I've been experimenting with Gifts Storm with Baral and Electromancer and it's both tons of fun and surprisingly robust. I don't know what his list is exactly, but it looked pretty similar to what's brewing here at MTGS.
Corey eeked out a win against a female nacatl burn player. He was at 3 life in game 3, but he straight up outplayed her. His strategy was to absolutely have a bolt in the opening hand or mull.
Finished it up with a snapcaster and Creeping tarpit
Because Corey is still early into the tournament and Brisbane had no blue decks in the top?
I was thinking you were talking about what we saw on Coverage yet.
But even then regarding to Izzetmage, there where 4 decks that I would consider 'blue' (Esper Delve, BTL Scapeshift, Jeskai Copycat, Jeskai Midrange) in the top 20 day 1 decks (decks scoring 21 or more).
While you can argue about that and I agree that it would be nice to see blue-based control decks doing a little better that's definitely not 'no blue decks in the top'.
GOD ******* DAMNIT, another Death shadow game v Eldrazi Tron
This is annoying, it's literally over half the coverage today, this has been serious disappointing coverage
I can't wait to see the Day 2 breakdown.... Either the meta IS as much of a mess as it looks, or Wizards is utterly incompetent at picking and showcasing feature matches.
Black outplayed Manyard. Shadow is so hard to pilot though, I think most Shadow players lose that last round.
Either the meta is truly Eldrazi Tron and Shadow decks predicting ramp and combo, or WOTC is ******* awful at covering the tournament
I wouldn't be so quick to call the meta a mess, Cfusion, we haven't seen the lists yet, and day 2 can totally go a different way despite an 8-1 or 9-0 start
Jesus, they said between all the people on death shadow, they're like 20 something wins and 2 losses.
If this deck continues like this in other tournaments, we're probably looking at another tier 0 deck that could get banned
Super early, shadow could put no players in the top 8, I know.
The deck is extremely powerful when I tested it though
That sure escalated quickly. We went from a strong Day 1 GP performance at a single event to a comment about a potential Tier 0 deck and a resulting banning? That's really too much. I get that Wizards has cast a shadow of ban fear and uncertainty over the format, but we need to push back against it and not get sucked in. It's bad form for every strong deck run to rapidly get painted in ban terms.

That man is just an upstanding Magic man all around.
i missed his games (and his hosting). Anyone fill me in quick?

I'm rooting for Cory because he's an awesome player, but my opinion on blue is bad and it needs help.
Any more of this, and Team Troll will be more than just a name.
I know where you post.

I'll get excited once I see literally anybody else doing well with a Snapcaster deck.

On the bright side, if this really is representative of the room, odds are very good for at least one undefeated Puresteel champion.

Sam Black seems to think the deck is busted though
