Haha I'm totally aware the doom is not even discussable, just a peculiar card.
So far there's sadly no love for Skred in the set, I'm hoping for some cheap removal with cycling before the keyword is dismissed.
We still have Hazoret's Last __________ to come, and if it's at all good we still have Koth, Chandra, and Mind Stone to generate mana the following turn, so I'm optimistic we will be able to cast it, just not sure it will work.
My hope is that it's some sort of threaten effect combined with an end of turn fling
Ideally I would like to steal a creature be able to swing with it and have a delayed trigger of at the beginning of the end step sacrifice this creature and deal damage to target creature or player. But I'm not sure WOTC is big on delayed triggers and it would be a lot of potential damage (stealing a gurmag angler, swinging in for 5 and then flinging for 5..... it would be hard to cost appropriately).
Instant speed Threatens are great too.
I suppose they could do an undercosted wheel of fortune but that sounds absolutely horrible. I guess we will see soon enough.
I would disagree, I can see so mamy games lost off of hitting just lands and removal and then dying the next turn. Even if you do hit well with it the random element makes me hesitate.
The card is incredibly random, reminds me of Combustible Gearhulk's ability to a certain extent.
I don't think it is playable outside of EDH though (you can't even set up combos with as it shuffles while resolving).
It's not significantly more random than any draw spell in our deck, and you'd only play it if behind.
If you have six mana and your draw this instead of the Stormbreath you need to race or the Anger you need for a boardwipe -- or really any answer in the deck -- it reads "you get 4 more chances to draw and play what you need." Sure, getting two mountains, a Mindstone, and the wrong answer will suck, especially if you Tkme Walk yourself, but that doesn't matter if you were going to die anyway.
There's no way you're at all likely to get 20 mana worth of stuff for the 12 mana (maybe 10 mana if you cast it for 2 mind stones) and even then I'd say it's going to be pretty hard to even get 10 mana worth of stuff. Between lands (23), 1 mana spells (4 Skred, 4 Bolts and 4 Relics) the math says we're not going to be getting enough value from this spell. Skred might not have a target and also some of our larger payoff cards like Koth and Pia & Kiran are legends and legend ruling themselves would also be pretty bad.
The legend rule thing is not a problem at all in our deck. If you're casting this with a Koth or Chandra on the board you use them to help pay for it to offset the downside -- you get another use of loyalty if you draw a new one. With P&K it just nets you two extra tokens.
Again, it's a card you cast when you're behind to dig for answers. It's an alternative to the one-off Obliterate -- a worse effect that's available quicker.

To say the legend rule isn't a problem at all is reductive, if you flip 2 Koth's or 2 Chandras or 2 Pia and Kiran's you're not getting the full value of the card so to me that does indeed indicate a problem. If you're using Koth or Chandra (or both) to cast this spell you're almost certainly not behind on the board.
While I don't think the card is playable there are instances where I can see it being good: Using a Chandra -2 to cast the spell and revealing Anger and Pia and Kiran does seem quite good as you can put the spells on the stack in an order you choose, so Anger clearing the board into a Pia and Kiran does seem a great way to comeback from a losing situation, but the odds of it happening are so low that I'm pretty sure it's not a card worth running.
That Hazoret card is pretty crap actually. At the most medium of times, you will reveal 2 lands. The other two - a mindstone and a lightning bolt? Taking a full turn to cast these, and then another full turn off is incredibly slow and absolutely not worth it.

Like a 4 mana version of Grab the Reins with entwine (that also untaps the creature) ?
Or maybe a 3-mana Word of Seizing/Act of Aggression ?

(or just less bad cards like this so my draws will be better).
