Overall, Grim Flayer just does so much useful stuff that some players don't appreciate and some decks (like traditional Jund midrange perhaps) can't take advantage of. This has me thinking that the real "home" for this card isn't Just as a value throw-in to Jund, Abzan, or G/B. No. It's never going to provide more value there than Dark Confidant, Bloodbraid Elf, or Tireless Tracker. Grim Flayer truly shines in decks that use the GY a bit heavier and actually focus on getting Delirium quickly.
I believe this to be exactly the case. Grim Flayer will always turn it's head when something degenerate is happening. Don't forget the Team Pro Tour, where the Japanese Teams had Grim Flayer included in their Bridgevine decklists. Because it was a better source of card advantage for them. That deck has since evolved and now includes Greater Gargadon (seems like Bridgevine needed more sac engines instead of card advantage), but it's interesting to see the applications and deck choices whenever this weird two drop places its head.

Just wanted to say, this is a good read, and mirrors a lot of the issues I have with GDS.
