Oh sure, and I don't think we should ever expect direct plants of most of the Legacy staples. Some of my favorite MH1 cards are the blue, green, and black Forces because they are powerful answers that aren't format-breaking. That power level and flexibility is what I would have liked in both new cards and direct reprints. Wasteland, Hymn, Price of Progress? Oh heck no. Containment Priest, Vindicate, and Undermine? Yes please, instead of cute meme cards in my $8 packs.
Many of the build-arounds here are nice, and should stir up the meta without planting power cards into the best decks. RG Land strategies really got some nice tools, as did Company decks. Even single card plants like Scale Up in Infect can really do amazing things. And hey, great dual land cycle! If the majority of the set would have been this way, I wouldn't be posting this now. I was as excited for this set as any since the format's inception, at least as much as Dominaria and WAR. For me, those two nailed it...and this hasn't, when considering the premium pricing. Not bad, really, just...not quite there like the best recent sets.
And knowing we probably won't get another direct-to-Modern set for two years, ouch...this feels like Iconic Masters did when it was fully spoiled for several reasons. Many great cards, but a sense that the delivery of the product didn't align with expectations. Sorry for being a downer; I won't post about this anymore, but I can't help but feel a bit deflated, despite some real positives, for the reasons above.

Wow, this is really good. Hard to imagine Humans not running any of these. Hope there are few other spoilers left that are this strong.
Personally, I wans't expecting much from this set. Was waiting for it to spike my mtgo cards and sell all of them and just go play arena, the next new extended format they will obviously creautre for arena rotations.
But after the first day of spoils, Force changed all that, with just 1 card some of the decks I always wanted to play where suddenly viable. So now I'm hyped and can't wait for the set's release. All the other good MD or SB cards are just icing on the cake to me.
And yes, the reason a I didn't like modern anymore was the top decks, despise tron inevitability and ability to just destroy all my permanents with stone or lolugin, humans's disruption for a dumb aggro deck, and dredge.
I think I found a deck for Echo of Eons: Jeskai Ascendancy Combo. Discarding Echo of Eons mid-combo is a walk in the park there, even discarding it pre-combo isn't completely unrealistic there, and it could definitely use the CA. The flashback cost being 3 mana may bite, but it's a lot more reachable than 4 mana in that land-light deck. Yes, I have been able to pay the flashback cost mid-combo. (Ascendancy Combo is also a cute home for Eladamri's Call, tutoring for regular mana dorks/Fatestitcher/post-board bullets and being turntable with Glittering Wish, although it's possible that more efficient cards are better.)
In the meantime, I suppose a cool thing about Hall of Heliod's Generosity is that, with it, you can stick a bunch of silly 1-ofs in your Life from the Loam deck that you can't always support but that can come in handy. I'm thinking stuff along the lines of singleton Astral Drift with some cycling lands, although Cast Out is also solid.
(In Legacy, I think Hall of Heliod's Generosity will become a staple in Lands, but only because they can dig for Exploration by spamming LftL.)

This isnt the place for this. If you cant afford it buy singles. If youre choosing between tires on your car and cards... yeah you shouldnt be buying sealed product. Period

Highly dependent on what Humans has to fight against. 5C Humans has 2, maybe 3 flex slots you can play around with, and those are usually the meta-dependent 3 drops. Tweaking numbers anywhere else is going to be gain-something but lose something scenario.
Guys please opinions on japanese cards. Lost a 3/3 creature against Japan celestial colonade. This guy played all creatures and spells in english cards, but some cards in his manabase was japanese. I dont registrated this really ( my brain say its all fine and all english to me lets attack his empty board)...and i am sure it is a Kind of legal cheating. It is not ok, but i know legal. I Hate such people. I never forget colonade normally, but with this Tricks it can happen one time in 3 years and such people take advantage of this
If I am a customer spending premium amount of dollars, I expect a premium service. Jund falls into the category of a premium deck costing more dollars than a majority of the rest of the format. I'm not getting the desired performance ratio per dollars spent out of the Jund deck because WOTC decided to make the format more diverse.

TBH, still haven't seen too many exciting cards yet. Their design philosophy though, is excellent ability and flavor wise, just lacks a little bit of power.
combined with the premium price tag slashed on MH1, it is highly likely to be marked as a failure financial wise, and that may hinder any efforts to make another MH set in the near future.

It's not like Humans is low on ways to stop opposing removal. They have Thalia, Freebooter and Meddling Mage, do they really need a fourth? Especially one that does nothing against combo decks, unlike their first three?

It does slow down some combos. Storm has to pay 1 more for Gifts and 1 for each copy of Grapeshot, Scapeshift has to pay mana for each Valakut trigger. Taxes temoval and burn spells, discard spells and it scales up with more copies, unlike Thalia that is Legendary.
What do you think the 5C humans deck is going to cut to accommodate running multiples of this card? Seems like it's just added redundancy against things that humans are already decent to good against.

I didn't make it to $220. Sure one good mythic or foil can change the number but mass production will lower the value of everything even with the much higher MSRP of $220. You will have chase mythics driving the prices of the boxes. Most of the rares drop to nothing. We know what the pattern is like.
Do you think the price boxes will go down within 15 days?

Maybe. Decks that are disruption+clock tend to be very potent. I'm interested in a Humans list that's the cards you mentioned plus 3 mana Thalia. Just go as disruptive as possible.
Of course, the question as always is in what to cut.
So we finally get Splice onto instant or sorcery Draw a card...for a splice cost of 2U and a regular mana cost at instant speed for 1U. Will Everdream see play? It has the same nigh-unstoppability as Splicer's Skill unless your hand gets shredded apart, but competing with Jace, the Mind Sculptor and Search for Azcanta is bound to get ugly.
Mirrodin Besieged is like a noncreature Sai, Master Thopterist, except the tokens don't fly and you can't sac artifacts to draw cards, but you can change your mind and make this a looting win con that wants you to hit 15+ artifacts in your graveyard. Does any deck want this?
Might Geomancer's Gambit see play as 3-mana mono-red Ghost Quarter-level LD that draws a card to compensate? As much as Fulminator Mage is a bro and Pillage has added versatility, I'd imagine that some decks value the card velocity quite a lot more, and then there's search hosing.

Ux isnt really in the market anymore for top end draw spells. just way better stuff goin on. i mean id even take fact or fiction over trying to durdle around with some splice spell. a closer comparison though is hieroglyphic illumination - cycle early draw late

Everdream will not see play. It's overcost for constructed and I can promise you that was intentional because that effect in constructed would be way too good if it were playable.

You'll really just be exchanging between different types of disruption if you cut any of these to fit it in.

Marit Lage's Slumber - The Snow win con?
