EMA previews start on 5/23, and I know the Modern community has a lot of interest in the set and its cards. Check out the spoiler here. You can use this current thread to discuss all things EMA whether desired reprints, prices, supplementary products generally, etc.
Also, if you haven't done so yet, check out the MTGS Eternal Masters contest in the Rumor Mill. Winner gets a free box of EMA!!
When posting in this thread, you must adhere to the following rules:
All MTGS forum rules still apply. Keep it civil, report problematic posts and don't respond, etc.
All Modern subforum rules still apply. In particular, no banlist discussion and no format bashing!
We may expand these rules if the thread gets problematic, notably around topics like the Reserved List and Wizards' handling of reprints. Otherwise, enjoy and let's hope for some great cards!
This set isn't designed for Modern, so I don't expect many Modern staple reprints. I mean, if you look at both MM sets, there were only like 5 cards which were Legacy-/Vintage- but not Modern-playable:
I expect there to be very little value relevant to Modern. In their mission statement for the set, they specifically list Commander, Legacy, Vintage, and Cube, with an emphasis on being played in draft and sealed. Modern is nowhere to be seen. Maybe something of interest gets tossed in because it meets the other criteria, but I'm not holding my breath for any modern staples. Nor will I be surprised if few-to-none show up. I'll be thrilled if there are, but I'm keeping my expectations realistic and preparing for more 50% price spikes on cards not included.
I doubt we see Snapcasters or Lily or other big ticket items that would push MM3, but I personally hope for Damnation just to get people to shut up about it, maybe Inquisition at U if they feel generous

I don't Damnation isn't played in legacy whatsoever while Liliana is in the top deck of the format. She has a pretty high chance since most of the black mythics they can print don't cost anything.

On mtgsalvation people don't want to discuss ideas, so I give people something else to discuss: my controversial opinions.
An Eternal-focused set doesn't have to be all Eternal staples. They put Doubling Season in MM just for the casual players.
That said, there is some chance that we will get cards that are simultaneously Legacy staples AND Modern staples, although the overlap is kinda slim and many of those cards have already been reprinted.
The only wish I have is the Zendikar fetch lands.
I guess the chance is 50:50...
No chance we get them in eternal masters. Zendikar fetchlands will sell a standard set by themselves. Why waste it on a supplemental product that will do well just out of the force of will/wasteland alone. (I also expect Port and karakas)

I would also add that they have said she is too powerful for standard again, that means either eternal masters or they save her for the next modern masters I would think. She is guaranteed to be at Mythic either way and I would also say it probably won't do much to reduce her price long term.
I see more reprints for EDH than Legacy. Which would put Damnation in the reprint discussion. How ever, they have had many opportunities to reprint the card. I doubt they take this one.
I'm on the Damnation reprint train too. It's hard not to reprint that card in this set. It's very popular in commander and is probably one of the signature cards of the format.

This isn't true. Rosewater said for that specific standard that they tried to reprint her and damnation in (M15), she was too strong with delve cards and with the other black devotion cards in the format. I'm not saying that it's a guarantee but there is a low chance.

I wonder if they tossed in Ancestral Vision in there. From what I hear, at least the Shardless deck does run it in Legacy, so it's technically a played card in Legacy and assuming they finished the set before the unban hit, this kind of "narrow" cards are the kind of cards they like to print in Masters sets.
It does mean we get a bonus out of it, but since majority of the set still doesn't cater to us, I doubt the Modern lot will go into a EMA-buying frenzy solely because of Visions anyway.
I doubt they will reprint anything of value to Modern in this set.
Let's not forget that popular Legacy cards are also Modern legal. Goyf, Lili, and Snapcaster all see Legacy play in tier 1 and 2 strategies. It's possible there is some "collateral reprints" (Is that the right term?) that could affect Modern.

This seems incredibly unlikely. Goyf, Snapcaster, Liliana, Decay, Vision, and a number of other cards are all jointly playable in Modern and the Eternal formats. Let's not also forget the fringe cards like Chalice and Crucible, or even mainstream commons and uncommons like Bolt, that could benefit from higher volume.
Also, this is unrelated, but I'm not sure why you have RG Tron crossed out and banned in your signature. The deck has been crushing it up and down the Open scene for the past 2-3 weeks.

I could see them reprinting given that it is used a lot in cube and commander. I'm not terribly hopeful, as that is one of the colorshifted cards they seem to not want to reprint, plus it has the same stigma that Wrath of God did with having a religious connotation. (I know wrath of god has a bunch of reprints but wizards at one point expressed concern about reprinting it because of the religious stigma in the name)
Also, I would not call Damnation a signature card in the Commander. I might go so far as to call it very popular, but definitely not a signature. That's just my two cents though.

Ok I'll change it. And my reasoning is that if they print stuff for Modern in this set it will detract from Modern Masters next year. And I don't think Modern players would buy Eternal Masters on the off chance of pulling a Modern staple (I know I'm not). And they won't put too much value in this set.
