Hey, this is what I brewed up for a more aggro UR Prowess-ish build. I think the mana base could use a bit of work (1 island and 1 mountain for fetches? is the breeding pool/mutagenic worth it? Worth noting that we also get sideboard ancient grudge for this). With that said, I like the heavy cantrips to really abuse the prowess on our creatures. Swiftspear just seems too good not to include - we want to start chipping in as soon as possible. Definitely looking for feedback!

I would go all on on storm chaser and soulscar as priority of swiftspears ( and I personally would run lava runner over swift spear) I think it might also be worth dropping 2 snap casters as they are ok but they are basically three drops and your only running 17 lands 2 feels like the right number to me (giving you 5 three drops)
I would also go all in on wizard lighting and I would definitely play remands over mana leak. Lastly I would drop some of the counter spells for a more agressive package and go all in on mutagenic growths. (But I wouldn't bother splashing green as growths main advantage is that its a mana free cast.) I think the prowess version of wizards needs to be more burn than controls (a little like kiln fiend/titi decks). Maybe with a copy or to of slip through space or crash through to help deal with souls tokens
Maybe even adding 2 copy's of bedlem revelers for grindy game card draw and push/bolt proof threat
Great minds think alike. Your changes could have come straight from my brain.
The thing about this build is that you need to be way more aggressive and pump your prowess wizards with as many spells as possible for the most value. Most of the time counters are used on your opponents turn so the pump is less rewarding.
Turning your 4 stormchasers into double prowess beaters is fantastic, burn spells already dome the poor soul that you get to destroy for 2-3 on top of the plusses it gives your creatures.
Have you thought about temur battle rage or slip through space for card draw and evasion?
Awesome lists Wiblo and Snow Sisters. Snow Sisters is a bit more up my alley so I have more thoughts about it then Wiblo's list. I love how many options we have to build really unique decks that can still be very competitive.
Soul Sisters-
I agree with some of the things others have said, but I actually like monastery swiftspear. I know it's not a wizard, but it is simply the best one drop prowess threat. I tested the new lavarunner wizard and it was very disappointing. It only comes in as a 2/2 later in the game when you really don't need it to be a 2/2. When you play it on turn one it's just a 1 power creature with future upside. Whereas swiftspear can often attack for 3+ damage. I would cut one swiftspear and add one soul-scar mage and run a 3/3 split for the wizard tribal.
I totally agree with amicdeep on Bedlam Reveler. I have been playing reveler in my jeskai prowess list since it was spoiled and it has never come out of the deck. Again, it's not a wizard, but it's the best late game option for a deck that has a low land count and a high instant/sorcery count. You could even play 2 copies in your board for grindy matchups if you don't want one or two in the main deck. I also agree with amicdeep that Remand is amazing in these style of decks. I would definitely switch the leaks to remands especially since we have Wizard's Retort now. Lastly, I Thorshammer also read my mind. I LOVE Slip Through Space. It's another card I run in my jeskai list. It's very good with swiftspear and reveler (and also geist in my jeskai list, but he doesn't fit here). They are very good when the board gets a little jammed up. Any cantrips we can play are helpful. You may want them over sleight of hand.
Your thoughts on the deck almost mirror what I have been trying. With that said, I obviously really like your list.
Wiblo- I typically run a very spell heavy list so this list is tough for me to evaluate very well. Does anyone have an experience with this style of deck?

What's up guys?! New to the forum here and am really excited for Dominaria; Adeliz, the Cinder Wind really caught my eye as one of the cards to try to build around for a Wizard Tribal deck in Modern and thankfully it looks like I wasn't the only one with that idea! Of course, some of the decklists posted so far are sadly out of my budget range, you know, with all the Snapcaster Mages and Scalding Tarns. In light of such, I've tried to put together a more budget friendly list.
As it should be very clear, some of these proportions seem really weird. Sometimes it's because of the cards already in my inventory; sometimes it's because I don't really know how to build a deck
Clearly, the big thing missing here is Snapcaster Mage, - which I am hoping to rectify soon -, and a couple of copies would mostly likely replace the Barals and the Spellweavers. The sideboard here is obviously very clunky, and it should be clear that I'm not very adept at building decks, but I tried my best. Again, some cards are in there because I already have them and some aren't because of budget constraints (don't tell me I'm not the only one who doesn't have Snapcasters...).
All feedback and suggestions would be much appreciated! Thank you guys so much! Also, Dominaria is shaping up to be a really awesome set, isn't it?
Hey, thanks for the feedback guys! I do like having a breeding pool that is able to be fetched, for when you need to hardcast mutagenic. Sideboard ancient grudge is pretty big - it triggers prowess, and is great artifact hate. I don't like temur battle rage in this deck - I think the creatures are too small by their own to make it worth it. Manamorphose is a possibility, as is Bedlam reveler. I really like the card, especially with ten cantrips, and a bunch of burn.
Snapcaster is great in this deck, but I do agree that something needs to go. Here's what I'm thinking:
-1 Snapcaster Mage +1 Bedlam Reveler - I want to try this out. Bedlam is great, and with 27 instants/sorceries, it can be a 2 drop fairly fast. I don't think we want more than 1 in the mainboard. It can be clunky to draw early.
-1 Vapor Snag +1 Wizards Lightning - Vapor Snag is great, but so is Wizards lightning! It does more damage, and is basically 3 more bolts in this deck. I think I'm going to end up going for full 4, but a little worried they will get stranded in my hand.
-2 Mana Leak +1 Mutagenic Growth + 1 Remand - I'm worried about having two many twos/threes in our aggro prowess deck. Remand is great, yes. But we already have stormchaser, snapcaster, and adeliz - spell pierce and spell snare are better, I think, but I want to try it out. Playing 3 mutagenics because they are great, free spells, pumps several wizards, but worried about having awkward draws with these. Probably should be playing four, but struggling with what to cut. Another snapcaster? That seems weird, as Snapcsater is a wizard, and obviously a great card. But it's a bit slow for this deck. We want to kill out opponent as fast as possible, and snapcaster isn't really going to do that. It has no evasion, and is effectively a three drop. However, with wizards lightning, we have access to 7 bolts, making bolt snap bolt very potent.
-1 Monastery Swiftspear +1 Soulscar mage - Recommended change I agree with. Soulscar mage is a wizard with prowess, but swiftspear is in my opinion just too good for this deck.
Slip through Space is interesting, will consider it. Perhaps over sleight of hand, or in addition do it?
Random sideboard thoughts
Ancient Grudge
Bedlam Reveler (1 more - maybe move maindeck to sideboard, but want to try it out)
Grim lavamancer (I think this card is too slow for the mainboard, but is great grindy sideboard material.)
Izzet Staticaster (It's' a wizard! Good card, but might be too slow for our deck.)
Blood Moon for sure - this card is great. Probably 2, maybe 3.
Young Pyromancer? Not sure.
In any case, there's my ramblings. Thanks for the feedback guys! Excited to try this out.
You guys are all forgetting about Champion of Wits and most importantly Sage of Fables. Those cards, with instants/sorceries and Naban, Dean of Iteration/Adeliz, the Cinder Wind are what will give you the card advantage to be a different type of deck. I could be wrong, and everyone can quote me on release if I am, but I don't think we're trying to be Merfolk with Prowess instead of lords.
Are you sure that Naban and Sage of Fables would give two counters to each creature? I'm no expert at rules, but I'm in no way certain that that's how it works.
I believe it's a replacement effect/static ability and doesn't. My point wasn't a double trigger with Naban, it's the +1 counter and Champion of Wits. Wizards just provides insane card advantage synergy + synergy with spells which other tribals don't have. I'm just pointing out that I think we want to take advantage of that. Aggro decks in Modern currently lack solid tempo play and card advantage (they basically play out till eventually they get into topdeck mode), but they're way better at Aggro than Wizards. There's no reason we should be a worse aggro deck, and we should probably look at all angles and see what we can do that other decks aren't already doing (and probably doing better.)

I like the Merfolk idea with Deeproot Waters. Cast a merfolk and get 2 1/1 hexproof guys seems pretty good, as well as having the double trigger from the Merfolk itself. Only problem I see is that it's pretty slow. And you need to give up Vial, which I think is a bad move.
Am I the only one who is remembering wee dragonauts?
Lol, I certainly didn't remember it. Somewhere in the back of my mind, I thought that thing was a dragon or something -- definitely not a wizard. Thanks for bringing it up! Definitely would seem to have potential as a worse but Wizard Kiln Fiend. My concern would be that why not just play Kiln Fiend? Kiln Fiend gets +3/+0 which kind of counteracts not getting the +1/+1 from Adeliz. The only reason I could see it being played was if evasion was that important that it superseded getting it out a turn earlier with a slightly worse body. I guess it turns on Wizard's Retort and Bolt if that is at all relevant.
Kiln fiend only gets +3+0 with the wizharmonicon out, dragonauts get +3+1 with the wiz. Dragonauts seems legit....
I assume you meant Adeliz, the Cinder Wind right? -- not Wizharmonicon. And I get what you're saying, but is that one extra toughness (which does let it evade bolt which is a bit relevant, but so does Kiln Fiend with a Mutagenic Growth) worth one full turn of mana, clashing on the curve with Cinder who makes it even playable? It's definitely a worthy consideration; I'm just not sure it does enough to justify all that.
I Love me some Wee Dragonauts. I really like how he fits in my wizards deck too. It's tough to include too many 3 drops, but it's a super fun card. It's in my cube and it reminds me of some of my first Izzet decks.
Does Wizaharmonicon work with Deeproot waters? To my understanding, Naban works with ETB effects, not casting triggers. Waters triggers on the cast, creates the token, and then the merfolk enters the battlefield. I think this is how it works?
I was messing around and came up with this UW deck idea. Everything except Naban can be cast at instant speed, but that effect feels too powerful not to include. Vedalken Aethermage lets you play with a bit of a toolbox.
Do you think that Ghitu Lavarunner is better than Soul-Scar Mage ?
Prowess seems like a better ability than haste in a not ultra-aggro deck (and there is also the second ability which is more situational).
Ive been trying my hand at mono blue wizards and it has been pretty good. Ive played 5 games and have only lost 1 to burn.
Ive played vs GR ponza, GB frogtown, Eldrazi Tron, Merfolk and Burn
Burn killed me turn 4 both times... :/
I decided to go mono blue as you can find mostly what you want in blue. The pump provided by the izzet wizards just seems so meh to me as wizards are inherently so weak (alot of 2/1s and 1/3s) Its best in my opinion to play a tempo build instead of aggro one with wizards. This is probably the most tempo based deck ive ever played. Boomerang is so so good especially on the play, I board them all out for spreading seas against greedy mana or tron. The deck has performed decently well I still need to do some tweaking for sure but I thought id share my list.
Edit: The most useless card or underwhelming card so far is venser. I havent been able to cast him once as there have simply been better lines of play and tbh cryptic is just better most of the time.

Hey, thanks for the feedback guys! I do like having a breeding pool that is able to be fetched, for when you need to hardcast mutagenic.
