I'm honestly surprised there's been so little talk about God-Eternal Kefnet in the context of modern. Such a pushed creature with a measure of build in inevitability will make waves, no?

not necessarily. maybe some ripples, but the bar for those at 4+ cmc is set really high.
its getting some good reception i hear, so we can hope. its a cool design

4-mana, 4-power blue fliers have typically not seen Modern play (e.g. Duskmantle Seer, Sphinx of Foresight), even if they have significant upsides. It probably says something when two of the 4-mana, 4-power blue fliers that see the most play in Modern are Curator of Mysteries (mainly for that sweet cheap Cycling) and Nicol Bolas, the Ravager (probably for the discard and ability to turn into a powerful planeswalker--the support from Kolaghan's Command also likely helps).
Just want to say Blast Zone is really good. Wrecks many elves, large death shadows, and aether vials. With Sun Titan recursion, it's a repeatable board wipe against certain decks mid-late game.
Should have bought the thing when it was still 5 dollars each, now I'm forced to pay more for a single of it..
My favorite cards for modern out of the set are Ashiok and Blast Zone. I want to hold hope for at least one god making an impact, but the problem is that the second I see a 4 mana card I think midrange, and midrange is just dead in a format dominated by control and fast aggro strategies. Technically, there's way too much stuff messing around in the graveyard right now to the point I've played with Cremate due to it being unexpected against all these decks that want to mulligan until some specific card gets pulled and then pitched turn 1 or turn 2 to the yard.
The problem with predicting what is good in the new set is that no one has really built a deck with the design space opened up to such a degree. Walkers that are enchantments, even if they are costed at 3+, are pretty damn powerful even at uncommon. The main issue is combating the degeneracy that got introduced from expanding on existing areas like recurring graveyard threats. The new Teferi is another one of the walkers that I think is going to become a staple pretty fast.
1. (Ravnica Allegiance): You can't keep a good esper control deck down... Or Wilderness Reclamation... or Gates...
2. (War of the Spark): Guys, I know what we need! We need a cycle of really idiotic flavor text victory cards! Jace's Triumph...
3. (War of the Spark): Lets make the format with control have even more control!
This contradicts what Wizards says in their latest MTGO announcement:

MODERN HORIZONS JUNE 6
Modern Horizons is on the horizon. Expect more details on the arrival of this new set in the coming weeks and as soon as previews start on May 19.
Bold emphasis mine: Wizards says that Modern Horizons previews actually start on May 19.
Just want to add a little more before this thread dies. Dovin's Veto is also really good. For my UW deck, it's an almost strict upgrade to negate. Rare scenario where negate is better is when only have a ghost quarter and an island.. but I'm probably losing anyway, if those are all the lands I got.
Narset is certainly strong. Her static ability almost looks like it was created to hose faithless looting.
A pain for my Mardu Pyro deck if she is cast by the opponent in the early turns and I don't have a Dreadbore.
Could someone tell me what are the narset probabilities of failing to draw anything? The minimum number of noncreatures nonlands spells in your deck for Narset to not fail most of the time.

With 35 non-land, non-creature, the chance of drawing something else is 25/60 or 42%. Chance of failing to draw a non-land non-creature four times in a row is roughly 0.42^4 = 0.03 or 3%. With 30 non-land, non-creature it with roughly be 0.5^4 = 0.0625 or 6%. You will fail most of the time (>50%) when you have 0.5^0.25 = 0.84 or 84% of your spells is creature or land. This is when you have 10 or less nonland noncreature cards in your 60 card deck.

I may as well quote what I said in the Rumor Mill: we have a contradictory announcement that says that MH1 previews actually start on May 19.
I'm hyped!
