Been out of the game for 2 or 3 years and want to get back in, but I’m not sure how good this deck will be and was looking for some feedback
[CREATURES]
4 Boros Elite
4 Champion of the Parish
4 Charming Prince
4 Dauntless Bodyguard
4 Thalia's Lieutenant
[SORCERIES]
4 Doomskar
4 Return to the Ranks
[ENCHANTMENTS]
4 Always Watching
4 Oblivion Ring
4 Rally the Ranks
[LANDS]
20 Plains
The primary idea is getting the Champions out and buffed up to start out, then using the other one-drops, anthems, and Lieutenant buffs to hit hard and fast. In ideal conditions, I can win on turn 4. If that doesn’t happen, I’m built to last; Always Watching’s vigilance lets me keep up the offensive while still being able to block. Oblivion Ring is for taking out big threats and Doomskar is for when things are too much to handle. Return to the Ranks is for keeping momentum after Doomskar or for when I just take heavy losses. Charming Prince is there to exile another copy of itself to make a constant cycle of Princes entering and leaving the battlefield, so as to buff my Champions and Lieutenants.
I’m looking for any recommendations on what needs to be done here. I’d like to keep low to the ground, but I’m fine with going a little bigger and doing away with Return to the Ranks if it means I could be faster or more consistently get damage. Not too in love with Charming Prince or Dauntless Bodyguard either, one’s there to buff some creatures and one is there to just be a one-drop. Any recommendations would be appreciated.
you want nearer to 30 creatures than 20 . other humans to consider are soldier of the pantheon, kytheon, thalia guardian,
tomik, luminarch aspirant, benalish marshal, thalia cathar. you dont want to doomskar your army away, use path to exile instead
.
Path isn't always the best option. This format a slightly better option is On Thin Ice. Reason being you don't want to give an extra land to the Red/Red and Blue Prowess decks. And being sorcery removal isn't really that big a deal when you consider that this deck should always be the aggro deck. They have to leave guys back to block. Only exception to when this deck isn't the aggro really is against the Prowess decks... Then we go back to do we really want to give them extra lands? Nopes. So right now it is the better removal spell.
I challenge yall to open your mind and stop going with the popular option just because it has been correct for so long. The format can shift where the lesser card is actually the better card. Like Condemn when Death's Shadow and Scourge is the top deck to beat.
Besides going up to 30ish creatures I'd put in 2 more lands. Probably Mutavault but the castle that makes a 1/1 guy can also be very good. Usher of the Fallen while not a human does make humans. And it is putting a challenge up for best white 1 drop in the history of the game. So it should at least be considered.
