I am also looking for a plan b in my sideboard and tested some quicksilver amulet. In some games they were great, in some they weren't. My next try will be to inlcude a playset of hollow ones (playing looting and streetwraith anyway...) to have a second way to win.
The addition of Hollow One wins games by itself. I've hit turn 1 hollow one a huge majority of the time i have it in my opening hand and it puts your opponent on a great clock. tHey worry more about the beater than you setting up Living end. I've even held off from LE in case of board wipes or path, but ended up snatching the win on Hollow one's back anyway. I think it's the best plan b(if you will) for this particular version of LE.
Wait, how do you play Turn 1 Hollow One "a huge majority of the time" you have Hollow One in your opening hand? Don't you need some combination of Faithless Looting, Street Wraith, Simian Spirit Guide, cyclers (preferably Desert Cerodon), a land, and either 3 discards or 2 discards and an extra mana? Even in Mono-Red Living End and its higher cycler/discard density (and the 4 SSGs in my build of that), I still get Turn 1 Hollow One closer to half the time I have it in my opening hand.

I used both gemstone caverns and SSG in my testing. I cut SSG for a while, but they made it back into my list. Most turn 1 mainphases i have access to at least 2 mana, making a looting + cerodon/curator pave the way for a Hollow One. Even without 2 mana on first turn, a looting+Wraith gives you a free hollow one.
Being able to cast a hollow one on turn one around 50%-66% of the time is great(huge) for this deck. I feel that if you try to increase that due to dedicated cards just for hollow one, you may as well be playing hollow one lists and not LE.
I went 3-1 at a local tournament with this build earlier tonight:
2-0 vs Enduring ideal - MVP Cryptic Command
0-2 vs Cheerios - brutal match up, not really sure what the game plan can be here
2-0 vs Mono W Martyr - Midrange creature decks are generally a meal for us
2-0 vs Mono W Taxes - Dessert. Although, Thalia can be a pain
The build felt great, so stream lined. I didn't come up against any Pheonix, Dredge, Shadow or Burn; interested to see how chalice fairs out of the board vs more T1 strategies.
Bonus rounds: Also played a few casual matches against my friend who was on UW Control. This kind of Ux control match up seems excellent for us as we are able to out draw and out control them. If some powerful blue cards are printed in Modern Horizons and the meta starts to shift in a more controlling direction that would likely be good for UR ElectroEnd.
TLDR:
-Midrange creature match up is great
-Cheerios is tough
-More testing vs Tier 1 decks needed
-Ux Control can be out controlled by this counter heavy build

How do you side versus BG Rock. I'm having trouble
Hello friends,
Since the Electrodominance came along, I was once again thrilled to play with the deck I love so much.
I started with Gabriel Nassif's build [LIST LINK] in the local championship and I was 2-2, I did not like the list, and I started to mine, until I found the list of Hayseed [LIST LINK], which caught my attention, and with it I played 3x leagues in MOL (friendly) and ended up doing respectively:
5-0
5-0
2-3
After that I felt lack of removal in area like: (Anger of the Gods or Ratchet Bomb), and I ended up getting the list below:
With this list in the last 2 local championships I did respectively:
2-0 MonoR Burn: G1 was always with great emotions, I got in t2 to take his creatures and beating with a creature 6/4 and canceling some magic, G2 solved a 1 Chalice of the Void and 1 Dragon's Claw and the game was quiet. 2-1 MonoG Tron: G1 was quiet, I returned in T3 beating 16, gave 2x attacks and finished. G2 he managed to win me because I could not generate many threats (he did 2x Relic of Progenitus and with time was difficult to deal with TRON, in G3 we both came with GOD HAND, he broke into T3 and did Karn, but in T1 and T2 I had already done 2x 6/4 creatures and 1x 4/4 creature, when he tried to exile my land with Karn I cycled another 4/4 creature and solved the Living End on the right turn 20. 1-1 U/W Control: We wrestled because I ended up playing the G1 wrong and he ended up winning the match, in G2 I won after solving a Blood Moon, G3 did not manage to win in time because he ended up doing a Rest In Peace in t4 where I tried back with Living End in response and he did a Surgical Extraction and exiled 2x Creatures from the grave. 1-1 BG Rock: We had a lot of draws too, opponent played very slow, and made all possible threats, I did not win because I played wrong again and I was punished with it.
Already last Tuesday I made the result 3-1, being: 2-0 BG Rock: The matches were well tense, as he in all solved 3x Ooze, however, I managed to get around and resolved with Electrodominance for 8 2x. 2-0 MonoG Tron: It was pretty easy, as he did a forest on t1, on t2 I already came back with a 6/4 threat that hit 3x, and I ended up with Eletrodimance damage. 2-0 Jeskai Control: Quiet match, G1 removed the counter he had with Vendillion, and came back with many threats, in G2 he zicou in 2x terrain, and after reslvering a Living End he conceded. 0-2 Grixis Shadow: G1 It was very complicated, it came very strong and managed to finish me with Death Shadow, canceling my Eletrodominance that would reslver the game. G2 It was more "gentle" however, he managed to remove the Living End from my hand, download a Death Shadow and a Gurmag, I made a chalice for 1 soon after, I bought and cycled full (counting that it was already clocked) and found 3 Electrodominance and no Living End, I ended up losing.
I'm going to GP SP (BR), so far I'm between playing Dredge or UR Phoenix, I still did not have the guts to board the As Foretold kkkk
In short, the deck got much stronger, I feel that 4 chalice would be interesting, I'll modify my side to add 2 ratchet bombs and report back to you as I left.

Unfortunately not, they have main deck and/or SB Repeal, Hurkyl's Recall and Echoing Truth. They bounce end of turn, then untap and go off for the win. Same way the generally get around Leyline of Sanctity. Also, Chalice on 0 shuts a good portion of our deck off as well.
Hey this is my first post in this thread but curious to see if anyone has any feedback on a list I made. Looking to build it soon as a backup deck or even main depending on my meta which shifts all the time.
Living End:
Maindeck (60)
4 Flameblade Adept
4 Curator of Mysteries
4 Hollow One
4 Desert Cerodon
4 Striped Riverwinder
2 Ancestral Vision
4 Living End
4 Faithless Looting
4 Electrodominance
4 Remand
3 As Foretold
2 Flooded Strand
3 Island
1 Mountain
4 Scalding Tarn
4 Spirebluff Canal
2 Steam Vents
2 Sulfur Falls
1 Tolaria West
Sideboard (15)
3 Faerie Macabre
1 Magus of the Moon
2 Ingot Chewer
1 Ceremonious Rejection
2 Dispel
2 Lightning Axe
2 Echoing Truth
2 Dragon's Claw
What are the thoughts on playing 1 mana counterspells in the SB to deal with problematic cards, especially RIP.
Apart from Swan Song there is also Spell Pierce and possibly even Stubborn Denial. These cards obviously don't work with Chalice on 1, but the MUs with RIP like UW and Spirits you can argue to board out Chalice anyway.
I think Stubborn Denial is kind of interesting. Early on it's a Force Spike, which is enough for a turn 2 RIP and once you have a creature on the board it simply is a 1 mana Negate.
The problem with this is, that it doesn't allow you to deal with black Leylines.
I think it is not feasible to use 1 mana counter, because since the calice de lado is already used, it would be a lock in itself!
Unless you replace the chalice with Swan Song

I do not think it's playable, in this deck you do not take advantage except with AV but in the late
In decks that fill the cemetery of instants from the first turn is playable.
You might be right. It might be better in the mono red version, but I like the idea of casting AV and more importantly FL for free. Even a LE that has already been used or countered can be reused.

I have the traditional Living End deck and have been thinking about upgrading to the - imho - (almost) strictly better Izzet version for a while.
The main problem I see with some of those lists: Playing tons of reactive cards in game 1 feels really greedy and can easily "fizzle" (more like: delay) the combo early. Running 3+ Cryptic Commands feels especially greedy to me because - as great as that card is - it can sometimes be waaay to slow, I don't even run 4 in my Jeskai Control deck.
I really love your idea, Alz: Let's stick to the main upside this version has over the traditional build: We can play as many cheap answers (mostly out of the sideboard) as we want ! Swan Song should be an easy 3/4-of, as should Tormod's Crypt !
The Hollow One plan is game 1 only to buy time and meant to be a tread against control and hate in game 2/3
The time-buy job best card is Chalice of the Void, it`s so important for that deck to play chalice.
The best play i forced with this card, was to play it on zero against R/B ElectroEnd and to beat him down with hard cast and all time of the world.
But on the seriouse side is one big card, beside discard: SURGICAL EXTRACTION. It`s feel like: Every deck playing that card....
In my laboraty section of the deck i try Commandeer, and for true, for me looks like: that`s wich the deck want against control/g-tron and hate. It can handle a Leyline , but also can take a Planeswalker or somthing like o-stone...
The deck have a lot of ways to play some cheating stuff... It a big fun for me!
I try the reactive build of the deck, but it`s feels like the wrong way for me to play that combo.
But on the other side i lose some important points again UW-Miracle and Scapeshift without the reactive main part.
Time will show...
This should be able to cast Living End from the graveyard. Could this mean we run Faithless Looting or 3-4 Izzet Charms instead of Remand now?
How good is that card? On MKM, it's already a 10 EUR preorder. Could this be a 2 of? Maybe in the SB? We don't have many 1 cmc spells right now, should we really water down our deck with let's say Opt to get more value out of this? Being able to cast a AV in the graveyard a second time is nice, but how often will that come up?
I personally think this card is a SB card for control matchups and doesn't have a place in the MB, but I could very well be wrong here.
If Counterspell gets reprinted into Modern... should we go the Counterspell route or do we pack Spell Pierce instead? Are we the aggro or the control in a Counterspell-infested meta? I mean, sure, it depends on the matchup, but will the meta slow down enough with Counterspell to justify Counterspell in our own deck?

This list looks extremely streamlined. No Izzet Charm, no Chalice mainboard, no Crypt mainboard. Faerie and Wraith main are like a blast from the past. I'm not sure why he decided to play 21 lands with the full 15 cyclers, but it seems to have worked out.
The sideboard... wow. Day 2 in GP Calgary had 11.5% Burn, 9% Tron and 8% GDS, so his sideboard was on point. Kinda. I have no clue how is plan against the 16% UR Phoenix was.
I love the idea of Finale of Promise, I´d go the full route with Electrodominance and Finale of Promise, replacing As Foretold. It makes you even more vulnerable to graveyard hate, but it enables even more consistent turn 2 Living Ends. Being red also means being able to skimp on lands more, and Simian Spirit Guide works even better. Maybe a Black/Red version works best (enabling Mausoleum Secrets and discard).
The thing with blue is that izzet charm is very very good in this deck (or at least it was for me)... You cast your combo, they crack relic in response, you let the relic kill your gy and loot 2 big creatures with izzet charm before living end resolves... the other abilities of this card are also very good and especially very flexible. If there was no izzet charm I would agree on the b/r version.
