I feel that the core hate (arbiter, mindcensor, thalia; with the land disruption) carries the deck far enough that mu where you want to draw linvala/siguarda don't require you to do so to win, so this might kinda justify the 1of pre-board.
On mtgo, I want 3/4 finks, but at the same time I wish I didn't. I took out my crusaders as well. Bad when they got bolted (all the time); Great when swinging a SoWaP. Will try a few Liege to see what work they can do.
Liege is primarily for the midrange/aggro version of the deck that mostly just beats face. The other version is really D&T with green, and it does not usually run liege or even smiter.
Is Angel of Jubilation a good replacement for Liege? It pumps less, comes with hate, but unfortunately dies to bolt. Or maybe a combination of the both would be optimal.
hello everyone,
i recently migrated to hatebears from junk, which i ended up not playing because of goyfs and bobs. that being said, in my personal experience and testing this deck has actually been better. a list, for reference
granted, the bulk of my testing has been against pod which was a pretty easy matchup, so i may be overestimating this deck. I was unsatisfied with hero of bladehold, which came down turn 4 usually and did nothing at all.
im considering going...
-3 hero
I've been piloting GW bears for sometime now...great for the current meta imo...
Is there a G or W cantrips card??...that is my one wish for this deck is more cards more often. I have 4x horizon canopy now, but my luck with this card has been less than stellar...too many times I pull another land, or even another HC! lol!
Staff of nin, is one consideration for the long grindy match ups, but would love to find something a bit sooner..

I have been considering Lead the Stampede. Seems good if you run around 30 or more creatures.
because i have no cards that cost GG (and i already have the green from the land that i used to cast pilgrim), but many that require WW. i think birds would be better if i ran equipment, however i dont
Can anyone write matchups? For example vs. U / UW / RG Tron, Soul Sisters, Melira/Kiki Pod, Tokens, UWR / UW Control, RDW, Jund / Junk / Doran, Grull aggro?
I can not decide what to build (GW hatebear or UW control) but this will rly help me.
i played against a lot of kiki pod this weekend, and the matchup felt really solid. arbiters, mindcensors and linvala did a lot of work, and i won maybe 4/6 games. we didnt board at all; otherwise the matches would have been probably been even more tilted towards this deck. In general, this deck interferes and stops tricky decks, and pod is basically shenanigans.dec
Cool suggestion, thank you:)!
....now the tough part, finding the right cuts to fit this in:o
Yeah, it was tough for me to figure out what to cut to test them. I'd just post the list, if I were at home, but sadly I'm at work. I settled on changing up my game plan a bit by pulling out my lingering souls (and thus pulling out gavony townships for ghost quarters). Ended up with a 30-creature list that falls somewhere between the two popular variants (hate focused v aggro focused) and 3 Lead the Stampede.
My testing was positive in the 6 or so games that I played. I didn't miss the tokens too much, and the Lead the Stampedes netted me 3 creatures two times and 2 creatures two times in the 4 games I saw them. I'll need to test it more tonight, but I think with a 30-creature list, picking up an average of somewhere between 2 and 3 cards is going to be typical.
The card advantage from it never seemed particularly important, though, but I think that's because the games I played just didn't go very long. The longest was a 9th or 10th turn loss. Still, I certainly didn't feel like I'd rather have had something else in my hand, because it always replaced itself with something relevant. In longer games, it'd really shine.
Well, i have some comments for this cards and consider it in existing metagame. I will stop only on most powerfull and intrested position. Ghost Quarter – one of the beast combination in Modern – Ghost Qurter + Leonin Arbiter = Strip Mine.
Tectonic Edge – just another land fixing. How u can see all of the deck working on lock of any opponent move.
Aven Mindcensor – fetchs, Scapeshift, Birthing Pod, Reshape and Knight of the Reliquary (yes, Knights became actually after Gran Pri). And that dude also fly.
Birds of Paradise – another flying dude. Why is it metter? They fly with sword...
Baneslayer Angel – unbeatable for Domri, much life gain and coming on third turn. Also invularable for much of modern removal. Junds really don’t like any Angels.
Leonin Arbiter – another lock stuff. Fetchs and Pod, both of Throne and Reshape. Belive me, u really need it on second turn, - just look at last Gran Pri lists – too much fetchs everywhere.
Linvala, Keeper of Silence – locking Pod and Twin, Knights and Shamans, just another stuff which can make your life better.
Mirran Crusader – strong beater, with Sword became a dream of idiot. I mean everybody want creature with almost all protections.
Path to Exile – neceserray vs all. Of course we need more pathes, that why we must use Dismember in side.
How you can see all of the deck directed on strong lock of enemy deck. Of course, u can lock not all deck of metagame, but don’t worry – u can just beat them by our sweet Angels.
This deck have a bad mutchup, but it play in really strong game with all populars decks.
Thrones, Pod, UWR, BUG, Eggs, Junds, Five-color Zoo, Scapeshift, RDW, RG – all of them seems easy prey.
I want distinguish one thing – this deck isn’t a just a randomly GW based on big creatures with stupid faces. No. It’s a locking deck , which demads the same treatment. I mean you can’t just play a creatures and going to attack by them. It’s a big field of thought, about side, main and metagame.
If you have any advices for me or any ideas - please say it to me.
If u never see this deck before – just try it and say about you experience.
I don't actually play this deck but looking at decklists and discussion about extra gas and whatnot, is a splash into red for Domri Rade bad? I feel like he could be very strong in a creature heavy deck such as this and his -2 ability isn't necessarily irrelevant.

You read my mind, actually. I've been playing with Lead the Stampede, and I can't help but think Domri Rade is just way, way better. I may give this a shot.

funny...I too was thinking about Domri, too!
But honestly splashing red may be tough to do (at least in my build- sans fetches).....one of the biggest reasons for me splashing Red would be for Hide and Seek, namely the Seek....as an extraction method for soo many decks, specifically Eggs and tron making them scoop!
Domri's good. Comes down on turn 2 often, which is huge for a walker. Splashed for him last night, and he does a couple of key things with his +1, which is his most relevant ability:
1. (obvious) He draws you a card for free half the time, which is super. Feels like a broken(er) bob when this happens.
2. Allows you to shuffle away bad topdecks if you happen to have a fetchland.
His -2 is an emergency removal tool, and it's not irrelevant. Path to Exile is great, but you don't always have one, or you may not wish to ramp your opponent.
I did not add anything else to the deck with the red splash, because my intent is not to make big Zoo. I simply changed 3 lands in my deck and added 3 copies of Domri Rade in for my 3 copies of lead the stampede. If I were to make any other changes, it'd be only to add bolt, but I want to maintain that 30 creature threshold for consistency, pressure, and thalia.
In this midrange-rich meta, the gas provided by Domri is important, and I think a big part of the reason Kibler decided to include nearly a playset of him in his GP decklist. Topdeck mode is not where anyone wants to be, and he can help you avoid that, or just help you win faster simply by increasing your threat density.
I don't even play this deck but I'm glad I could make a contribution. I knew he had some value in some modern or legacy list somewhere. 3 mana cost planeswalkers are insane and the value they give has proven huge. Whether in this deck or in my case liliana of the veil (jund) I feel like they have a place. I was flipping through decks and when I saw the sheer creature count in this deck I felt he was right at home. Now to find Tibalt a home.....
Edit: Also, Raalic, can you post a decklist? I want to try testing this out for change

Definitely. I'll post it here when I get home, today. The deck is in a place where I feel pretty comfortable with it. Sideboard needs some work.
Have you tried fitting a manland or two in there? List looks pretty tight, but I think it would enjoy a Stirring Wildwood and maybe even a Raging Ravine since you're already splashing red. Would it make the mana base too slow or fragile then?
