Personally, I love the 3 CMC Wratg despite its drawback. As far as I can tell, it's the only sweeper that hits BOTH the 1-3 toughness critters at three mana AND removes the following:
Tarmogoyf
Tasigur
Angler
Death's Shadow
Etched Champion
Inkmoth/Blinkmoth if Ravager tries to modular its counters
Reality Smasher
Thought-Knot Seer
Primeval Titan
That's just a shortlist of major top-tier creatures you could be staring down as you untap on your T3, especially if on the draw. Anger, Sweltering, Firespout, etc. doesn't remove those threats. Verdict, Damnation, etc. can be a turn too slow. I for one am super excited to try the card.
As I've said in other threads, based on this wrath, I am hoping for a UU counterspell with the same drawback as the new wrath. A grixis deck with the new wrath and such a counterspell could be a real contender in this meta.
The new wrath is certainly interesting. Hard to evaluate, but at the very least another bone to Tezzeret Control (the card synergizes pretty well with mana rocks).
Really can't tell if it will see play in other fair modern decks. People will certainly test it for some weeks when it comes out though.
That wrath is interesting. It costs at least six mana over two turns, but the real test will be to see how it plays after turn 3 since you can't untap any lands, not just those you use to cast Reckoning. Interesting how As Foretold helps mitigate the drawback in the late game.
A little concerned about the concentration of power cards in black if this is a hit, but we'll have to see how the rest of the set unfolds.
Samut seems good, not sure which deck wants that card though. And or course, landing a bolas would be a beating - if you can ever cast a 3 colour over 7 mana walker.

could be fun in doubling season/devotion decks. im surprised she didnt give creatures keyword soup, considering Samut, Voice of Dissent. a bit of a letdown
Samut is just plain bad. Blood Mist with Twin Bolt is simply not a constructed playable card, especially not in Modern. Except with Doubling Season of course (but then again, that's true of all PW).
Black's mantra is greatness at any cost. Wiping the board with a hurtful downside is directly in line with what black cards should be doing. White board wipes usually more expensive, but have some conditional upside. Considering there are half a dozen white board whipes already and only 2 black ones (only one of which legal in Modern), I welcome this with open arms. Still tricky to evaluate, but I could imagine Shadow decks and other low-curve black decks running this as a way to deal with swarms of large creatures; especially Eldrazi.
The black wrath looks real good. Not untapping is not quite the same as skipping a turn, since you can still draw, play a land, and activate PWs. Additionally, the card itself already takes a lot of pressure off you - it's not like you're going to die to attacks before the no-untap wears off, since all creatures just got killed and the fresh ones probably don't have haste.
Samut is a bad Nahiri that takes longer to ult and isn't in the colors that excel at protecting a PW.
New Samut is probably only playable in the Doubling Season deck as another PW that can Ult' and get Emrakul alongside Nahiri and Jace.
Quite a bit of redundency for that deck.
I'd like to know how Wizards is going to reconcile its "SAMUT IS TEH SPEEDZERZ!!11!1" narrative that they invented to justify original Samut's inelegant, keyword-salad design, with a Planeswalker card that has no conceivable way of fitting said narrative.
In the meantime, hooray for the new Wrath, here's hoping for a cycle!

RIP Magic Duels. Wizards will regret what they did to you.
The new wrath is interesting. This is the sort of design and power I was hoping for when they ditched 4 mana wraths. I'll be testing 1 out in Esper, but BB is going to be difficult to find room for. It's probably better in UB or Black-based mid-range decks.
Black has gotten some love throughout magic history. First they got a set that heavily leaned towards it and amazing discard effects now a better wrath? Go team Lilly!
Faster = Better lol
(My brain is comparing that board wipe to Toxic Deluge for some reason...)
In my Esper Shadow list, I already run Flaying Tendrils. I don't know if this would be a strict upgrade, but I'm definitely going to try out switching in the new hotness.
I am really excited to try out Bontu's Last Reckoning. One of black's biggest problem against fast zoo-type decks is not having a 3 mana wrath that can hit 3 toughness creatures. This wrath seems really good in a death shadow type build, if they hit their land drops. Turn 3 wrath. Turn 4 fatal push, bolt, stubborn denial, death's shadow, or gurmag angler.
Samut is bad.
Bolas is probably bad.
Bontu's Last Reckoning seems surprisingly decent, and implies that there might be other X's Last Reckoning cards coming down the pipe.

Well, I can saw a woman in two, but you won't wanna look in the box when I'm through.
I guess Bontu's Last Reckoning can be awkward in draw-go decks, as not only won't the 3 lands tapped to play this board wipe untap next turn, so won't the lands tapped to pay for Cryptic Command during the opponent's turn. Activating manlands and paying for Snapcaster Mage/card draw/removal/etc. can also get awkward.
Bontu's Last Reckoning will find a home in 8Rack for sure, and a few other decks most likely. Black gets all the love and blue is WOTC's red headed stepchild apparently. UU counterspell with this clause would see play though IF they toss blue that much needed bone.
Bolas seems breakable. If we just look at him as a 7cc walker he is better than karn and on par with Ugin. Karn and Ugin have a much easier CC obviously to make up for that. So how can we cheat Bolas into play in a control deck without committing too much deck space doing so?
May not be possible, and Nahiri is sitting right there at 4cc asking to be abused as well. Still, Bolas looks like fun to board.
i agree with memory lapse though, the wrath will see play in 8rack and i already feel how annoying it will be to eat a wrath turn 3 followed by raven's crime turn 4, my friend play 8rack as his main and he was pretty happy about it and he thinks its all he needs to make his deck tier1.
lets be honest besides goblin guidemonastery swiftspear and reality smasher wich other haste creatures sees play in modern? through the breach? not supposed to happen with his 36 discard spells that only cost 1 or 2, once he reach 4 mana its gonna be hard to deal with his crap, get your foil nephalia academy while they are cheap!

About cheating out Bolas, I'm not aware of a (good) way to cheat out PW's (unless you count Aetherworks Marvel but it is bad in Modern).
Better than Deprive? Possibly. Deprive gives you -1 land development for ALL of your consecutive turns, where as the theoretical new card would only slow your next turn. Neither would be strictly better than the other. All that said, WOTC hates blue counterspells so this is all likely a moot point.
Why would "Tron" play Oath or Cascading Cataracts (purely a gimmick card) or even Bolas ? It is incredibly contrived. Planar Bridge seems more viable.
They have Ancient Stirrings and Karn+Ugin which are better and easier to cast.
the guy was asking how to cheat him in, i gave my opinion and you rejected it immediatly and suggested something worst, maybe he just want to play kitchen table magic, no need to get on your high horse.
with your tips you get to cast him turn 4 and with my ''nobody play this way'', you get to cast it turn 3 but youre right your way is the way to go!
