After the printing of Irencrag Feat I saw that it was viewed mostly as a way to power out an early Dragonstorm but I dont really like this glass-cannon strategy and would like to see if a more straighforward Big Red deck can use it to power out big threats early and take over the game.
The best thing you can do for 7-mana (on turn 3) as we all know is Karn Liberated so it is in the deck.
The other big haymaker I've chosen is Inferno Titan which is rather castable even without Irencrag and can end games quickly while also dealing with small creatures from aggro decks.
Other options can be:
# Chandra, Flamecaller - good for sweeping small creatures and rummaging away redundant rituals as well as clocking the opponent with elemental tokens.
# Chandra, Awakened Inferno - probably more of an anti-control SB card but is also a powerful option that can act as a sweeper as well.
# Wurmcoil Engine - the other good 6-drop creature that can swing the life race in your favor and trades well with removal spells.
# Deus of Calamity - this is probably rather janky and a pet card of mine but getting this early to try and destroy lands (or force chump-blocks and damage) seems fun.
# Ugin, the Spirit Dragon - not nearly as good here as in Tron/E.Tron (and over 7-mana) but still a very powerful ramp target you can potentially power out on turn 4 (with a good draw).
The deck is mostly a strighforward ramp deck with minimal interaction (Lightning Bolt) and Blood Moon for some lockdown potential. Chandra, Torch of Defiance is here as a catach-all card that: ramps, removes threats and provides card advantage and a slow win-con.
I've also included Thrill of Possibility for some card draw and getting rid of dead cards in hand to solve some of the consistency issues of the deck.
Not sure if this is going to be enough but I'm not sure what else can make the deck more consistent (Light Up the Stage/Commune with Lava maybe ?) .
It is probably possible to go more towards the prison route with this deck with the Karn, The Great Creator package and Chalice of the Void instead of Bolt but then you're probably just plaing a worse "Pyro Prison" deck at this stage so I'm not sure about that.
Having all the SB bullets to tutor with Karn is really good as well as the Lattice lock so this might be a more competitive option to be honest.
With so many rituals I'm not really sure what is the correct land count (or the addition of some utility lands)
so some advice on that would be welcome as any other input about the deck.
I think it looks great, but if some of your payoffs are creatures then you might like geosurge. It's just an irencrag feat for creatures and artifacts. Other than that, I would love to play the deck.
I feel like a big finisher that insta wins the game upon resolution like dragonstorm is what could put this deck on that sort of "modern power level" that most decks need to meet the competitive standard of today.
