Now that we got Drown in the Loch I think that going Esper over UW is definetly the better option.
It won't replace Path in the maindeck as it is necessary to trigger library search so I'd probably run it in the SB.
Yeah, I'd say UB is better. I play 4 vision 3 opt to help with Scheming Symmetry for another forced search.
I'm also playing a creature verson with Wight, Jace's Phantasm and the 5/6 flier for 1U. With a conversion to full mill in sb so they bring all their crea hate (wasted draws).
It's fun.
But I'm still interested in UW.

I even think that dropping Fraying Sanity might be a decent option with Glimpse the Unthinkable added to the deck
(as a 4/2 split with Mind Sculpt or Breaking).
Against decks that don't search the library or pack a lot of countermagic sideboarding in Jace's Phantasm + Vantress Gargoyle could be the way to go by taking out Trapmaker's Snare and Archive Trap entirely.
Merfolk Secretkeeper is a solid upgrade to Tome Scour as well, milling 1-card less for getting a blocker.
Another option is to keep both and replace Thought Scour instead.
Here is my updated list:
4x Hedron Crab
4x Merfolk Secretkeeper
Artifact (4)
4x Mesmeric Orb
Instant (18)
4x Path to Exile
4x Visions of Beyond
4x Trapmaker's Snare
2x Mission Briefing
4x Archive Trap
Sorcery (9)
4x Tome Scour
4x Glimpse the Unthinkable
1x Breaking // Entering
4x Flooded Strand
4x Polluted Delta
2x Hallowed Fountain
1x Watery Grave
4x Field of Ruin
4x Island
1x Plains
1x Swamp
3x Surgical Extraction
1x Ravenous Trap
4x Dovin's Veto
1x Echoing Truth
2x Fragmentize
2x Settle the Wreckage
2x Drown in the Loch
