So, this is the first deck I've really been playing competitively in modern, and it's been going well so far. Would love any feedback on this build of mono red storm.
He did just as well as I did with my "real" modern deck 1-3 :/.
Since it did just as well as I did with my other deck that kind of makes me want to give this another try.
I am thinking about Mass hysteria, he managed to go off against me but couldn't win because he was always one mana short of bushwacker, Wait perhaps it's time to try locket!
I'll have to think of a real sideboard and proxy it up for next week. there is no cost for entry which allows me to be free to just try anything.
I've been playing a Grapeshot storm deck for about 6 months now, mostly because I enjoy the challenge of Shot-ing someone out. Never really built a proper sideboard, but the usual form involves Young Pyros, DGrids, Empties, Whackers and Bolts. It's been shockingly good for me. Usually kills on turn 3/4, but I've succeeded with the mystical T2 quite a few times as well. I'd like to up the multiples of a few cards, for triggering the Ascension, but it's never really been an issue. Anyway, here's the list I've been enjoying.
The most fun and synergic deck i've played, since ever. Attack with 30 creatures? EZ. Play whole deck on turn 4? EZ. Altghough not competitive enough (for now).
Gitaxian Probes and Past in Flames, should be somewhere but I couldn't try it yet ($$$$ reasons) so if someone want to play really degenerative, try it out.
PS: No one will ever play blood moon against you, so no worry making some land splash. There are lots of hate for this kind of deck, most in the form of enchantments. Sideboard, must come from extensive gameplay and testing. The deck by itself needs alot of pratice
I played battle hymn + YP in standard, but I'd be concerned that it will be a bad top deck and you kind of need to get going first before it becomes good. Something like Pyroclasm and oblivion stone and things you'll have to deal with. And I like to just draw into the cards you need to go off and take people out.
I prefer to have 4 faithless looting it's my favourite card in the deck, I keep all hands with looting and a least a land.
The storage lands, fungal reaches, are rather good, I guess they are less important without PiF though. You have a lot more lands than I do.
It is still the most fun deck I have ever played, even-though I managed to obtain a UR list and move on.
Hey guys, I didn't know there was a forum for this kind of deck, so since this is the deck I was already using I figure I'll post it here. Tell me what you think and where it could use some tinkering, and SB. I'm sure as you guys know it's like a turn two - four deck, and I have won 4 games turn one on the draw (its quite lucky)
It is an interesting take using Nivmagus Elemental and storm spells to make the elemental really big. It is very budget friendly aside from the Pact Of Negation and Blood Moon in the side
@brandonjames I don't really like shared animosity seems too much mana for what you get out of it. I understand why you might consider cutting pyromancer's ascension without the can trips it is much harder to turn on but when you do .. you win which makes me just prefer the card. However, your deck is the definition of all in, I'd be worried about contested war zone being stolen by burn or zoo who can get out just as fast as you can. My version has an eye on the later game with past in flames and fungal reaches to have a chance to grind out a game if I have to. simian spirit guide isn't exactly budget :/
@Beac0n Hmm the deck has 0 card draw you basically have to mulligan to find a creature then hope to find enough spells to kill. I would have a hard time not at least playing faithless looting.. perhaps I'd consider magmatic insight or tormenting voice just to be able to find things. especially with so many lands.

I saw that video series, the deck looks strong. Perhaps for consistency you could cut a grapeshot or two and some mutagenic growths for Faithless Looting

I agree with your take on Shared Animosity as I cut it a few days ago. I wanted more consistency, and this is my updated list to date:

- 2 Shared Animosity
- 2 Reckless Bushwhacker
+ 1 Goblin Bushwhacker
+ 2 Mountain
+ 2 Magmatic Insight
+ 1 Noxious Revival
Think I should try to fit two Fungal Reaches into this deck by cutting a mountain and a Contested War Zone? Also I must say this deck feels and performs much better
15 Mountain
Engine (16)
4 Reforge the Soul
4 Past in Flames
4 Pyromancer Ascension
4 Locket of Yesterdays
Draw (12)
4 Faithless Looting

3 Ancient Grudge
4 Guttural Response
4 Empty the Warrens

I let someone borrow the deck who hadn't played it before the match.. I didn't have a sideboard ready. proxies were allowed.

I finally managed to trade for serum visions so I realised I could play actual UR storm.

Hello,
Just found this variant of Mono-Red Storm on Channel Fireball's YouTube channel:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j0bHIaE3K90
It is an interesting take using Nivmagus Elemental and storm spells to make the elemental really big. It is very budget friendly aside from the Pact Of Negation and Blood Moon in the side
Here is the decklist:
4 Flamekin Harbinger
4 Nivmagus Elemental
4 Kiln Fiend
Spells
4 Gitaxian Probe
4 Ground Rift
4 Mutagenic Growth
4 Desperate Ritual
4 Grapeshot
2 Pyretic Ritual
4 Temur Battle Rage
4 Manamorphose
18 Mountain
4 Pact of Negation
4 Tormod's Crypt
4 Apostle's Blessing
1 Hedron Alignment
2 Blood Moon
I am thinking about trying it out at an FNM.

The storm cards are notably missing as the finishers as I think they'd at least be better than Devastating Summons for the most part.
