I don't think GR Tron will get top 8. People will be prepared for it.
The only true way to be prepared for it is to be faster otherwise you have to rely on fulminator mage which sometimes does nothing if they have excessive pieces or crumble to dust which is too slow against a turn 3 karn that was not countered or discarded (this misses the top decked lol karn). Yea I can see it not being in the top 8 only because they have to survive matches against aggro and some fringe vombo decks in the early rounds. The fair decks will have answers but they will still be underdogs but the fact that with that land destruction you can steal some games and aggro being a thing rg tron might not make it sll the way but not due preparedness in sideboards but more about pairings.
Other than the fetchland and cards entering Modern outside of Standard there's really nothing out of the
ordinary about her questions. Of course people like Gabby are going to want to know what
people think of no PTs.

In my experience, GPT winning lists are always interesting but not always representative of the format.
I like to think of them as lists that are a proven consideration for FNM or League play if they are a deck list that you are interested in. They might not be enough to consistently win a two day event, but seem fine for 4-5 rounds. I also check through them for up-and-coming archetypes, interesting new tech, or to see if there are any trends that might not be reflected in the immediate GP, but could impact the meta afterwards.
There are no "new" decks in this batch, but several neat ones (JA!!). I'm also loving the variety; hard to plan for, but easily one of my favorite aspects of the format.

The Modern Perspective - an article series all about Modern brought to you by PureMTGO.com
I'm going to be away most of the day and will have to read through here and coverage on my phone. Can someone just post what's on camera for each round? I'm probably going to skim through the vods myself but it'll just help a lot. Other people might appreciate it too.
Nah, you typically won't see Jund in GPT lists from the day before. For those events you want to be as non-interactive as possible to spike and get the byes. Jund is a much better choice for the main event instead.
That RUG Pili-pala list is kind of odd? The best it can do with the infinite mana is, if it has a Whispers, draw the whole deck, then hope that 4x Bolt/Snap/Bolt kills the opponent? If it has some creatures out to swing, it can Cryptic down the blockers, but is that enough? Very strange. Maybe it's something you have to play to really see it "do its thing", but sadly the Pili-Pala combo is a huge pain to execute on MTGO. ;(

gp charlotte seems to had no swiss round. pairings had been random. so people with 7-0 records play against people with 2-5 records... twitter pro told so.
That is really weird.

What I play or have:
Modern/Legacy
either funpolice (Delver, Deathcloud, UW Control) or the fun decks (especially those ft. Griselbrand)
The software blew up which means random pairings for the rest of Day one. Stg is giving out unlimited challenge badges to anyone who drops before round 5. Day 2 will be Swiss but tiebreakers will be reset. So everyone starting day 2 6-3 or better will have fresh tie breakers
I'm suddenly very glad I opted to work this weekend instead of going to Charlotte. All my friends at the event are super upset about what it, or is not rather going on.
Add the software failure to the growing list of major **** ups on Wizards' end. I am sure the software is as outdated and problematic as most of their technology.
The video coverage at Grand Prix LA is actually surprisingly good.
Agree. Very clean interface. It's unfortunate for Wizards that quality coverage like that gets overshadowed by foibles like the WPN issue, the GP Charlotte software, , #PayThrPros, etc.

Well to be fair, isn't GP LA being run by Channel Fireball? In which case I think most praise for the coverage would go to them rather than WOTC (though I suppose WOTC would deserve praise for having them handle the event?).

The SCG GP Charlotte FAQ suggested Wizards had much more to do with the stream than just CF alone:
http://gpcharlotte.starcitygames.com/faq.php#faq-17
"Wizards of the Coast has prioritized its live streaming video coverage at Grand Prix immediately after a new set release. Because Grand Prix Charlotte is outside that priority window, Wizards opted to not produce live streaming video coverage. Because Wizards of the Coast no longer contracts third-party organizations to provide live streaming video coverage of Grand Prix, SCGLive has opted not to do so either. Wizards of the Coast will still be providing text coverage of the event. All 2016 Grand Prix Wizards of the Coast is supporting with live streaming coverage are listed here."

But if you look at the link of the ones they (WOTC) are supporting with live stream, GP Los Angeles (the one Channel Fireball is doing) is not listed even though there is streaming coverage on Channel Fireball's channel. This indicates that Channel Fireball is doing it.
