So in general Visions is considered the better setup card and SoH the better active draw. You are right about it finding a turn 1 Bloom slightly better. This makes them about even turn 1 since you are unlikely to see a Bloom and will instead be setting up lands/not lands as needed. Even if you do see a Bloom off of the scry 2, often will have the opportunity to wait until turn 5 to go off anyway, in game one at least.
But during combo you will be drawing a bunch of cards, so as long as you draw 1 card after casting the cantrip the setup of Visions is better than the choice offered by SoH.
I was running a 3/2 split before I switched over to Looting.
Thanks for great primer. Btw, can we run Greater Gargadon as our sac outlet? It allows to sac lands for faith's reward for extra mana. Possibly we can stack triggers and sac more than 10 permanents
I think someone already mentioned this, but in the grinding station/looting/vaults/roar of reclamation build I think that a package of Artificer's Intuition plus 1-2 Locket of Yesterdays could really put in some work.
Could even play electrodominance. (probably not though)
How are we feeling about our # of answers to thalia, damping sphere and the great white enchantments stony silence and rest in peace. im currently running 3 ways to deal with sphere and thalia, and 4 to deal with the enchantments. I haven't been able to test my humans match up, however i am slightly scared of the match up.

Because we win in one turn our answers can be more temporary than most decks that need to try and win through hate. Bounce effects like Echoing Truth, Æther Spellbomb, and the usually unnecessary Wipe Away. I run 4 in my board. They can also buy you time against aggro and creature combo.
An extra Pyrite Spellbomb can help to deal with many but not all of the hate bears.
I have been brewing KCI before Matt Nass came out with the now banned deck list. Now that KCI is banned I think we can put our collective brains together to create something that can still work.
1. Thopter foundry - sac outlet. This is a tier 2 deck with the sword of the meek. It is good but has no going infinite potential. If anyone has some insights on how to bring this deck up. I am considering Time Warp a slower alternative to no KCI. It draws a card and provides a land drop and can work into Time sieve recursion. Some ideas are Myr servitor, Thopter assembly, and planes walkers one of the Tezzeret, Tezzeret the schemer, as a way to create mana through additional turns starting at around turn 5-6 for it to get going. Dying early is the problem. Sword of the meek and scrap trawler have tremendous value!
2. Eggs - I'm not sure of a win con without KCI going into an Emrakul. Having scrap trawler around without KCI doesn't seem to improve the deck. Am I right to say there is still a problem here?
3. Arcbound Ravager - This guy seems like the best sac outlet thereby storming a bunch of mox opals, eggs, and scrap trawler 3-4 times each turn making many +1/+1 counter. The problem is the mana runs out and what to do with all the +1/+1 counters. What to do that is better than modular affinity? Any ideas on how to turn sacing many eggs with a arcbound ravager into a combo or slightly unfair deck?
4. Grinding station!! ?? Is this the best sac outlet grinding station? Is this the deck? It was once in my sideboard in a glint nest earlier KCI variant. Anyone have comments on how good Grinding station can get? My quick guess is that it needs - scrap trawler, mind stone, mox opal, maybe myr moonvessel, and eggs to get going and race the opponent in an aggro mill plan. Thoughts? Turn 4 - grind 5 times, Turn 5 grind 10 times? Am I right here?
turn 1 - darksteel, egg,
turn 2 - dark steel, mind stone, mox opal, ichor wellspring
turn 3 - scrap trawler, grinding station
so grind mox opal, then egg, return mox opal play, tap, grind mox opal, grind ichor wellspring, return egg, play egg, grind egg, return mox opal, grind mox opal. Total of 5 grinds on turn 3 for 15 card mill. With mindstone around for next turn.
Can you share a bit more about the deck. How does it work?
1. How many turns on avergae it take to grind?
2. What is a good opening hand. Of they destroy the grind station how bad is that?
3. How does the semblance anvil go. Is it when you have the scrap trawler out to play more - what ? What card do you Target? Ichor wellspring ? I can see it grinding 3-4 times by grinding the anvil at the end ?
4. Any other insights ?

Hey all. I made a discord for the Semblance Anvil combo deck version if anyone wants to join up on that and tweak some lists! https://discord.gg/A5KsYPU
Yesterday I milled a burn player, but I still don't understand the way to cicle the pyrite spellbomb kill. Isn't it easier to change the pyrite spellbomb for a blasting station?

the deck works by grinding yourself to get 2 myr retrievers, once that is accomplished you can preform an infinite grind because they cost nothing due to anvil. This version isnt as heavily reliant on scrap trawler but more so on the retrievers and sai. the only way i can see to do the pyrite loop would require trawler, mox, anvil, station, and 2 retrievers. The only time i would do this though as you already have a win is if they have an emrakul or automatic shuffle effect. It more fragile then actual kci but the power level is still fine.

My Decks that have been BANNED
DRS Jund | Kiki-Pod | Bloom Titan | Splinter Twin | KCI
After more testing with Piotr's list. i still feel the deck too fragile to interaction. i always win g1 (have played against jund, burn and mono U tron) but g2 and 3 they always stop whatever i try to do (only once i won with karn's token)
Does anyone have some sites that share the deck play?
In my mind I agree that the semblance anvil is much worse than preban kci because
1. Kci can respond after scrap tralwer is removed. Either cast another scrap tralwer. Or at a minimum sacrifice it for 2 mana.
2. Self milling to get 2 myr retrievers is low probability. It will require luck and amount to wasted turns.
3. Graveyard hate. Once they have a rest in peace type hate I don't think this new deck has an alternative win con. Old kci could still win without graveyard or side in 4 nature's claims. I don't think this new deck can react to a surgical extraction because it is solely based on 2 myr retrievers.

After a fair bit of play testing, I’ve refined my list and found something that I am for now comfortable with. The sideboard I’ll most likely be changing a bit every now and then tho.
Just on the topic of how many Whir of Inventions and Reshapes to have, I prefer to run the full 8 copies since they help set up Lotus Bloom both early game as well as mid combo. I don’t think I’ve had one of these tutors and wished it was something else tbh
P.S. This is my first attempt at trying the deck and card tags, I hope they work lol

I have actually used the transitional sideboard plan. G2 side out almost all the combo and went with Karn or thopter tokens. It makes the Grave hate useless and forces them to think if third game we would change again or not the gameplan.
I find your second point more problematic. And I can't think of another answer that isn't sorcery speed

I haven’t played this Anvil deck nor seen it played, but could Whir of Invention be a way to fetch out a Myr Retriever or any other card that is needed? It seems a bit mana intensive but is a way to gets it all done.

although the convoke is actually possible, 3 blue mana makes it very slow. You would be able to realistically cast it for 2 on turn 3, taping all your mana sources, and without KCI the deck is much more tight on mana than before

Hmm, those are all valid points, especially with the mana-base being colourless like Buried Ruins, Inventors fair ect. Whir would be pretty difficult to cast even with the Eggs to filter, and the payoff may not be worth it after all that work.
I’ve been given some card suggestions that I’ve had people come up with for Semblance Station Deck, but I’m not exactly an expert in this area. What would you guys think about:
These cards in conjunction with Sai, Master Thopterist, Myr Retriever and Grinding Station can create some infinite loops by themselves. Although going along these routes makes me wonder why we don’t play a Sly Sword Deck tbh.

Fair fair. A multi-combos deck I remembered recently is Sly Sword by MtgGoldfish, if u wish to get some inspiration. Played 5-0 in a league and didn’t even have Sai printed at the time.
Conjurer's Bauble on Faith's Reward or Open the Vaults to put back in library. Ghost Quarter and/or fetch lands or other tutor effects to shuffle library to get it off bottom. You eventually end up with your library with only Faith's Rewards and Open the Vaults. Then Loop Pyrite Spellbomb over and over.
Another combo I'm interested in, which I'm nost sure is even viable in Modern due to basically no mana positive mana rocks is Shimmer Myr + Aetherflux Reservoir. Its a classic EDH combo where you cast artifacts at instant speed. The reason you do this is not only able to combo off on opponent's turn, but you respond with Aetherflux triggers on the stack. The trigger checks total spells cast, not spells before the trigger, which means the life gain gets out of control and you can easily get 50 health easily. Thing is, like i said, it relies on mana positive rocks. So if we have discounted artifacts then maybe we can somehow do this, idk
But during combo you will be drawing a bunch of cards, so as long as you draw 1 card after casting the cantrip the setup of Visions is better than the choice offered by SoH.
