@ManDolphin: Nice list! Spell Queller works best in combination with T3feri though. If you somehow can jam 3x Teferi in this list it should work even better.
What I really find interesting in your SB is Sword of Truth and Justice! I never paid a lot of attention to this card but it could really help in one of my worst match-ups with the new CopyCat deck, which is UW Control. And with 8 PWs in my deck proliferate should be really good... I have to test it.

Thanks! Not sure what I'd take out for T3teri, but I really want to try him out with Spell Queller. Sword of Truth and Justice was a test card for the UW matchup and it was very good there, however fairly useless against everything else. If you're looking for a card specifically for UW Stoneblade/Control then it's great, but if you want a sword that's all around good in the U matchups then I'd recommend Sword of Fire and Ice (Note: I wish I had the money for this thing but it's too expensive!!!). Since Sword of Truth and Justice is so inexpensive then I recommend picking it up for testing especially in CopyCat since you've got so many PW's that would benefit from the proliferate like you said. I think they're $10 right now at the time of this post? I also picked up a Sword of Sinew and Steel just in case since they're even cheaper then its UW cousin.
Fires of Invention Enchantment
You may only cast spells during your turn, and can't cast more than two spells each turn.
You may cast spells with converted mana cost less than or equal to the number of lands you control without paying their mana costs.
Could be really good in a jeskia deck. If we abandon normal thinking and go full aggro. The "may" has me concerned. usually may is an option but in this context I think it is a command. Imagine a savor the moment deck
Today I played in a Two-Player-Queue again and my opponent was on Four-Color Whirza.
The match was very intense so I'd like to share it here: Game 1 & Game 3
Since I don't want to spoil anything I'll hide my comment below.
Game 1 my opponent's Ghirapur Æther Grid successfully prevented my combo but SFM grinded him out. Drawing my main Abrade was also important.
Game 1 he we infinite with Urza + Foundry + Sword. I had Surgical in hand but Surgical can't stop the combo once all three parts are assembled.
Game 3 I went for the win early but had one of his 2 SB Fatal Pushes. But then I was lucky too when he played a Tezzeret and not Urza...
The turn I had RiP on top I should have drawn it with my Horizon land, that was sloppy.
All in all the match was very thrilling!
Very cool idea WickedApp! I LOVE me some Savor the Moment. I think it is highly underrated.
I am just super high on The Royal Scions right now. I have been testing a main deck copy and a sideboard copy and it has been really really good. It is super strong in some of our bad matchups like UW control and Jund. Giving a snapcaster or swiftspear +2/+0 and first strike and trample is way more strong than it sounds when each life point matters so much to our deck.
I really want to give Faerie Vandal a try too. I haven't yet, but I think it will be good. I did notice on the MTG stream they said that there are several mythic adventure cards left to be spoiled including a red one. I am excited to see what that is given that having a card with a spell and a creature all in one card is great for our style of deck. I was hoping for a blue adventure card that was a cantrip and a creature on one card. That would fit right into the deck, but may be too good.
StevomatUWR- I love these videos. How have you done against the Whirza deck in general. I have heard a lot of people say it's broken, but I have yet to lose to the deck yet. It seems to lean very heavily on Urza and it takes a long time to get going. Has anyone had a rough time against the Whirza deck? I wonder if the pilots I have played against just weren't as experienced with the deck.
ManDolphin- I had not even thought about Sword of Truth and Justice, but in a deck with a lot of 3 drop walkers this card would be sick. Really cool tech. I have seen a couple of Sword of Sinew and Steel running around as well.
Wow. That is an all-in copycat list. 4 Astrolabes! Right now with a grindy meta I think copycat is in a great position. It's always awesome to see someone's deck on here to well in a big time event. Is anyone else going with the copy cat version? It looks like you guys are onto something great. It's not my cup of tea, and I don't think I would pilot it very well, but it looks great in the hands of Stevomat and others.
Very cool to see. Thanks for sharing the list GPash
Jim Davis played a league today with Jeskai Copycat without SFM but also with 4 Astrolabes. Here's the league
Funny thing is that he actually plays one match against SebastianStueckl (the guy with the 5-0 posted by GPash) and wins. However, I think the build with SFM is much more resilient and I don't think that Astrolabes are a necessary addtion.
@CurdBros: I haven't played versus Whirza often with this new deck. But I lost against it pretty often with my Jeskai Delver list.

Looks like Jim had a tough go of it in that league. I agree that the astrolabes just didn't appear to be all that necessary in many of the games. They would have been better off being a lot of other things in most of those games. I don't think you need the additional speed they offer to the deck. Then again, I have not played the deck and am not a pro so I assume Jim and other pros that have experience with the deck would know much better than me. Teferi looked a little wonky in some of the matchups as well. I'm sure he is excellent in the more grindy matchups, but in other matchups he just looked a bit too slow and didn't affect the game enough. I would likely play only two copies if I wasn't playing spell queller also. I currently have one copy in my list as a "catch all", however my list is extremely different from copy cat.
What did you find difficult about the matchup with the delver list? I guess it makes sense that a more midrange version of the delver deck without FON would struggle against Whirza, whereas a midrange deck with a combo finish (like copycat) would be favored I would believe. I need more reps against the deck to get a true feeling about the matchup. I do have a maindeck Abrade and Teferi, Time Raveler so my matchup may be slightly better than most. I just need more reps against a skilled opponent I think
Hello everyone,
Dunno where to start, i just love delver and young pyro and of course SFM which is so darn cool and jeskai are definetly colors i wanna play but since im on budget dont belive i can make SFM deck any time soon sooooo i have couple of questions.
@Chaughey i found your deck on mtggoldfish: https://www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/2213029#paper and it looks pretty awesome and its somewhere i want to be but for now snappy and scalding tarn are my biggest problems so here we go
For creatures iv decided to go:
4 Delver of Secrets
4 Young Pyromancer
2 Geist of Saint Traft
and i wanted to put 4x more either Dreadhorde Arcanist or Spell Queller i cant decide between those two, with new card The Royal Scions maybe arcanist isnt bad idea to replace those snapcasters until i can afford them im really interested to hear what you guys think.
For spells this is where i stand atm:
4 Lightning Bolt
4 Opt
4 Path to Exile
4 Serum Visions
2 Spell Pierce
3 Lightning Helix
3 Mana Leak
2 Archmage's Charm
Maybe cutting down one Helix and putting Logic Knot it im not sure i saw Chaghey list and thats somewhere i want to be
4 Lightning Bolt
4 Opt
4 Path to Exile
4 Serum Visions
2 Lightning Helix
2 Archmage's Charm
4 Force of Negation
2 Cryptic Command
FoN is really expensive but i guess i will work on getting a couple versions of those.
And now for my biggest problem lands. I know its really hard to play three color in modern on a budget i guess its really hard to play anything on a budget in modern but with help of CurdBros we figured out something like:
1 Adarkar Wastes
1 Clifftop Retreat
1 Glacial Fortress
1 Hallowed Fountain
2 Island
1 Mountain
2 Plains
1 Sacred Foundry
1 Seachrome Coast
2 Shivan Reef
4 Spirebluff Canal
1 Steam Vents
1Sulfur Falls
And somewhere i see my self going is something like this
2 Celestial Colonnade
1 Fiery Islet
4 Flooded Strand
1 Hallowed Fountain
2 Island
1 Plains
1 Sacred Foundry
1 Seachrome Coast
2 Shivan Reef
2 Spirebluff Canal
2 Steam Vents
1 Sunbaked Canyon
I dont know this just me trying to replace some lands maybe go one Arid mesa or putting some Prismatic Vista and going for more basic since Scalding Tarn is so expensive im not quite sure, building land base is so hard
And last but not least sideboard:
2 Tormod's Crypt
2 Abrade
3 Dovin's Veto
2 Lightning Helix
1 Rest in Peace
1 Timely Reinforcements
1 Celestial Purge
1 Ashiok, Dream Render
Maybe
1 Chandra, Pyromaster
1 Elspeth, Knight-Errant
1 Wear // Tear
2 Disdainful Stroke
1 Anger of the Gods
So that about sums it up, im really interested in what all of you guys think, i know budget probably is not really popular subject here but gotta start somewhere i guess, i would appreciate any suggestions on what to bring in and out whats good and what is not, and cant wait to get some feedback as im eager to start buying some cards and start playing!
We love a challenge here and I'm sure you will find a lot of help on this thread. I'm glad I could help earlier, but I definitely think you will be very pleased having a bunch of smarter individuals than myself help out on here :). The fetch lands can be very important so if you can possibly get even 4 total copies of a blue based fetch lands and possibly red based fetch lands it will really help with flooding and fixing. I know it can be really tough, especially in any area where cards are harder to find, but at least they maintain their value.
When I get a bit more time to take a look after work I will post more about your deck. With that said, Chaughey's lists are always great place to start because he puts up results big time. We are lucky to have him as a member who posts on here for help.
This looks like a tempo player's wet dream come true
I wonder if it will be as good as Clique.
Btw, there was another vid of the Saheeli Cat deck today and even though I don't want to flood this thread with the combo deck I do want to post Corey Baumeister's video here because he's having sooo much fun with the deck!
Just look at him. So much joy
This card seems pretty good. Could replace echoing truth though it is a weaker unsummon than truth it has the tempo play of turning into 3+ damage.
Tough to evaluate vs echoing truth. but theres no denying that it has alot of utility as once the fairie dies you can snap back the petty theft. So in our deck this card has tremendous value. I may put one in the sideboard in place of my extra cryptic command or echoing truth.

I will definitely be adding this as a one of. It's a great versatile card that has a "catch all" attached to it. I won't dropping echoing truth because it's so good, but may have to part with my Vapor Snag. I love this card.
If you already have access to Young Pyromancer, Delver, and Geist you have a solid base for your creatures. I think you list looks extremely solid you have listed it. I know FON is very expensive, but does help a lot in a delver build and is even more important in Young Pyromancer and Geist builds. However, Spell Pierce can often be used in a very similar fashion in the early game. You have to have one mana up, but for a budget deck you could use a couple spell pierce for the time being.
Other than that the deck looks solid. I would just slowly try to build up the mana base a bit as you can. Try to get 4-6 blue fetches or 4 blue and 2 arid mesa. You could even start with 4 arid mesa because they are typically less expensive and just have more blue sources that are not fetachable like fast lands.
I think Archmage's Charm is a great "budget" option to replace cryptic command and/or planeswalkers. I know it's not really a pure budget card, but its less than cryptic command.
Another card that you could save for in the future is Snapcaster Mage. Really you don't need 4 copies. Even just two copies would be extremely helpful in the grindy matchups. But that is just a future idea. They definitely aren't necessary and a great deck can be built around young pyro and delver.
Another way you can play a budget build is to go a bit more aggro.Mantis Rider, Swiftspear, Remand, etc are a bit less expensive than the more midrange counter parts like the planeswalkers, cryptic, etc. Typically more aggro decks are easier to build on a budget in jeskai.
Just some ideas, but I think if you can make the build you have listed that you will be in great shape and will win plenty of the time.
Stevomat- You can never put too many videos up. I think everyone likes watching them.
@Cholenburg: Sorry for being late. Back before Force of Negation we used to run Disrupting Shoal, but that requires you to measure the number of blue cards in the deck and what their converted mana costs are. It's a fairly cheap alternative to FoN, but obviously not as versatile. Another needed addition would be Snapcaster Mage, but I know you're on a budget so this can't be a feasible option until later. There's just nothing that can replace the ol' 2/1. Without Snappy and FoN where does that leave us? I believe a very forward leaning deck so Delver of Secrets, Young Pyromancer, or Monastery Swiftspear are solid aggressive creatures, as CurdBros mentioned before. Geist of Saint Traft is a fine finisher because of its hexproof ability, however we need to be careful with our instant and sorcery count if we're going to include Delver of Secrets. As a rule I generally hate going below 26 instants/sorcerys and I try to at least stay above 28+ just to try to more consistently flip the 1/1, but that's my personal preference when running a delver deck. With your landbase I like what you're rocking if you're unable to upgrade to the fetch plus shock mana base. Flooded Strand is the cheapest fetch in our colors atm and what you're working towards looks great, but I also want to note here that if you do manage to jump up to 6-8 fetchs then Logic Knot can become a consideration for your deck.
With that said I also wanted to say that I went 3-0 this weekend with Jeskai Stoneblade! I managed to add the three Teferi, Time Ravelers like you suggested StevomatUWR and it worked as well as we predicted they would with Spell Queller and Stoneforge Mystic. My games were against Eldrazi Tron, Grixis Wherza, and Mardu Stoneblade. I'm having so much fun with this deck. I'm glad to be on Jeskai right now!

That's awesome ManDolphin! I love to hear when people do great with jeskai. I think jeskai stoneblade is really underrated. I have seen a lot of mardu, UW stoneblad, etc, but for some reason people aren't picking up jeskai. I think it's great, but I am a biased party. I think it can really play whatever role works best for the matchup, especially in games 2 and 3.
I agree that when playing on a budget that more aggressive strategies tend to be easier to build and win with. Unfortunately our deck is really tough to play without some of the more expensive cards like snapcaster mage.
Hello all, yeah iv been working on it allot trying to put everything i like and not spend as much i did not order anything yet but , i think im gonna pay a little bit more for lands, but i gues its a good investment so i was thinking something like
1 Fiery Islet
1 Sunbaked Canyon
4 Flooded Strand
2 Steam Vents
1 Sacred Foundry
2 Hallowed Fountain
2 Spirebluff Canal
1 Shivan Reef
2 Island
1 Plain
1 Mountain
1 Glacial Fortress
1 Sulfur Falls
And then when i'm able to buy maybe 2x Arid Mesa and replace glacial and sulfur or maybe shivan reef.
And i might start with 4x Young pyro and then go for snapcaster mage and decrease the number of young pyro or something like that and then couple of force of negation and then should be set to upgrade little by little.
It is so hard to combine everything i love and can affoard but over time i think i can get there i just hope that snappy and force dont go up in price!
Again thx everyone i appriciate all the advice, and im constantly looking here to see lists and make mine as best as i can!
Long time no see, or something like that. I just wanted to give my 2 cents to your situation Cholenberg.
And maybe I will be able to let you guys know on what I am working on right now later, after not having time for magic for quite some time now, sadly.
I made the experience, that a prowess heavy deck with Pyromancer Ascension, thought scour and as a top end Bedlam Reveler and Crackling Drake is extremely viable. Now even more so than before, as graveyard hate is not really an issue right now.
Sooner or later snapcaster mage will have to end up in the deck but with and aggressive route that has a decent late game in reveler and drake can be suprisingly powerful. You are restricting yourself to playing mostly 4 offs, but thats fine, with, lets say 27 instants and sorceries you have 3 flex spots, which is sufficient with all the cantripping that you are going to do. The play sets are the usual culprits with bolt, helix, opt, path, thought scour and probably serum visions. Say you are playing 19 lands, that leaves you with 14 pay offs/threats. 4 Delver, 4 Switfspear, 2 ascension 2 drakes and 2 revelers.
You can substitute either the drakes or the revelers for pyros, but you dont need pyros necessarily (I just dont like the card).
My list featured 3 snapcaster mages instead of the swiftspears if i remember correctly, so I cant tell you how good the deck really performs as snappy is a huge upgrade for the deck, but I still believe that this is a solid starting point.
I hope that this was off some help to you.
Yeah that deck is going to be either very close to broken or absolutely broken. I feel a ban hammer in the future for this possibly. We will see. I bet it's a ton of fun to play though!
You can also include there Mishra's Bauble, and draw all the deck until you find the moxes, then generate infinite mana, and, for example, Banefire for one million.
Was thinking on some "perfect hands", and came with:

Really cool deck! I have a feeling this deck will be heavily played in the first couple of weeks before it is banned. FON helps A TON, but it won't be enough since most decks don't run FON
Had a good run with Saheeli. 3-1-1, losing in the opener to Dredge (1-2), drawing in the third match vs Gx Tron due to time issues (I would have probably won), then winning against Eldrazi Tron (2-0), Temur Scapeshift (2-1), Jund (2-0).
I seem to have lost my Tarns ssomewhere. Until I find them again, I'll just strive with Deltas (not planning on spending money to buy cards that I should already possess).
Seasoned Pyromancers was a beast at digging, and it has been by far the best target for either parts of the combo. Saheeli is quite good by itself, providig scry every turn and duplicating Snaps or Mancers, I've got a lot of value from them. You can pitch useless copies to Force anyway. The latter has probably been the best addiction we could hope for in this deck. I played my dose of Jeskai Saheeli in the past, but being a Tap-Out Tempo-Control deck that now HAS access to free counterspells is huge.
I'd love to make space in the sideboard for a Timely (fifth Burn hate piece) or an Ashiok (fourth hate card against Dredge, but also usable vs BigMana).
I have found a way to combo in 2 turn, but you need a perfect hand and the luck of drawing a land.
Here is the hand:
2 Mishra's Bauble
2 Mox Opal
1 Jeskai Ascendancy
1 Emry, Lurker of the Loch
1 Island
First turn play both Mishra's, one Mox, the island, and the Emry. In your turn or in opponents turn, sacrifice one mishra to increase the possibilities of drawing one land. We have now 2 cards in hand.
Second turn, with mishra's and draw card phase, we have four cards in hand (1 mox, 1 jeskai, and we need at least one land that's not an island). Play the second mox, metalcraft triggers, add one mana except blue and sacrifice the tapped mox, play the land and the jeskai. We have now, one card in hand. From now on, we can start bringing back the moxes for infinite mana and drawing/discarding until we find the Banefire for finishing the opponent. GG.
But as I said, this is the perfect and, and I doubt this will happen often haha.

2 Archmage's Charm
4 Force of Negation
2 Cryptic Command
FoN is really expensive but i guess i will work on getting a couple versions of those.
And now for my biggest problem lands. I know its really hard to play three color in modern on a budget i guess its really hard to play anything on a budget in modern but with help of CurdBros we figured out something like:
1 Adarkar Wastes
1 Clifftop Retreat
1 Glacial Fortress
1 Hallowed Fountain
2 Island
1 Mountain
2 Plains
1 Sacred Foundry
1 Seachrome Coast
2 Shivan Reef
4 Spirebluff Canal
1 Steam Vents
1Sulfur Falls
And somewhere i see my self going is something like this
2 Celestial Colonnade
1 Fiery Islet
4 Flooded Strand
1 Hallowed Fountain
2 Island
1 Plains
1 Sacred Foundry
1 Seachrome Coast
2 Shivan Reef
2 Spirebluff Canal
2 Steam Vents
1 Sunbaked Canyon
I dont know this just me trying to replace some lands maybe go one Arid mesa or putting some Prismatic Vista and going for more basic since Scalding Tarn is so expensive im not quite sure, building land base is so hard
And last but not least sideboard:
2 Tormod's Crypt
2 Abrade
3 Dovin's Veto
2 Lightning Helix
1 Rest in Peace
1 Timely Reinforcements
1 Celestial Purge
1 Ashiok, Dream Render
Maybe
1 Chandra, Pyromaster
1 Elspeth, Knight-Errant
1 Wear // Tear
2 Disdainful Stroke
1 Anger of the Gods
So that about sums it up, im really interested in what all of you guys think, i know budget probably is not really popular subject here but gotta start somewhere i guess, i would appreciate any suggestions on what to bring in and out whats good and what is not, and cant wait to get some feedback as im eager to start buying some cards and start playing!
Thank you.
Btw, there was another vid of the Saheeli Cat deck today and even though I don't want to flood this thread with the combo deck I do want to post
Corey Baumeister's video here because he's having sooo much fun with the deck!
Just look at him. So much joy
Tough to evaluate vs echoing truth. but theres no denying that it has alot of utility as once the fairie dies you can snap back the petty theft. So in our deck this card has tremendous value. I may put one in the sideboard in place of my extra cryptic command or echoing truth.
RUAffinityUR
GMono Green StompyG
CEldrazi TronC
URWJeskai GeistWRU
WRBoros BurnRW
BRWMardu PyromancerWRB
A new way to have a lot of mana.
Yeah that deck is going to be either very close to broken or absolutely broken. I feel a ban hammer in the future for this possibly. We will see. I bet it's a ton of fun to play though!
Was thinking on some "perfect hands", and came with:
2x Mishra's Bauble
1x Emry, Lurker of the Loch
1x Jeskai Ascendancy
1x Mox Opal
1x Island
1x Plains
Next turn you are comboed. If you let the opponent start first.
Quick draft:
4x Mox Opal
4x Emry, Lurker of the Loch
4x Jeskai Ascendancy
4x Banefire
4x Laboratory Maniac
4x Manamorphose
4x Serum Visions
4x Opt
4x Lightning Bolt
Really cool deck! I have a feeling this deck will be heavily played in the first couple of weeks before it is banned. FON helps A TON, but it won't be enough since most decks don't run FON
I seem to have lost my Tarns ssomewhere. Until I find them again, I'll just strive with Deltas (not planning on spending money to buy cards that I should already possess).
1x Fiery Islet
4x Polluted Delta
4x Flooded Strand
1x Clifftop Retreat
3x Spirebluff Canal
3x Steam Vents
2x Hallowed Fountain
2x Island
2x Plains
Creatures (11)
4x Felidar Guardian
4x Seasoned Pyromancer
3x Snapcaster Mage
4x Saheeli Rai
3x Teferi, Time Raveler
Removals (9)
4x Lightning Bolt
4x Path to Exile
1x Lightning Helix
Cantrips&Permission (11)
4x Opt
4x Force of Negation
3x Remand
3x Rest in Peace
2x Disdainful Stroke
3x Ceremonious Rejection
2x Engineered Explosives
2x Lightning Helix
1x Spell Snare
2x Celestial Purge
