Ugh. Friedman actually didn't have an infinitely large Birds of Paradise in that situation, and could only apply a 3-turn clock as the largest he could make the Birds was a 2/3 due to the counter constantly being put on the Finks when it comes back into play after everything else becomes a 3 toughness creature. Huang could have played to force the draw, particularly if he drew removal for Birds of Paradise. I feel Friedman misrepresented the situation, possibly due to a misunderstanding of how Bolster works.
Are people still seriously dense enough to say that enemy fetches won't be in the set? We were explicitly told that Wizards will not be doing half-cycles of lands in block sets. We got the allied fetches in Khans, couple Wizards' statement with other hints, the enemy fetches will be in Dragons. You have to be a complete idiot to believe otherwise.
This whole broadcast has been so much better than past streams - Gaby + Marshall was great and teaming anyone up with LSV is fantastic. Kudos for stepping it up a little bit WOTC - thanks for not rolling Randy out in front of us again, it's appreciated.

He had melira on the last turn so he could have made all of his cretures arbitrarily large.
In retrospect, that is correct. Forgot about the fact that you sacrifice Finks with the Bolster triggers on the stack, which does provide the means to do that. Wrote before thinking, as I usually do.
Even though they're linear, you've got to admit it's a pleasant surprise to see Elves vs Bogles in this field. Even enjoyable.

With the brief exception of Naya Big Zoo vs UW Control, the entire magic on camera has been eldrazi and linear/uninteractive decks like affinity, bogles, elves, infect.
This is the worst modern format I've ever seen, and that is absolutely not a hyperbolic statement.
Yeah, I haven't seen every game, but I stopped watching after the 3rd match I saw with UW Eldrazi against linear X.

You have to think they are trying to "listen" to the community for the coverage in order to keep viewers. They'd lose a lot of people if it was a "Bad coverage all Eldrazi GP".
I think we need to see what the day 1 numbers end up looking like. I am really hoping Eldrazi are not a huge % of the field, and just the Pro's/HOF'ers piloting it because they can tilt the average player.
Anyone watch that match with Chapin? He didnt appear to visually acknowledge the Mimic's ability when the 4/4 endless one resolved...then when he goes to combat and tries to claim it a 4/4...then wins the judge call on it? then next turn it looks like Chapin tries to tilt his opponent when he tries to attack for lethal.
I really hope this isn't true, cause ive enjoyed watching Chapin in the past and the decks he brews.
Any Judge out there that can better explain that situation with the Mimic and the 4/4 E-One?
Brian David-Marshall says he will interview Aaron Forsythe tomorrow.
Well, I'm guessing he's not going to run Forsythe through the ringer since coverage is bought and paid for by Wizards, but at least there might be something of an admission of a mistake, no matter how much they'll probably downplay it.

I think the bottom line is that anyone is going to want the trigger to resolve. He might have mumbled something about it when he played the card, who knows. It just seems like someone taking advantage of a technicality. Mind you if it was me at the GP I'd fight it since every game win matters.
Thank god for no Randy Bueler. Seriously, he's like a south park character, rubbing his paws together and talking about how wonderful and creative Eldrazi are!
I think Shodai is being unfair, we saw some UW control.
Thats about the only interactive deck I've seen, the rest has been Eldrazi v Eldrazi or non-interactive decks. Awful, awful competitive modern
No GBx, No Jeskai, Grixis, Blue Moon, barely any Zoo
by the way, are these UW Eldrazi decks really better? UR Eldrazi seemed more dominant, colorless Eldrazi looked unbeatable outside of the colored mirror matches. The deck is literally mutiliating itself to win the mirror and weakening itself to the rest of the field

Yeah says something eh? It's a meta call to win the mirror, weaker to anything else.
Doesn't change the fact that the Affinity player played really, really bad.
