Costs 3, hardly impacts the board, does nearly nothing to protect itself, does not further the mill plan very well. Slow and easy to remove. Does not seem like a good fit at all.
Cards that cost 4 mana better say something like "Exile all creatures. For each creature exiled this way, it's controller puts the top 3 cards from their library into their graveyard" or I'm probably not even remotely interested.
Sounds like an expensive Thoughtscour. That being said the new Jace belongs with a bunch of other planeswalkers like Ashiok that are strong in slow matchups and are just bad cards in aggro matchups. Feels like a SB card specifically against control.
I don't play esper but I'd at least test the 3 mana Teferi to see how he performs in various matchups. Being able to make all your spells uncounterable and be able to play Glimpse at end of opponents turn would feel great. Feels bad against fast decks tho.
Just let him die and be happy your opponent is playing removal instead of cards that actually kill you. Also, there are decks that don't play removal where he is an engine from Turn 1 and all you have to is be the control deck in the matchup and he will do most of the work for you... And we have no other mill plays for Turn 1. Also, it's not like we're swimming in awesome cards to replace him with. Cutting Crabs for cards like Mind Funeral and Breaking feels awful.
Crab is the best card in the deck. If there was another card called Hedron Lobster that did the exact same thing as Hedron Crab, I'd play 4 of each. Same for Hedron Shrimp. I'd play 4 of those too. You can never have enough Hedron Crabs.
I see it now. T2 image does not pay off till t3, which is much too late. You'd be running Image on T3, and that's not a good move unless you somehow can also play a 2nd Crab and fetch. Even then you are only milling 18, which is not enough on T3, considering you have left no mana open.
As for the 41st place list. I see the Ashiok and Mind Funerals being a concession to BG and UW Control as having a bunch of inquisitions and brutalities just kind of stalls the game but doesn't close it. I was watching Stickballruss's stream (put up the most recent 5-0 list with an old school mill list) and saw a ton of matches of him playing vs UW Control and even BG and how much difference it makes having more threat based cards opposed to answer cards in your deck. However, when watching him stream vs burn he thinks the matchup is unwinnable which it is unless you are playing brutalities and inquisitions to interact on turns 1 and 2. He's a very entertaining streamer though and a pretty good player. I think Chung fell off the grid. Maybe he left the game?
This needs to be an Instant to be worth it, I think.
Why?
Because 4 mana cards that do basically nothing are not very good. 4 mana cards that let you hold up mana to play other spells if you need to, but then if not needed allow you to get back spells you want are very good.
Imagine if Collected Company was a sorcery and put the creatures in your hand. That's what this card is.
Even if it gets killed the turn after you have: milled two cards, replaced it, saved yourself 5 damage.
Casting this vs Affinity, Burn and any other good aggro might be the last thing you cast in game

Still, probably worth testing as a 1 or 2 of, but at Sorcery speed, it's probably not playable
you imagine if this was a instant and grabbing two archive traps in the graveyard then replaying them for free.
