Kinda out of left field, but anybody have thoughts on the potential playability of Karn, Scion of Urza? It doesn't directly contribute to our game plan, but it offers a solid card advantage engine to colors that are lacking in that regard. I'm tempted to try out one MB copy, but I also think it could have SB potential in matchups where board wipes are a threat as we tend to dump our hand early, so something like a Supreme Verdict is often game over if we don't already have an aura and creature in-hand or fetchable dryad arbor.
Edit: Also interested in thoughts on Frenzied Rage and whether or not it strengthens the argument for exploring a Naya build.Temur Battle Rage alone had me curious about splashing red and Frenzied Rage seems like a nice complement to it, but isn't anything to write home about on its own.
As you say Karn doesn't contribute to our game plan at all and even if it did 4 mana cards are completely unviable here. He's much worse than Gideon/Elspeth if we wanted a 4-mana planeswalker, but we don't. Supreme Verdict is not a huge problem because of the Umbras. Occasionally they'll be able to bounce/kill all the umbras before playing the sweeper, but trying to get around such rare situations is not worth the trouble, better just hope we can reload after with a Spiritdancer.
Frenzied rage is mostly just a bad Spirit Mantle so doesn't seem interesting. Temur Battle Rage also does very little for our game plan as we are not primarily trying to race our opponents but rather present unanswerable threats. There are certainly situations where it's relevant, but it's not really what we are looking for most of the time and as a splash it's not worth it.
For most interesting Dominaria card for Bogles I vote Triumph of Gerrard, but it seems slightly too weak.

Right, I hear ya. I'm not looking for a planeswalker necessarily, but rather just a source of card advantage that can be played in our colors. The Supreme Verdict scenario was just an example of when it'd be nice to have a card draw engine. Definitely agree on Frenzied Rage; bad Spirit Mantle was my first thought as well lol. I've just been itching to play around w/ TBR/Red for a while, but just been waiting on another red card that would make a splash worth testing out. Need to scratch a brew itch and I've started reaching since nearly every new set since Reid Duke's OG 2013 list has given us nothing to work with. Suppose I'll just have to hold onto the pipe dream of WoTC including the Arcanum Wings Aura Swap mechanic in an actual set ....
Good look on Triumph of Gerrard; I completely missed that one when looking through the spoilers. If anything, I think it'd be fun to try out as a singleton. Worst case it buffs our Bogle +2/+2 and we get some life gain along with a turn of temporary evasion for 2cmc; best case scenario it does the same except the buff is +4/+4 so long as we have Ethereal.
@Joban
KCI is Krark-Clan Ironworks. It's a combo deck.
Krark-Clan Ironworks is essentially the new "Eggs" deck. I have only been following or playing occasionally Eggs since Second Sunrise. This version uses Scrap Trawler instead of Faith's Reward in order to create a loop. The combo is essentially having KCI, Scrap Trawler, Myr Retriever, and a 1 mana Egg in play. Sacrifice the egg, then the Retriever, with the Retriever sac on the stack, sac the Trawler and the KCI, getting a bunch of mana, the Retriever can now target the KCI, which targeted the Trawler, which targeted the Retriever. Essentially you will be able to get infinite mana and draw your deck, which allows you to Engineered Explosives for any cost, including 4 to destroy Leyline of Sanctity before tossing a Pyrite Spellbomb at you enough to kill you. Pyrite Spellbomb also doubles as an Egg, so it's an important card.
Also it does super well vs. Bogles. They win game 1. They're too fast and we have no interaction. Then we have to hope that we stick a Stony Silence and their draws don't lead them to Engineered Explosives or Nature's Claim before we kill them. Spiritdancer is probably the best way, although they technically can side in Galvanic Blast (but I don't think they do).
Played in an 21 person WNM with Bogles. I figured it would be good in the current meta of Hollow One, Humans, and many decks tyring to beat them. I changed my mind on Bogles on Monday because I saw 2 Lantern players at the other store, lol.
Round 1 vs. Affinity. He mulled to 5 and I had a nut hand with Bogle into Spider Umbra into Daybreak Coronet. Since he got Ravager, I had to not block a Vault Skirge with Cranial Plating once, but after that, I slapped on Rancor after Rancor and it was easy then. In the next game, I did Seal of Primordium on a Steel Overseer and got another big dude with Spider Umbra and Daybreak Coronet. I had Gryff's Boon for good measure too. Gotta play around that Wear/Tear, right? 2-0.
Round 2 vs. Big Zoo. Game 1, I am racing, but he's still somewhat close. I probably barely win the race, but I draw Daybreak Coronet on the final turn and he scoops in response to it. In the next game, I kept on 3 Aura, Bogle, 2 land, and a Path to Exile. He plays turn 3, 4, and 5 Bloodbraid Elves and I don't draw another single Aura. I needed +2/+2 to win on the spot. In the last game, I rush him with a Bogle and end up getting there in the race because I had 2 Path to Exile in my hand and unlike Game 2 when I got stuck on 2 land for a turn, I drew my 3rd land to advance my board and leave up Path to Exile. GGs, the other Path was not needed. This guy is a really good player, posts here in the Zoo thread, is part of my team, and has beaten me probably around 6 out of the 10 times we've played. Maybe that's not bad to some people, but to me, it's embarrassing. I don't have that bad a record against too many players. 2-1.
Round 3 vs. UB Mill. Paired down, but he can still get 3-1 if he wins out. Game 1 milled me out, had Crabs to block, and got an Ensnaring Bridge the turn of lethal during my attack step with Shelldock Isle. In the next game, I just goldfished him with a Kor Spiritdancer, still having a Seal of Primordium in hand for a potential Bridge. In the last game, I keep on 0 land with Leyline of Sanctity, but he gets 2 of the mill 3 dude, delirium mill 3 on my upkeep. After 2 of these such mills, I drew my 2nd land to SLAM Rest in Peace and win easily from there. No more delirium for you BUD! 2-1.
Round 4 vs. GR Eldrazi. Here I am kind of mad at myself because I played Bogles this day because of RG Eldrazi too. I had lost to that deck the last 3 times I played against it with other decks, mostly due to mulligans and poor draws, but still. I wanted to beat it. But I also wanted to take a sure thing in store credit so I could buy a 3rd Gaddock Teeg, which I did afterward, costing me the store credit and $7 more. If I had gotten 4-0, it would have paid for it, but 3-1 would have seen me having to pay $15 or more. Took the sure thing like a coward, lol. I also wanted to play this guy because 2 of the 3 last times I played against him, I didn't have a "real match," with too many mulligans and poor draws. 0-0-3.
I won 3 of die rolls today, having only won 1 out of the past 16. So, I'm at 4 out of 20 now. One of the reasons I feel Modern has a lot of variance is because if I was to order the play skill of my opponents, it would be Round 2 is the best, Round 1 is a very close 2nd, Round 4 is far away, and Round 3 is just a newer budget player, so he has a lot to learn. BTW, the Round 1 and 2 guys would have finished 3-1 each, but they played each other and the Zoo guy advanced.
I like playing Bogles. I just think that I needed to make sure I ran other decks too, because after playing Bogles for so long, I only knew how to do "Bogly" things. When you play one deck for a bit, you master it, but you also forget how to play other decks super well and I have that expectation for myself. I expect myself to pick up any deck and play it very well. Recently I haven't done that. I had a really bad streak of losing and now that it's over, I am making more play mistakes than ever. I guess it's easier to make play mistakes when you're ahead sometimes...

Solid write up, man. Totally agree with ya on the need to switch things up. Unfortunately, I only get time to play maybe three FNMS every two months, so I've been stuck in that "Bogly" mode lol. Really noticed it when I built Ponza, a relatively easy deck to pilot, and felt like I've never seen a Magic card before.
Also, KCI definitely seems like a bad matchup. I was watching the GP Hartford finals where the KCI dude took down Amulet and I just kept thinking how screwed one of the two Bogles players would've been had one made it to the final lol. Still pretty cool to see two in the top 16; seems to speak volumes about how we matchup against the current meta. Very surprised to see no Humans in the top 8.

Tell me about it. I have high expectations of myself because I play quite often currently, so when I make mistakes that I feel are avoidable, I take it pretty hard. I mean, I do accept it and move on, but it lingers at least until the end of the day. "Why did I do that stupid move?" Lol.

Started with 1 bye, finished an unimpressive 8-7. My match ups were very weird and not what I was hoping to play. Zero qualms with my deck choice and it performed well so I felt validated, but just drew some short straws.
Round 2 - Mirror (1-2)
Starting off on the draw in the mirror sucked. He smashed me, then I smashed him and then we both mulligan to 4 and 5 cards (I'm on four). His hand is great and mine is pretty middling. I manage to set up with some Seals and getting a Spirit Mantle on my arbor but he has a path and I lose.
1-1
Round 3 - Hollow One (2-0)
I think this was my fastest round of the day. Pretty standard Bogles hands and not enough resistance from my opponent to beat my nut draws. Not much else to say.
2-1
Round 4 - Merfolk (0-2)
Eight seas Merfolk to be exact. Game 1 I only find two lands until late in the game so the seas on one of my land really slows me down. Lucky, I flood on bogles to cast off of seas. Unluckily I flood on bogles. Game 2 I keep dancer, 2 lands, 2 seal, ethereal and another 1 mana aura. He goes Claim into Seas into Silvergill + claim. Two seal wasn't enough to let me play magic.
2-2
Round 5 - Tron (2-1)
By this point I'm feeling pretty down and then I find I am matched against tron. Game 1 I get pretty typically tronned on turn 4 with an Ugin crushing my life. Game 2 I have a fast Bogles hand before he can get off the ground. Game 3 I have a Stony and I slow him down a while, he takes a bit to to find tron and clear the stony, I clear karn and he ostones my board. I rebuild slightly and he puts down a TKS followed by a wurmcoil. I find a dancer and draw some more auras, load up and swing. He doesn't realize Rancor gives trample and blocks poorly. I got lucky to escape here but I think I was favored either way given his empty hand and awkward blocks even with wurm and a follow up stone.
3-2
Round 6 - Merfolk (2-1)
Merfolk again?! These games went somewhat more expected, I got merfolked out a game with seas and aggro. I bogles'd him out a game and then game 3 we mulled, he kept a sketchy one lander and my hand was great and it was over pretty quick.
4-2
Round 7 - RG Vine (2-1)
I'm unsure of if he's RG or Jund hollowvine game 1. I have a bogles hand but he does put up a lot of pressure; I still get there. Game 2 I have a 5/5 first striker, I'm chunking him and elect to attack into his creatures thinking I can set up lethal for next turn if I draw any aura. He untaps adds a couple creatures to the board, plays a bushwalker and kills me out of nowhere... oops. Game 3 he's on the aggressive and I try to defend. I set up with a spiritdancer and his attacks are awkward. I chain into a million auras, load it up and attack for 31 which deals exact lethal through all his blocks.
5-2
Round 8 - Affinity (2-0)
I guess it was meant to be because both my hands were nuts. I have the bogles nutter draws and although it didnt matter, my opponent did not realize gryff's boon gave flying and attacking with a plating wearing ornithopter into my first strike flier.
6-2
Round 9 - Etron (0-2)
Guess my luck ran out. I saw this guy beside me on round 2 of day 1 and knew he was on Etron. Game 1 I have a great hand but unfortunately have a dancer and not a bogle. Once I play the dancer, he realizes I'm bogles and plays chalice. I still cast a million on mana auras trying to find daybreak and spirit mantle but I can't get there before smasher kills me. Game 2 I mull to four and while I put up a good fight I can't quite get off the ground before Smasher crushes me again.
6-3
Round 10 - Mirror (0-2)
I'm against Calcano and I'm pretty sure it was 0-2, I don't think I got a game. Game 1 I'm actually not paying attention and watching the guy beside me get a game loss and Calcano is on the play..so I miss my leyline...oops. Spend the entire game calculating whether it would have killed him with my Ethereal Armor. Calculations put him at 1 life so phew. I die to dancer. Game 2 I die to dancer. What's new.
6-4
Round 11 - Storm (2-1)
Game 1 I build a big threat by turn four and present lethal. He tries to go off but can't quite get there. Game 2 I set up but he gets a ton of gobbos turn 3 and I do not manage to race. Game 3 he again makes gobbos but can't beat the daybreak. Didn't actually see any hate cards in the match up. Well, I hard cast a leyline that got remanded.
7-4
Round 12 - Tron (0-2)
It might have been 1-2, I can't remember if I got a game or I got close, he made a comment about losing but then won anyway. In between games he mentioned how he never finds Stony a big deal. I side in stony and play it on turn 2 on the play. He cast zero spells and nats turn 3 tron into Karn on a mulligan. No wonder he doesn't fear Stony
7-5
Round 13 - Humans (0-2)
By this point my heads pretty out of it despite needing the PWP pretty bad for my second bye. My opponent is very chatty and bubbly so it's a fun match. Game 1 I believe my draw is pretty middling against a good and disruptive humans draw. Game 2 I bring in a Seals because I hear humans is on Worship tech at the event. They also hit vials. I mull and find one, play it out and my hand is kind of slow. I fail to notice she's stuck on two lands and I let her gain board advantage before I pop my Seal on her vial (only because I drew a second). Likely the biggest misplay of the tournament that cost me this one.
7-6
Round 14 - GW Hatebears (0-2)
Once again, not sure if this is 0-2 or 1-2, my wins are quick so they're easily forgotten. He discusses having trouble with humans before the match so I think "oh maybe he's on a combo deck" and keep a mediocre dryad arbor leyline and umbras hand. Turns out he's on flickerwisps and GQs soooo yeah. Game 2 is very close, I can put him to one but I don't draw any evasive auras or anything to push a bit extra damage and he gets there. This felt like it should have been winnable.
7-7
Round 15 - GR Eldrazi (2-1)
Game 1 he has a mediocre draw and I actually do as well and the game goes on for a while but I eventually find a good aura and end it. Game 2 he has a good draw with a timely Kreturn and an Explosives and I lose. Game 3 I have a massive, non evasive dancer and he has chumps for days. I'm at nearly 300 by the time I find a spirit mantle.
8-7
Overall, I was happy with the deck choice and the day 2. I wish my match ups broke better for me but even still, had I played better and stayed focus it likely could have been a 10-5. I would definitely play the deck again. Tron gave me a lot of trouble and felt like the match up I wanted to see the least. Even with the Teegs in play, it didn't feel amazing. I want to give damping sphere a try. I apologize if there's any spelling errors, I'm pretty tired.
Thanks for the write up, man. You had some very interesting matchups; can't say I've ever heard of a Bogles player playing the mirror twice at a GP lol.
Yeah that's basically become my GP strategy. I've gravitated toward the more linear aggressive decks for various reasons. Bogles feels like it's in a really good spot right now. I typically like to tune lists, but I kind of think sticking with what's been winning seems like the correct call this time. Thanks for the tips.
I have a very real and visceral terror that Spellskite is going to come back into boards at some point at which point things become a lot worse for us. We will need access to all 4 paths again which probably ruins the decks macro numbers. The current list evolved by being able to cut paths for leylines. If we run mainboard playsets of paths and leylines our decks enchantment velocity will suffer.
Unrelated, I borrowed my boggles out for a modern 1k at Pastimes games last weekend and they won. I asked my bud to "grind some xp and level up my deck" and he delivered.
Lol. It happens. Variance is a real thing in Modern...in every format, but I feel it's more Modern related than other formats in my own experience.
Funny video. I don't think Spellskite will come back. It kind of died when Splinter Twin died and the final nail was Gitaxian Probe from Infect. I guess if those decks make a come back, it's possible, but that's the least of our worries right now. On the local level though, it could happen.

Yeah no problem, I played the deck at FNM friday and confirmed my suspicions that it will be great for my local meta. I'm playing Legacy in Toronto so I won't have a modern tourny until at least June, but as of now I'd run this back (probably change the board a bit).
On the note of SS, I think a bunch of decks would just run back to nature or more explosives. Honestly, didn't find explosives that hard to play through. With seals in after board in a ton of match ups anyway, I think don't know that SS would even survive long enough to give us trouble.
Nice. What are you playing in Legacy in Toronto? I have some guys trying to get me on their team for Toronto, but I don't want to spend that much and go to a super cold place, lol. I'm a California guy and the last time I went to Toronto (non Magic related), I had to drive in SNOW. :|

Spellskite has returned to it's cheap price when it was in Standard many years ago, because almost no one use it anymore.. well, maybe in small FNM's where everyone know what each other is playing, the Spellskite is still played. With Twin gone, and Infect being in small numbers.. the natural enemies of Boggles deck are almost gone.. and I think this deck is strong against the Hollow One decks that are in large numbers right now.
I didn't use to have any problems at all with this matchup at all when I played it before. The deck isn't actually super fast, it's very rare that they can win on turn 3 and even turn 4 is far from guaranteed simply because they won't always find the KCI. Compared to Bogles their average goldfish might be 0.3 turns or so quicker, which isn't much at all. After sideboard I would bring in 3 Stony Silence, 3 Nature's Claim, 2 Rest in Peace and 2 Gaddock Teeg and I felt that this would give me a massive advantage post-sideboard.
The version of KCI currently played includes 3 Engineered Explosives maindeck and 4 Nature's Claim in the sideboard and that's really the big issue, not their pure speed. Even so, the sideboard suite is really strong, especially Gaddock Teeg. It's possible they have a slight advantage overall, maybe 55-60%, but it's nothing we need to be too worried about.
I don't think Spellskite will come back. It kind of died when Splinter Twin died and the final nail was Gitaxian Probe from Infect. I guess if those decks make a come back, it's possible, but that's the least of our worries right now. On the local level though, it could happen.
Agreed; Spellskite provided some solid utility out of the SB during those days. It may gain some traction should Bogles continue to perform well in the meta and we concurrently see a resurgence in Infect, but I don't think it's an immediate concern. Even if it were to rise back up to prominence, we could always run Cartouche of Solidarity if absolutely necessary. Having Cartouche & Daybreak which can't be stolen would make it easier to dance around SS until we draw a PtE. Typically, I wouldn't want to run more than one Cartouche, but in the hypothetical situation where SS is running amok it's a potential tool that we didn't have back then.
I really expecting most U/W players will SB Settle the Wreckage, how do you play around that card? Try to save a Bogle in your hand?
Played a Tourney recently:
Round 1 vs Abzan Company:
Game 1 - I Kept a hand with Bogle, 4 enchantment, 1 Leyline, 1 land on the play, then I never draw a land for 5 turns, he eventually found a Infinite Walking Balista and I lost. It was really close, got him to 2 life
Game 2 - Got him to 2 life but he found the combo so yeah... I sided in Gaddock Teeg to stop his Company and Chord but he didn't used them to win.
I should side in 2 more path and put a Cage in my sideboard, (btw is Teeg very effective in this matchup?)_
Round 2 vs Jund
Game 1 - I don't have Leyline, he on the play, I keep a hand with 2 land 1 Bogle, 4 Enchantmnt, he discarded by Bogle, I didn't draw another creature, and it is too slow for me.
Game 2 - Won due to my huge bogle.
Game 3 - Very close game, he tried to Liliana sac my Bogle, but I respond with fetch to get Dryad, then next turn he didn't have another Liliana and I won. (Almost 0-2 :/)
Round 3 vs Grixis Control
Game 1 - He don't have any anwser for a big bogle.
Game 2 - He have EE, cleared my field, then drop down a Tasigur, I have another bogle in hand, there was 2 Gryff's Boon in my graveyard to enhant back to my Bogle, then a Daybreak he don't have counter for it.
Round 3 vs Jund
Game 1 - beat down with a big Bogle
Game 2 - He discard my Bogle, killed my Spirit Dancer, Dark Confidant always draw him more card without losing life. Then I top deck like 5 lands >.<
Game 3 - Got him down to 2 life, I have a big bogle without other creature and no Leyline, his only out was to hardcast BBE into a Liliana of the Veil, then his BBE cascade hit bolt... next 2 card was Liliana.
Went from 0-1 to 3-1 ... was a long grind, still new to the deck, have to practice how to mulligan well I guess.
@Tigerpawx - Gaddock Teeg is nuts vs. this deck. It literally is the only chance for us to win in my opinion, outside of them not finding anything and us having Rancor/Gryff's Boon/Spirit Mantle.
Been sucking recently. Played in a 1K, 59 people, 6 rounds. Lost 6 die rolls.
Round 1 vs. KCI. 1 of 8 guys I know pretty well. I assumed I'd play against 5 of them. Long games. We went to time. I have 2 Kor Spiritdancer and 2 land. I think he's on Lantern, so hopefully he doesn't get a Bridge before turn 4 or 5. I play the Spiritdancer and Auras, but don't find a 3rd land and lose as he combos out on turn 4. I should have scooped earlier, as he didn't have Myr Retriever, but he had enough to kill me with a recurring Pyrite Spellbomb. This cost me. In the next game, I get Gaddock Teeg and make him big. He gets Ensnaring Bridge. I make a few mistakes attacking after killing it for him to bounce it back with Myr Retriever and Scrap Trawler. I should have waited until the swing was lethal, but I find Spiritdancer and get enough cards to swing for lethal. It took my 3rd artifact removal as Bridge kept coming back. Big mistake. The last game goes nearly to time. I keep on Stony Silence, Rest in Peace, Gaddock Teeg, Kor Spiritdancer, but 1 land. I go to the discard a few times, but get a 2nd land after 3 discards. I do Gaddock Teeg, but he keeps swinging with Scrappy and I double fetched, shocked, so I'm low. Instead of just doing Rest in Peace/Stony Silence when I have 4 mana, I go for double Daybreak Coronet in case he has Nature's Claim. He does and does double to knock the Auras and Daybreak Coronet off Gaddock Teeg. He draws Pyroclasm and combos off while I have Stony and RIP in hand. I went for the win because we were on time instead of just making sure I don't die. I'm all right with it since a Tie is bad for both of us. 1-2.
Round 2 vs. Titanshift. This is a close matchup; when both players draw decently. I draw the nuts and get a quick Bogle to kill on turn 4. All he did was Relic of Progenitus into ramp into ramp. I had Spirit Mantle, so there wouldn't have been any blocking anyway. The next game is painful, so I'm glad not that many people saw it. I put all my Auras on and it's kind of slow. He has a turn 4 win if he has a win-con. He doesn't find it and I keep slowly swinging as I draw land after land. I literally needed any Aura to do lethal, but he gets Thragtusk. It slows me down, as I can't find an Aura. But...he never finds a win-con. I know that feeling in Titanshift. 4 Prime Time, 4 Scapeshift, 2 Summoner's Pact, can't find em! 2-0.
Round 3 vs. Humans. He gets Kitesail Freebooter and Meddling Mage to slow me down, so I only cast 2 Kor Spiritdancer. He also Images, naming Daybreak Coronet. Basically he gets me low while I draw Bogles and land. I draw an Aura in time and go off when I have 6 mana in play. His clock was slow with Kitesail Freebooters and a chumped Champion of the Parish. Those Bogles were key. In the next game, he does triple Champion of the Parish, but off 1 land and it's too slow. I trade with a Bogle, but have Kor Spiritdancer to get big and win. I had a fetch in hand as backup to get a Dryad Arbor and 2 Auras to go with him in case. This is the matchup I came for. Lucky to face 1. This guy usually plays Abzan Company and has beaten me over the years when I travel 3 out of 4 times, all of the times I was on Bogles. 2-0.
Round 4 vs. Jund. This was literally the only roll I wish I had won. He discards my Gladecover Scout. I draw nothing but a Kor Spiritdancer after sacrificing 2 Horizon Canopy, stranding me with Spiritdancer in hand and he kills me with a turn 2 Bob and double Scavenging Ooze. I have Leyline of Sanctity in the next game and end up getting there after some poor draws. I rebuild with another Bogle after Bloodbraid Elf into Anger of the Gods kills 3 creatures, 2 being 1/1 vigilance tokens. His Lily was ticking up, so him drawing a Maelstrom Pulse could have been bad. I have a Leyline before the game in game 3 after a mull. I get some Auras, but he has turn 3 Engineered Explosives. The Totem Armor protects the dude, but I lost Ethereal Armor. I rebuild with Rancor and another Totem Armor. I am close to winning, but I can't find another single Aura and he finds Tarmogoyf to stop me. He draws gas. I draw nothing. Lily is ticking up. On the final turn, he goes for lethal. I fetch for Dryad Arbor, but he had another Bolt. He had just discarded one, so I thought I was safe. It literally could have been lethal on the swing back. My Bogle was only +1/+1 larger than right after the EE blew up and I rebuilt. Bogles doesn't top deck as well as Jund. I can't be mad about that. I just literally needed a single Aura to make my 6/4 first strike dude larger than a 6/7 Goyf. 1-2.
Round 5 vs. UR Breach?/Moon. Game 1, I keep on 1 land. I get Blood Mooned, then I draw 3 straight fetches. Game over as a Vendilion Clique and 2 Snapcaster Mage beat me down. In the next game, I got Gaddock Teeg with Ethereal Armor, Rancor, and then Daybreak Coronet. He can't stop this, doing a Blood Moon, which I float mana and Nature's Claim. I knew that card in my opener would be good. He gets another Blood Moon, but the pressure is already on the board. I end up getting there in the last game after a few Anger of the Gods, and some back and forth. Alas, he did not have Through the Breach or was missing the Emrakul. I saw discard, Bob, Lily except Lily in game 3 in my previous match. This one, I don't see a single Through the Breach. Lucky. 2-1.
Round 6 vs. GB Tron. He mulls to 5 and I put a lot of pressure on the board. It gets ugly as I can't draw a single Aura to swing for lethal for a few turns as he Karns an Aura. I finally get there, as he doesn't have Ugin. I mull in the next game and don't find Gaddock Teeg or Stony. He gets Wurmcoil Engine, Karn, Emrakul, then Ugin. It was over a while ago. In the last game after another mull, he gets some more Oblivion Stones and the 2nd one cripples me. I put Aura and Rancor, but draw nothing else and eventually Emrakul, the Promised End promises me to end the game as my only threat swings into it. Mind you, this was after 2 Oblivion Stone. 1-2.
I finish 3-3, which is pretty sad. I stayed because I could have gotten some small prize for 9-16th, but losing the last round most assuredly put me out. I came for Burn, Humans, Hollow One, and Affinity. Faced 1 of them, so I can't be mad. Was going to play Abzan Company, but I HAAATE playing vs. Jeskai or Grixis. Saw a bunch of friends playing vs. them, including an Elves player playing 2 straight Jeskai after being 2-0. I told him to pass those matchups to me, but honestly you have to be prepared to face many poor matchups in Modern.

Love your write-ups, FCG. From the look of it, it seems like spirit dancer and Teeg were your co-MVPs. I think I'll start playing Spiritdancer again the next time I break out the deck and see if I have any better luck; I've always found her to be underwhelming, so I've been running a 2-2 split of her and Silhana for the longest time.

I love Kor Spiritdancer. It puts the opponent in an odd situation - they want to board out removal, but they need to keep some for Kor Spiritdancer and the occasional Gaddock Teeg after SB. I think it's part of what makes this deck so strong. If they draw removal, especially 2 of them, in a game in which we beat with Slippery Bogle, we probably win. If they don't draw removal in time or leave it up when we get Kor Spiritdancer, we probably win. Playing Kor Spiritdancer on turn 3 with Spider Umbra or Hyena Umbra right away is a strong play.
Also, there are a lot of uninteractive decks. We simply can't beat them without Kor Spiritdancer. I keep hands with Kor Spiritdancer occasionally when I need a silver bullet to shut down my opponent. I draw so many cards against uninteractive decks that I may find the silver bullet in time. Sometimes it's too slow, obviously, but what else can you do in an uninteractive matchup where we lose otherwise?
*Regarding the tournament, I literally thought about MAINBOARDING Gaddock Teeg from now on. But then I came to my senses and realized how much I'd miss the Spiritdancer. I've never liked Silhana Ledgewalker. I tried it just a tiny bit in Modern Bogles and moreso in Pauper Bogles, but never liked it. It just felt too slow, even in Pauper. It's a powerful format! Lol.

@Joban
I am a new bogles player. Maybe I am just lucky, the matchup against KCI is not THAT bad. Yes, game 1 is miserable. But after s, stony silence, rest in peace, teeg are all doing some heavy duties there..

I was talking to a friend over facebook the other day about the Bogles/KCI matchup. I feel it's worse than I even think, mostly because I drew those cards. I doubt he's seen those cards too often, so it's been rough for him.
My "expert analysis" here - I'm guessing game 1 is 30/70 for us, so a 30% chance of winning. After siding in 2 Rest in Peace, 2 Stony Silence, and 3 Gaddock Teeg, we probably up that to about 50/50. That seems like a somewhat poor matchup still, considering there are matchups where we win over 65% of the time, like Humans/Affinity/Hollow One.
I am most likely wrong about the exact numbers since I've played against it now only twice, but it's my theory of how the match should go. I think I know at least what to side in and what to side out and what they SHOULD also side in and out (assuming they're playing Matt Nass's version of course).

Norin the Wary, Grimgrin, Adun Oakenshield (taking forever to build)(dead format for me)Solid write up, man.

As I have yet to take down a 1k, I felt a little like this (the guitar is my deck): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wFHSzuXADPA&feature=youtu.be&t=1m39s
Hope everyone is having a good time boggling with spring in the air!
Funny video. I don't think Spellskite will come back. It kind of died when Splinter Twin died and the final nail was Gitaxian Probe from Infect. I guess if those decks make a come back, it's possible, but that's the least of our worries right now. On the local level though, it could happen.

Norin the Wary, Grimgrin, Adun Oakenshield (taking forever to build)(dead format for me)On the note of SS, I think a bunch of decks would just run back to nature or more explosives. Honestly, didn't find explosives that hard to play through. With seals in after board in a ton of match ups anyway, I think don't know that SS would even survive long enough to give us trouble.

Norin the Wary, Grimgrin, Adun Oakenshield (taking forever to build)(dead format for me)Spellskite has returned to it's cheap price when it was in Standard many years ago, because almost no one use it anymore.. well, maybe in small FNM's where everyone know what each other is playing, the Spellskite is still played. With Twin gone, and Infect being in small numbers.. the natural enemies of Boggles deck are almost gone.. and I think this deck is strong against the Hollow One decks that are in large numbers right now.

EDH: Xenagos, God of Revels.

Lol.

Norin the Wary, Grimgrin, Adun Oakenshield (taking forever to build)(dead format for me)I am a new bogles player.
