Has anyone messed around with Ideas Unbound? It does crazy things in this shell, although I've found that its generally better with more phyrexian spells (mutagenic growth) and 1 drop (spike, bump, bolt). Turn 3 Unbound with Mutagenics will generally present lethal.

My guess is drawing into two- and three-drops with it is really bad. Like, another Ideas Unbound, a Pyromancer, or a Day's Undoing. I think it might work in a completely overhauled shell. The consistency of 4 Undoing and 4 Ideas makes it more feasible to play cards that otherwise do too little, like Gut Shot.
the card itself really isn't worth the card board its printed on...does it serve a purpose? Sure its a blue 1 drop that might not be a 1/1. I would not put it in a list and expect to win a PTQ or GP though.

You are absolutely right, I had to tune down the 2 drops to really make it work. And like I mentioned, phyrexian mana spells are very good here. I stopped short of gutshot but I'm considering it now. gutshot with swifty and stormchaser out is effectively a lightning bolt for 2 life. it can also take out a chump blocker that's in the way.

We want Unbound to pretty much end the game when we cast it IMO, so maxing out on Mutagenic is pretty important. Also lets all of our threats survive Bolt.

You'd probably want to add in 4 Mishra's Bauble I would have thought. Free to cast for prowess boost, and draws you a card after the discard.
If you could squeeze green into the mana-base then become immense would be pretty good I imagine.
This idea has some strange tension though, in that you pretty much want to finish the game as quick as possible, which means that you don't want the game to have gone of for too long before you cast Ideas Unbound, meaning that unless you draw into the phyrexian spells of which there are only 8, you probably aren't going to have enough mana to cast much of what you draw.

Yep, that's the weird part. Modern's linear decks pretty much want to end the game by turn four, but the nature of Undoing and Unbound means that we won't close things out until turn 5 or 6. That means we have to play interaction to get us to that "late-game," so I've opted for a set of Remand in addition to Bolts and Snags. But Shoals might be better still.

Reckon the Day's Undoing plan is better. With Unbound in current iteration you can really only drawn into less than a third of your deck that actually helps you close it out (disregarding prowess), at which point you'd probably be better off with just having a useful card. Undoing is a very different proposition, allowing for a full reload.
On a tangent: can't help but think about Asylum Visitor in conjunction with Ideas Unbound...

It was only ever okay, and that was when Grixis Control was Modern's deck-of-the-month. The format is way more aggressive now and casting Day's Undoing equates to suicide against a large portion of the field.
