This actually seems like it could be kind of sweet in merfolk, most lists are running 1/2 echoing truth and this does almost the same thing with added potential upside.
You played JESUS?!?! I heard none of his guys stay in the graveyard, and once you think you have him beat he ALWAYS comes back to win within three turns. I like...WORSHIP him.
Think we can get a two mana zombie lord? I would be happy if all he did was give swampwalk. Compelling Deterrence has got me so hyped for zombies! Card just becomes better recoil!
I'm not so sure about that because it seems thta Wizards don't have very big love for tribal decks.

Topplegeist is the perfect example of a card that I love, but I'm struggling on how to use it efficiently.
As a card, Topplegeist is perfect in every way. It's not the most competitive card, but I would love to see nothing but cards built as well as topplegeist in the future of magic.

I wish, that's the biggest weakness in a Modern Zombie deck right now: What to do on turn two.

I don't know. I kind of agree with that. But at the same time I feel like it is just one or two cards away from being just as competitive as merfolk. If you count compelling deterrence, then that just leaves a good two mana lord.

Bring back Transmute as a U/B mechanic and take your mill back to the depths of hell where it came from!
I've been thinking about Maddness... Mostly because its not Halloween, and I miss Halloween, and my usual way to deal with it with zoo is stuck in the mud with a Eldrazi fest...
So! Instead Id like to imagine since they dont test cards for modern, they'll give us broken madness cards. I think theres really 2 options to go down. Either a midrange stat by going jund colors, or a grindy tempo strat with bug colors. It really depends on which color is the best to pair the G/b cards with depending on what they print. It could look like either of these:
After that, you got a few choices to do. I'm partial to the deathshadow dredge vine that Pizzap has. 4 deaths shadow, 4 Grave Crawler 4 Lotleth Troll 2 Varolz, the Scar-striped. I think it gives you the best beef, plus it gives you the best "free" discard outlet I listed a while back, Lotleth troll. Plus that package is proven to work. But you could go a more spell focused route if better madness and flashback spells are printed with Zombie infestation and Oona's Prowler. Really depends on whats being printed.
But Being in jund colors gives you the best removal spell package. If we got Madness creatures (AMAZING way to get Vengvine active) or a beater like Wild Mongrel this would be the way Id go.
However if we get better flashback spells, which would likely be in blue, and better madness noncreature spells, Id probably go bug colors for that. Run this as my core:
Here we sorta have the opisite problem then above. We have better madness enablers like oona, whose downide is way less down when youre packing discard to turn it off, and Jace, who just a monster on his own, as well as scour to enable delve and flash back, but way less good reasons to BE IN madness. Might as well just be in b/u control or tempo. You could do grixis, losing the beef (and the fun) but again, normal grixis control is probably just better. This would need the most help for it to be worth a damn. Something like Circular Logic or Madness Unsummon would put this version over the top.
Overall, my guess would be now that magic is more a creature game, and since we ALL know tibalt will be in this set, and will be awesome with madness, Jund will be the way to go.
Why are you running Fiery Temper over Lightning Bolt?
There are 6 different ways to discard it, which if it was bolt would just be discarded, instead of discard=bolt. Plus I was assuming Tibalt or something like wild mongrel makes it better.
again, crafting with that we have for what could make a potential deck, not make something out of what we have.
Pore over the pages intrigues me hugely. On the one hand I could never get tidings to work in my delver list bu this untaps two of your lands which is huge. I will probably test it out as a 1 / 2 of. It does setup future snapcaster plays as well.
If it is something I have learned from my days of playing delver decks is the more cards you draw the better your chance of winning. This draws you some cards and still gives you the opportunity to counter something. Probably worthy of at least some consideration.

I was looking at it with Green's Sun's Zenith. Untapping lands is always something to look at, and this effectively becomes a 2.5 mana draw 3 discard a dead land card. It is really clunky when not comboing off but great otherwise.
Concentrate has proven to me to be the most important spell for the delver player to resolve. Especially in the mirror. Oh well I love me a draw three. I guess that one does not quite make the cut.
I can see madness being good with Liliana and Jace
Madness and Liliana is one of the best possible combinations imo. You get double value out of it by discarding a card that do something due to madness and discarding a card to the opponent at the same time.
Alternatively we might see some sideboard cards for that very reason. A "Madness B: Destroy target creature or Planeswalker" might happen as well.
Probably not that good, but something like that can happen.

In the light of this strong synergy, the odds of a reprint of Lotv?
They said already that liliana was on the list of reprints but was stopped by the dominance of Mono Black Rats, now we have a different and pretty healty meta in standard.

It's anyone's guess, really. We know they wanted to reprint her, but we also know that they kind of have a hate-on for Modern because of how well it's doing right now (Since it's taking over both Standard and Limited).
