some pieces would be:
Mulch - dumps cards in graveyard and ensure a land drop.
Commune with the Gods - search for creature of enchantments plus it also dump cards in graveyard.
How is cryptbreaker working for you guys? I'm not sure if it's good or not.
I've playtested cryptbreaker some and I think the card is pretty awesome for a 1-drop. I think playing that turn 1 and discarding something like Prized Amalgam turn two to make a 2/2 zombie is pretty sweet. The draw seems really nice too if you keep zombies up for blockers and then tap at the end of the opponent's turn to draw an extra card.
I have been working on the below list since EMN came out and I am really excited to take it to FNM as soon as I can. The deck is centered around Diregraf Colossus and Haakon, Stromgald Scourge counting Nameless Inversion as a zombie and a knight. This card has a lot of synergy with the deck because I can pitch it to Cryptbreaker or Grisly Salvage and still cast it multiple times with Haakon. For diregraf colossus, it adds a +1/+1 counter to it when its in the graveyard and if I cast it I get another 2/2 zombie. With this list I have 10 zombies that come back to the battlefield extremely easy and 14 ways to put them in the graveyard. I think Grisly Salvage and Liliana, the Last Hope are both very good card selection choices that also help fill the yard for more zombie shenanigans.
Would you consider Grapple with the Past over Grisly Salvage? Let's you bring any land/creature from your GY to your hand instead of the 5 revealed with Salvage. Also it only requires 1 green instead of 1 green and 1 black. Which can be slightly easier to cast.

made a choice between dimir and golgari build and chooses golgari as my color as it provides better graveyard enabler, removal and sideboard options.
here's my take with modern zombies, the decks objective is to put cards in graveyard for an early prized amalgam or delved angler, zombies takes graveyard advantage right
After I get my cards I want to test Deadly Allure. Can work really well with recurring creatures or tokens or with menace. Also gets used twice and has the fun theme of my zombies at your creatures.
If I remember correctly I found a similar list to this on tappedout somewhere and changed it a little.
It's been pretty fun to play and fairly good overall.
I'm glad i found this thread, now i can post my list here! My version is mono black, the reasoning being not losing life due to lands because i want to use my life total to draw cards.
So the deck is basically discard, removal, card draw and zombie tokens:
Went 3-0 yesterday with this, beating living end, merfolk and jeskai thing in the ice ascension. MVP has been vengeful pharaoh. I just added Kalistas today, i think he should be great. The weak link is fleshbag marauder, they would likely be liliana of the veil if i had them. The deck is full of synegies and very fun. It is a bit slow but it can slow down the opponent. I like diregraf colossus better than lords because you can wait until it is bolt proof or until you cast a zombie right after it, so that you get at least some value if it dies.
Just wanted to report, i've been playing my mono-black version for a couple of weeks in small local tournament and doing well with it (currently 11-2 in matches)
My list is the same as the one i posted above but with better lands:
I've also improved the sideboard. Crypt incursion comes vs living end/dredge and such, but also vs burn. Gaining 6 or 9 life with it is pretty valuable, we can even target ourselves if we need to. Wail of the nim is the only sweeper protection i found in mono-black. The damage mode is also useful vs elves, tokens, etc. Stromgald crusader is new and i like it vs white decks with flyers, which we are weak to. Considering adding a 4th maybe, having a solid creature vs rest in peace decks seems worth it.

I'm glad someone is interested Before you playtest though i have been playing the deck some more and have made a few adjustments:
First i now play a 2:2 split between IoK and TS. I found sometimes i want to hit bigger stuff and the life loss isn't so bad since i don't take dmg from my lands.
The other change i made was to play relentless dead instead of blood scrivener. In testing i found i rarely get to draw a card off of it and the additional value i get from dead has been better.
Lastly i swapped fleshbag marauder for liliana, the last hope. She has been great but if you want to try out the deck without spending money on lilis right away fleshbag isn't bad at all.
To accomodate these changes i play 18 black sources (16 swamps + urborg + shizo) plus 2 cavern, so that i have 20 lands that can cast relentless dead and 18 that cast lili. I am currently 18-5 on matches with the deck and i will keep testing it but i think i'm happy with my current list.
First you only have 6 cards (gravecrawler x4 and rotting rats x2) to enable prized amalgam in the graveyard. This seems too few. Yes you also have relentless dead's second die mode but it seems like a lot of trouble just to get a 3/3 on the board.
Then there is the blasting station combo with gravecrawler, which is similar to Sam Black's zombardment deck in legacy. I've trying to make this good a long time ago in modern but it just doesn't seem worth the trouble. Maybe it is ok in your shell, it is definitely powerful and i'd love it to work, but in the past station was often a liability without crawler.
Things i like: Smuggler's copter seems very good. One issue i've had with the deck is dealing with flyers and this is a nice colorless answer to them! And the looting is obviously great. The failed lightning bolt test isn't so bad when you play 8 card that look at the opponent's hand to see if the coast is clear.
Lotleth troll is very good with vengeful pharaoh, namely. This may or may not be worth the green splash, i'm not sure yet. And yes green gives you great sideboard option. My favorite is golgari charm. An efficient anti-sweeper card OR a great sweeper vs go wide decks that should not affect our own board that much OR removal for RIP and other non-sense. Make sure to include at least 2 in your sideboard
I really like the burning force list lot. Perhaps the only change I wold make in that list is cutting 1 prized amalgam (because three seems enough) for another card. Perhaps 1 dark salvation or a hard removal.
And there are lot of synergy between each card and the rest of the deck.
Copter is great for discarding vengeful pharaoh while provides some aggro in the air and make gravecrawler can block ;).
With this list you have 14 discard outlets to make great use of all your recursive zombies and 7 ways to return your amalgams
The machine gun combo is sweet to me. A couple of blasting stations is something that can finish off the opponent if is at low life and can kill lot of thinks combined with crawlers or the other stuff. In addition to that prevents that anger of the gods ruin your day completely
Really nice list sir :). The only thing I'm not very sold at is that you are not using any hard removal (not including vengeful pharaoh because it's more sinergy than true removal), so perhaps including any (dismember, go for the throat, doom blade,...or this is a waste of slots? In fact, the best option should be Fleshbag Marauder which is recurrable with your relentless dead. What do you think?
I've removed completely the rats because you already have 12 cards to discard which seems enough and the role rats play to unearth can be replaced with the haakon one, and the last is more powerful than rats.
I've also added a single Fleshbag Marauder which can be a hard removal if needed against creatures that don't die with nameless and brutalities
I've included two dismembers because lot of deck nowdays plays kalitas and he disturb our recursive threats a lot so we need an instant way to deal with him and with other big dudes that people play nowdays. I've removed one blasting station because we only need one and multiples is garbage, but not removed them completely because when it appears usually is gamebreaking. I've also removed one haakon for the same reasons. One is enough.
THis list is performing really well. What do you think?
I really like the list above but I have my own concerns as well
I've been playing modern zombies for some time now, testing several different builds. Through my testing, Relentless Dead has always seemed like a great inclusion for your two drop slots, but for me he has not been performing very well at all. The most efficient part of him has been the Menace. Which is not very good late game or if opponent has more than 1 blocker.
With moderns current meta shifting to quicker decks I decided to make a faster zombie deck with the inclusion of Dark Confidant to fill the Relentless Dead slots.
Running bobs also means you want to keep your cards under 3 CMC for the most part in order to not take too much damage. So far Bob has been really really good for zombies for me as it's gaining me a that extra draw which seems huge! Also, opponents aren't as likely to kill Bob for 2 main reasons, they want you to take damage off your card draw and you're most likely going to have bigger threats on board that they will want to get rid of first.
Your list seems more painful to me with leeches and bobs, which make the deck faster but easier to race for decks like burn, death shadow and the so.
How good is being Cryptbreaker for you? I tested it and not liked at all because a small body that need to tap to activate is slow and not efficient for me.

I tend to try and cast Diregraf Colossus if there are 2 or more zombies in my graveyard to prevent him from taking a bolt.
The Dark Confidant's are the latest inclusion in the deck after I was running out of gas too quick in most games without it. Keeping the deck's over CMC under 3 tends to not affect your life total enough to lose you the game.
For now I will be keeping the Cryptbreaker's in as a 4 of.
That all being said, I think Liliana, the Last Hope is too slow for this deck, she will probably come out.
some pieces would be:
Mulch - dumps cards in graveyard and ensure a land drop.
Commune with the Gods - search for creature of enchantments plus it also dump cards in graveyard.
Cemetery Recruitment seems not bad, Dark Salvation is interesting as well (for 1 mana it can be an ok removal spell with a couple of zombies).

4 Overgrown Tomb
4 Woodland Cemetery
4 Bloodstained Mire
2 Llanowar Waste
4 Swamp
1 Forest
4 Gravecrawler
4 Prized Amalgam
4 Lotleth Troll
4 Satyr Wayfinder
3 Gurmag Angler
3 Diregraf Ghoul
3 Bloodghast
2 fleshbag marauder
1 Rotting Rats
4 Grisly Salvage
4 Ghoulcaller's Chant
3 Nameless Inversion
2 Sinister Concoction
http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/zombies-eat-your-brain-1/
card choices:
gravecrawler / bloodghast / rotting rats - for amalgam enabler, other choice are haunted dead
grisly salvage / satyr wayfinder - for dumping cards in the graveyard also for land insurance
sinister concoction - graveyard enabler and also for removal
nameless inversion / fleshbag marauder - for removal (can be returned from graveyard via ghoulcaller's chant)
prized amalgam / lotleth troll / gurmag angler - main beaters
bloodstained mire - due to budget constraint, verdant catacomb is too expensive, the deck is more black (70%) than green so this might suffice.
Other cards that i'm looking into:
graf harvest
collective brutality
relentless dead
diregraf colossus
collected company
ghoultree
**this is still a list, i have the cards in my collection but haven't tested the deck yet.
It's been pretty fun to play and fairly good overall.
4 Gravecrawler
4 Relentless Dead
4 Death Baron
4 Diregraf Captain
4 Dreg Mangler
Spells (14)
2 Rancor
4 Æther Vial
3 Abrupt Decay
1 Beast Within
1 Maelstrom Pulse
3 Collected Company
4 Breeding pool
3 Forest
4 Overgrown Tomb
4 Swamp
1 Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth
4 Windswept Heath
2 Wooded Foothills
1 Gray Merchant of Asphodel
2 Extirpate
3 Inquisition of Kozilek
2 Thoughtseize
1 Vampiric Link
2 Go for the Throat
1 Damnation
1 Rancor
1 Abrupt Decay
1 Maelstrom pulse
Fetch lands are the wrong colors cause I personally do not own the enemy fetchlands.
B/W - http://magic.tcgplayer.com/db/article.asp?ID=13520
It is more of a B/W midrange/control deck with some zombies (mostly weak ones).
B/G - https://www.mtggoldfish.com/articles/budget-magic-98-39-tix-modern-gb-zombies
An aggro budget build.
Also if you have Death Baron/Lord of the Undead I would rather use one of them over Diregraf Colossus.
So the deck is basically discard, removal, card draw and zombie tokens:
4 inquisition of kozilek
4 dark salvation
4 collective brutality
creatures: 26
4 cryptbreaker
4 gravecrawler
4 blood scrivener
4 rotting rats
4 diregraf colossus
2 fleshbag marauder
2 Kalitas, traitor of ghet
2 vengeful pharaoh
18 swamp
4 tectonic edge
2 nihil spellbomb
2 pithing needle
2 ratchet bomb
4 duress
2 big game hunter
3 shamble back

nice suggestion! if budget permits, i'd swap some copies of cemetery reaper and a few copy of diregraf colossus with a mix of death baron and lord of the undead. now we have a recurring removal in the form of lord of the undead and nameless inversion.

How good is being Cryptbreaker for you? I tested it and not liked at all because a small body that need to tap to activate is slow and not efficient for me.
Yeah, you're definitely correct about it being more painful. I am still playtesting but overall it seems pretty good.
Cryptbreaker has actually been working out very well for me. I tend to use both of his abilities equally as much. If I have 3 or more zombies on board, it's a great way to grab an extra card at the end of opponents turn or in response to removal. Occasionally you get stuck with unplayable cards or have a Gravecrawler in hand, you can discard it and get an extra body and then play your Gravecrawler. I would also go with Relentless Dead over Putrid Leech.
Also one of the "Zombie Lords" might be a good fit for the 3-drop slot.
