1. Keep all spoiler discussion in this thread OR in specific deck threads. It's okay to discuss a spoiler card in a deck thread as long as you aren't spamming and are constructively arguing for its inclusion. Do not make SCD Threads, however.
2. Don't image leech.
3. Shorter posts are okay in threads like this (e.g. "Sweet card for RG Tron!") but don't get too spammy (e.g. responding to someone saying "viable in Twin?" with "no" and no other text).
4. All other MTGS rules and Modern subforum rules apply
I am so hyped!! The timmy inside me has been waiting 5 years for this to drop for almost 5 years now for this. I have always considered "colourless" to be my favourite colour in magic.
On a side note, buy all the Heartless Summonings you can because we're going to combo-town!
I am also excited for the potential of a fringe Collected Company Allies deck popping up.
Hope for some good artifacts and blue and black cards!
Likewise. While Tasigur is a big single step in the right direction that I'm quit happy for, I'd love to see the beginnings of a 'blue-black shell' along the lines of snap-bolt for UR and however you'd go about defining the very healthy BG shell (goyf/decay, gofy/liliana, liliana/decay, bob/goyf whatever). What we get instead is either too narrow, simply overcosted (dimir charm, silumgar's command), or mills. As modern is now there is little draw to UB itself.
new players as they show up maybe twice with some budget deck they've spent the week designing and testing only to be beaten into oblivion by expensive decks they cannot hope to obtain and I think this is a tragedy.
Three points.
1. Allies might actually be the new tribe in magic if were talkin about this. Allies is already firmly tier 2 with company coming into existance, but that new ally is dope. Allies is etb tribal, and company and cord catter to that.
2. RDW might get a huge boost off this set. Colorless red cards are dangerous. A colorless shock for example, would push RDW stupidly strong because it kills half the stuff people side in against them (firewalker)
3. Colorless. Trons secretly the real winner.
Well RDW already has Ghostfire at 3 mana, and considering how RDW has won the last 2 pro tours, I doubt WOTC plans on making some really awesome burn spells that are cheap and "colorless". I agree it would be really awesome as sideboard material for kor firewalker and etched champion, but we will have to wait and see if it would even be worth the space in the sideboard. Personally i am hoping for in BFZ is a new cycle of lands that can be fetched from fetch lands that aren't the shock lands but have some sort of ETB effect.
Awaken might be a good mechanic with Jeskai Ascendancy, as Ascendancy wants both spells and creatures that tap for mana. Of course depending on what gets printed with awaken.

Really good point. I could see a "Awaken - 2" being stupid in that deck if it gets printed. I have a feeling it's only going to be high costs though.
Just maybe, if we get enough cheap colourless(/Devoid) Eldrazi with 1-2 or more colourless mana in their mana costs, we might be able to cobble together Turbo Tribal Eldrazi with Eye of Ugin and Eldrazi Temple as the deck's Sol lands!
...sadly, there's no accel to be had in the deck's Urborg, TOY-fetch-shock opening hands...
Secretly? Lol. But seriously, Tron is very dependant on cards that were in Standard last time Zendikar was around, and as a Tron player, this is by far the most excited I have ever been for spoiler season

Project Booster Fun makes it less fun to open a booster.
Retreat to Kazandu get in MAH SIDEBOARD! Anti-burn, helps with mirror matches, anything that easy +1/+1 counters can make really good, etc.
Is that just a little too slow however? If you drop it turn 3, then get the chance at gaining 2 life if you aren't going to change the board position for the turn. Burn is probably going to be dishing out more damage than that per turn so you might be better off with current cards. Unless you're hitting a ton of fetches I don't know if the value out of it will be truly game changing.
Although flavorwise I enjoy Devoid, I really don't like that it or Ghostfire exists. Personally I don't enjoy when mechanics get made that just totally ignore other rules such as this with "yea it has a color identity...but you can ignore that." Goes with the eldrazi thing but it grates with me.

#3. Depressing. The thing that makes RG tron sort of ok (lol, hate the deck, its not ok), is that it mostly really needs the full set of tron lands in play to do its dastardly duty. Anything that gets printed under 7cmc or aids speeding up anything colorless is just annoying. That its become even more resilient with Ugin was a sad release day.
Soo Ingest.. most worthless mechanic ever printed? Though I guess it's supposed to have a synergy with something we haven't seen yet. The most obvious thing I can think of is something that lets you play cards exiled from your opponents deck. That still seems weak.

But remember that Delve is a wildly played thing. Imagine them delving away lands, or better yet things like Abrupt Decay. Then you get to (conditionally) cast it for free!
On the flip-side I am stoked for the art of the set. If you look at Forerunner of Slaughter it looks as all the colours of the land are getting washed out as the eldrazi eat away at the mana. Could lead to some really interesting abstract art pieces.

True, but I still probably wouldn't put Ingest creatures in my deck (unless of course they had great stats).
Ingest huh? Not that Descent into Madness is a modern card, but I was thinking there is bound to be some shennigans to be had alongside it.

It doesn't even have to have ingest, it just has to bring it back from exile under your control. Imagine playing Path to Exile on their Tasigur, then cast some-yet-to-be-spoiled-and-a-reasonable-cost-eldrazi and steal it out of exile. Maybe some big guy has ingest 7, but that's a dream for now.

I'll kick things off with a cool synergy. It's weak now but maybe this kind of play will get better as we see more cards spoiled.
Eye of Ugin + Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth + Dominator Drone
I'm hoping for more Urborg + Eye synergy in the set. Also... ALLIES. GIVE ME MORE OF THEM.
On a side note, buy all the Heartless Summonings you can because we're going to combo-town!

I'm so pumped for more Allies. As some of you already know, I'm a big fan of this kind of "janky" tribal archetype in Modern. New Allies would be awesome. Personally, I have my eye on two kinds of Allies list. The first is the standard Hada Freeblade/Kabira Evangel beatdown strategy we've seen in some Italian PPTQs. The other is a combo finish using Rally the Ancestors in tandem with Halimar Excavator, Phantasmal Image, and Jwari Shapeshifter. More awesome Allies, please!

I just hobe, that they print some good UG gold cards. It is the worst colour combination in Modern by far. Even UB has better cards.
