It does well when nobody is prepared. It's still a terrible and evil deck. I want to watch games of Magic, not people sitting at a table doing nothing.

(2) pilots.
(2) 75 piles of modern legal cards.
Its a game of magic.
Plus how can a deck that "does nothing" win? Its doing something alright, you just can't comprehend the beauty of it.
Update: Lantern "Do-Nothing, Easy to hate" Control 9-0
WotC:
DAY 1 COVERAGE
The march of Modern is on the move at Grand Prix Oklahoma City. From the 1,470 players that started Day 1 just QQQ remain, and at the top of the heap are several undefeated players: Zac Elsik, Chris Lopez, Matthew Duggan, Tripp Brister and Daniel Duan. With archetypes like Lantern Control among the undefeated five it’s clear Modern has stepped firmly into new territory to explore.
As a tarmotwin player that was an insane match. Its so odd to thinkt it almost wasnt good enough on two different ocassions
As a GR Tron player I was cringing a bit at some of the decisions the Tron player was making. For example, he left in Karns against Twin. Although Karn can be spectacular in Game 1 (as a way to take out their lands and stop them from comboing off quickly), afterwards he becomes pretty weak. Heck, Game 3 was a stellar example of how Karn isn't good: You cast him, he gets Remand'd, you cast him again, he gets Remand'd, and so on. Against Twin, he's too much mana for an effect that isn't that great against the deck.
I suppose to be fair, it took me a while to figure out how weak Karn was against Twin. But that game was definitely an example of why he's a card that's good to board out.
Mostly if you get that hate in your opening hand or whitin the first 3 draws AND not get it discarded or redirected to Spellskite or Welding Jar. After the 3rd turn or so, its very probable it already controls your draws so you won't be drawing more hate easily. Even if you hit a key card, you have to be really fast to close the game or draw more hate consistently before it draws another copy of the destroyed artifact or recurs it with Academy Ruins or Codex Shredder. Think about it, 9-0, do you think none of those 9 players had enough artifact hate in their boards considering Affinity is Tier 1? Burn is the toughest matchup because it can close a game fast ignoring Ensnaring Bridge for the most part, it needs little to no hate if it gets a good opening hand. Zac claims he only lost 2 games today, one was to Burn. Thats a record of 18-2 (90% win rate) if I'm not mistaken, the deck has a pretty solid win rate game 1 vs everything except Burn.
So did Twin end up taking that game 3? I missed the end of the match.
EDIT: Just so I dont double post.
I figure there is some hate, but the mantra is 'Affinity is good when hate is low'. If Affinity has been good for a few events, and this takes off, I'm just wondering if it will get hated out. Or IF it can get hated out. I'm not going to argue its a weak deck if it has gone 9-0.

No, Tron won. The Tron player was at 6 life with a Wurmcoil Engine in play, with a Tarmogoyf and three Snapcasters. They had a Dismember for Wurmcoil Engine, but that only got it down to a 1/1, so they took 6 damage while gaining 1 life, leaving them at 1 and thus able to win via Emrakul swing next turn.
As a side note, something I didn't mention before. The commentators got something pretty wrong in their analysis of the matchup, when they claimed early on that RUG Twin wasn't as favored against Tron as UR Twin is because it's less "focused." That's wrong, RUG Twin is the best Twin variant against Tron. UR Twin can't muster much of a clock so if you can just throw some hate at them they'll have a whole lot of trouble actually getting your life down to 0 before you ramp up to Emrakul. RUG Twin, thanks to Tarmogoyf, is able to ignore the hate and just beat down on you much more efficiently; a 4/5 deals a lot more damage than a 2/1.
The weakest Twin variant against Tron is actually Grixis Twin, because the Black splash makes things more unwieldy while simultaneously not really offering much relevant against Tron you don't already get in UR. Kolaghan's Command is decent I suppose, but Ancient Grudge (playable in UR Twin... they do run a singleton Stomping Ground for this card) is a lot more impressive because of its ability to take out two artifacts.

I've been loving the Grixis abbot list. I'm really intrigued by Chapin's Abbot list. I just wish I could see it on stream more.
