Well, the Slivers needed to go on defense against Infect. He should have blocked in both those games. I don't think his chances were good even with blocking, but sometimes you can run an Infect player out of attackers.
Still, congrats to him for making it that far. I really enjoyed seeing the Sliver deck in action. I am a huge fan of tribal strategies in general, and I hope it catches on a little more. If we could only get a Goblin deck on par with the Merfolk running around, I might get genuinely excited about the format. It's already my favorite constructed format at this point, but I haven't been playing much lately.
everybody loved the top 8, everybody hated the finals. It's like nobody enjoys infect, except tom ross.

Legacy: RUG Lands
EDH: Sidisi turn-3 storm
I was surprised actually that the games played out so well. I was afraid it would be land a creature - pump - dead. It didnt play out like that at all though.

The variety is good. The fact there's not a best deck is good. The fact that top tier decks like Infect can pretty frequently lead to non-games is less good. I don't hate the deck, but it pushes the turn 3 rule very hard. Mark Rosewater's pet mechanic is starting to wear a little thin for me.
Loved Slivers being in the top 8. I know it's a contender deck at just doesn't have the deck quantity to represent its power (like Merfolk use to be before it broke out).
Excited to see how things go. (:

That Slivers deck seemed to be low on interaction, I think it just can't deal with decks that have a gameplan of ignoring you until turn 5, Infect seems like a particularly poor matchup. It probably needs a removal spell that's easier to cast than Arbupt Decay... maybe Echoing Truth.

6. UW Control
7. UR Twin

Just watched the Infect vs Abzan match. They mentioned the backup match was Lantern Control Vs Merfolk. Anyone knows whos playing Lantern and what record hes got so far?
Funny part of the comment: They almost cut to the Lantern match during sideboard of the feature match, but they joked that it was Lantern, they had enough time to finish the Infect match and go watch Lantern. Then the Merfolk player stands up and leaves after losing to Lantern, faster than Infect match, lol.
Haha I was the Lantern player, started out 6-0 beating burn 3 times day 1, I ended up in 42nd though, went into the last round 22nd but lost to Jund to go X-5. Wish I could have made it on camera, Merfolk is a great match to make Lantern look really OP. Might be playing it again at GP OKC but probably not, hard to grind 15 rounds with the deck
Anybody know how far some of the Jeskai Midrange lists made?
Also, congrats @Thursdayisgod for making it that far! It's always nice to see members of this forum come together, share information, and actually end up succeeding in big events.

The deck was great to watch especially when Chris Anderson was getting wrekt.
I'd like to see some more tribal decks get powerful like Vampires, Goblins or humans.
