Man, I don’t think I can get on board with that line of thought. I don’t think Student cuts it anymore. He’s obsolete as far as I’m concerned. Bodyguard is a decent option, but I’m not a big fan of the fact that he’s so mediocre turn-1 or on an empty board. He’s a good Vial target for combat tricks and protection, but I want to be able to play my 1-drops on the first turn without missing out on their best abilities. I also think the 1/2 stats of KotEL are more relevant than Bodyguards 2/1.
More than anything, I think most builds of Knights have to be extra aggressive since they don’t have as much disruption as say, Humans or Spirits. They need to be swinging straight out of the gate. I feel like KotEL helps us immensely with that plan by giving us an aggressive 1-drop. That pump ability he has is nothing to scoff at, offensively or defensively. Deathtouch is a big deal, as well as the fact that there’s no “once per turn” clause on the pump.
Edit: The more I think about this card the better it looks. Just threatening an activation on this thing puts your opponent in some awkward situations. If they don’t block and he pumps, he hits for 4 and gets a +1/+1 counter at EoT. If they do block, whatever they blocked with is dead. He makes them second guess when attack with a creature they care about. He can get himself well out of Bolt range. He scales up WAY better than Student ever could. I think that’s a miscalculation saying it’s “probably not better” than those other 1-drops. He’s far and away better, as far as I’m concerned. A whole lotta Knight for 1cmc.
Do y'all think Colossus Hammer and Unsettled Mariner can make Puresteel Knights viable? That hammer seems like it'd be pretty nice attached to a Mirran Crusader, or even an Inkmoth Nexus if you could clear the way for it ('cause it would lose flying, of course). Don't forget that Mariner would protect your equipment as well. I don't know if Danitha Capashen, Paragon or Novice Knight would be worth their inclusion or not, but they're worth consideration at least. There's some other more obscure stuff like Magnetic Theft and Mind Bend too. Just throwing that out there. Oh, and I guess Giver of Runes is worth mentioning.
Mostly Mariner and the new Hammer seem like they could really give that deck some much needed disruption and explosiveness, even making it possible to win with a single swing.
Edit: Also, looks like the other Cavaliers are mostly duds. I think the red one had the highest power level by far. Oh well.
I think the rest of the deck would look a lot like old Puresteel lists. Aether Vials, a lot of other cheap equipment to take advantage of Puresteel, maybe a Sword of This and That or two. Maybe a Steelshaper’s Gift or two.
The only thing I’m not certain of is if it would be better as Human Tribal instead of Knight Tribal. I hope not, honestly, cuz I’m tired of Humans and I really really want to make a good Knight Tribal deck. Really it all depends on whether Knight Exemplar pulls her weight or not. 3cmc is really expensive, but indestructibility is a pretty rare and sweet thing to bestow on all your critters. Still, all the knights are Humans and would translate over to a human build with easily with Swiftblade Vindicator as a great addition.
I know this wasn’t in response to the Colossus Hammer discussion, but I figured I’d save a post and reply here. Man, I just think the 3cmc slots are already so strongly contested with cards that are a little bit better and/or synergistic. I don’t see him being worth it.

MODERN: BRGJUNDGRB---BRHOLLOW ONERB---BGELVESGB---BRGLIVING ENDGRB---GWBOGLESWG EDH: BRGKARRTHUS, TYRANT OF JUNDGRB
I've been reading this thread and others on and of for the last 2 days. It's been interesting, but now my head is so filled with info that I can't keep it straight.
I've seen a lot of green and white decks but not so many mono-white decks. Altough I saw a couple of Puresteel builds earlier in this thread or in some other thread that looked interesting, but a bit to expensive. Puresteel + Stoneforge (legacy) + jitte(legacy)/sword of X+Y/batterskull etc. all seems interesting though.
Here's my Mono-White list.
Notes:
I often play casually vs 1-3 opponents (1vs1 or multiplayer) where format is less important. Decks can be anything from vintage legal (often due to using 1 tinker or 1 Sol Ring ) to modern legal. So if you have any tips on (budget) cards that are legacy/vintage then please share
Sigiled Sword is really slow but will give value over time if matches drag out, which they are more inclined to do in multiplayer. It's also somewhat of a pet peeve of mine, so I'm inclined to keep it.
+1 student of warfare (when it arrives) and -1 tempest of light (was playing in a local tournament with many enchantment heavy control decks)
Always watching costs 1 more than Honor of the pure, but vigilance has really paid of. Especially in multiplayer. Thinking about getting another one.
Regarding Aether Vial: My experience with vial is that it, at best, lets me play an extra 2-drop at turn 3 and then it might provide an extra 3-drop at turn 4. Also, it let's me vial in at end of turn. Sure, it's great but maybe not great enough. Drawing a 2nd vial at turn 3 isn't the most fun either. The number of combat tricks with Knights is a lot less compared to my Legacy Slivers and my Modern Eldrazi and Taxes so Vial seems a bit lackluster. Maybe it's not worth it?

What do your mono-white lists look like? What would you add/remove if you had access to legacy legality?
This was the last list I posted. It was nearly five years ago. It was great when 75% of the kids at the LGS played Zombies, Rakdos, Burn or Goblins. I don't think it would beat anything in the store these days.
A Puresteel Paladin deck might steal some games now with that ridiculous new Colossus Hammer; but I can't really bring myself to believe mono-W Knights are ready for a comeback.
I still dream of Knight of the Reliquary and especially Haakon, Stromgald Scourge decks, but I've never gotten around to either. There are certainly decks that use KotR, but they aren't Knight decks and Haakon is pretty much just a gimmick. Still, I will probably continue to dream.

I tried to quote this the last time I posted, dunno why it din't work. But I would reeaally like to see a draft of a list here!
A Puresteel Paladin or Sigarda's Aid list could steal some games with Colossus Hammer. I wouldn't be surprised if one could run UW and throw in enough counter-magic to make it work more reliably.
Protection is big, and right now, I think Protection from W is what's needed. Perhaps a BW list with Sigarda's Aid could crush UW Control. Of course, with Phyrexian Crusader on board, the combo is insta-kill.
I suppose Esper might be do-able, especially if one limits the U to one-CMC counters.
Has to have at least 6 knights in new set coming so fingers crossed for them being good, I get the feeling there will be a powerful few white knights as they are so much at the centre of fairy tales and especially the camalot theme of the set like I expect some mythic knights.
Not really impressed so far, but then I've only been looking for cards that are "strictly better" or "clearly good" and that can stand on their own. It seems to me that Standard definitely will have knight tribal (so far) but not sure about modern inclusions. Or if it will be enough to "turn the tide".
(Equipment-knights ft. Stoneforge might be doable.)

There might be a deck that can use Puresteel Paladin, but would it be a Knight deck?
There's another Darth-suitable knight that has been spoiled: Foulmire Knight. I'm rooting for Haakon to finally get the respect he deserves! I'm not sure this little guy is actually indicative of that, but maybe there's more to come. Corpse Knight may be a boost.
The link for Foulmire Knight isn't working yet. Give it a little while.

You draw a card and you lose one life.
i have doubts about how the new cards can be played. I mean: Foulmire Knight can be played in each of his modes? Should be played in order (first draw and later the guy)? Can be haakoned in both modes btw?
I also always loved the haakon route, and right now, I'm very intrigued in a list I developed in the past (although it worked really fine, it was discarded because all the grave hate), but now I would like to see if it can compete in the new meta (and even more with eldraine cards!!).
The deck has some plans A) swarm cheap knights and tokens and win via history. B) Use haakon recursiveness to kick out the opponent from the game. C) fire off the opponent with the corpse and all entering the battlefield triggers (you can use bloodline on each turn. In previous versions Squee, goblin nabob help me on this task but in the last lists I don't have enough pay offs to include them in the deck and even more with all the grave hate ramping everywhere thanks to hogaak. Anyways it can be included with smallpox as well to get advantage of this).
Another thing I'm very intrigued abouth is if the list with colossus hammer and sigarda's aid and the so is competitive enough for modern. Does anybody tested those lists?
The Adventure should generally be played first, otherwise it's probably not going to be played at all. The creature can be cast from Exilt after the Adventure is played. It isn't clear if the creature can played from Exile under any other circumstance but it seems that's likely to be the case.
I do love Haakon even though I've never gotten around to building it. It's on my bucket list.
The Isolated Chapels really need to get pitched; you've got six other lands that will let you bring them in untapped. A Cave or two isn't awful, fetches seem good, and a Fetid Heath wouldn't suck. The Flagstones don't seem to be of much use without Smallpox.

Student is much easier on the mana and stays a 3/3 with first strike after just a 2-mana investment.
And that's the question isn't it? There are arguments for all four colors.
The new Cavalier of Knight might be playable in B Devotion, but five-CMC looks like too much for Darth Knights. Sorry Haakon.
