Pithing Needle 2.0 seems interesting at least as a SB card in EldraziTron. Not sure if other decks may want to pick it up as well. Peeking at your opponents hand early game never hurts.

Sigh. Probably. Though I dont think we are allowed to condone it.... so thread title will be changed.

While it's not in HOU. I don't like Sorcerous Spyglass. Pithing Needle is more skill testing. This just gives you all the info. Also two mana.
Sorcerous Spyglass's hand-peeking clause gives it one practical edge over Pithing Needle--it's finally fetchland LD on a rock that actually works! Although anyone paranoid can crack all their fetches on the battlefield in response to either rock, you don't need to guess (anywhere near as hard) which fetches to name with Sorcerous Spyglass, which means you have a greater chance of sniping fetchlands your opponent has in his/her hand but hasn't played yet.
Sorcerous Spyglass also gives an extra opportunity for Lantern Control to peek at its opponent's hand to map out which cards to prioritize milling, which might be enough for it to displace one Pithing Needle in that deck.

Good points. One reason that for EldraziTron is that it doesn't nonbo with Chalice of the Void quite so badly as well. Getting a peek at your opponents hand early on can be very helpful as well. Time will tell, we won't see it for months.

Like I said it just gives all the info. Less skill testing in my opinion.
Jace's Defeat
1U
Instant
Counter target blue spell. If it was a Jace planeswalker spell, scry 2. "I had hoped for more from you, Jace. But I expected as much."

Shapers' Sanctuary is close to a cheaper, one-sided Fecundity, but doesn't help against board wipes.
The thing is, green decks don't need that kind of stuff now because they have Company and Chord. Company beats removal by virtue of being a 2-for-1. Chord can grab Selfless Spirit against mass removal, or even spot removal if the target is high-priority enough.
Liliana's Defeat
B
Sorcery
Destroy target black creature or black Planeswalker. If it was a Liliana Planeswalker it's owner looses 3 life.
It's sorcery speed, but given the current metagame and how prevalent Grixis Shadow is I can see this seeing play in the SB. Actually especially in Grixis Shadow SB for the mirror.
Opinions?
It's the best card in that cycle by far, but Sorcery-speed does hurt its chances in today's Modern. Still, since Black is the color of Modern, I would not be surprised to see a couple in sideboards here and there. Don't expect any value however (except foils).
Dark Betrayal is pretty much strictly better than Liliana's Defeat since it's an instant. That card sees no play, I don't see this one seeing play. All you get is a very narrow planeswalker clause and you give up instant speed for sorcery. Meh.
That said now that I know Dark Betrayal exists, I may actually be using it in the side vs Grixis delve decks.
Whenever a creature you control becomes the target of a spell or ability an opponent controls, you may draw a card.
I don't know how good that is, but we certainly didn't need more ways to punish interaction..
I need four copies of this. Now. Any creature deck should splash green and play it since spot removal is part of every deck.
Well, except Boggles.
Slow your roll buddy, you have to have two critters die after you play this before you make any positive gains with this card. Not exactly an autoinclude in all creature decks. It seems more combolicious than anything.
I loathe creatures! Praise Prison and Land Destruction!

So not just any Planeswalker, it has to be a black one and if it happens to be a Liliana then you get the extra bonus.

Definitely getting 4 copies of this one. It's too narrow for the main, but great for sideboard... espescially in my meta where Grixis Shadow is king.
