Hello guys. Does anybody runs smuggler's copters with faeries nowadays ? If smuggler's copter still viable, when and with witch build should I run it ?
I was playing a Wizard's Retort for a few weeks but found it too cute and not pulling it's weight. I replaced it with a 25th land, Field of Ruin, which I hope will help my land light draws as well as provide a small edge vs big mana decks.
I've been able to have a slightly narrow edge against Humans, though it is a very difficult match up if you fall even a little bit behind. Tron and the Eldrazi decks are a bit of a nightmare to play against, but if you aggressively mulligan to a hand that can pressure them and they get unlucky, you can pull out a win. I haven't played against much Mardu yet, but that might be a fairly even, or slightly favored match, since Bitterblossom trumps their one for one removal, and if you're aware, you can fetch around Blood Moon. Jeskai Control is another match that I haven't gotten to face, and I'm actually not sure whose favored. I used to feel Faeries was a slight favorite in the match, but no it really depends on builds, plus Jeskai got some nice stuff lately.
At the last Modern night I played, I went 2-2. I beat a Collected Company humans deck and a newer player with a deck built of draft chaff and assorted bulk rares. I lost to both Tron and GR Scapeshift/Through the Breach, never keeping an opening hand against either. I've noticed I've needed to mulligan a huge amount of one landers, which is why i moved toward playing the 25th land. I didn't want another land that could end up coming into play tapped. Playing another colorless land is a bit worrying, but at least this one can get me a basic in a pinch, and can take down some trouble some creature lands or a Tron land. I'll see how it plays and will evaluate things after.

I've never like Smuggler's Copter, as it relies on you having another threat on the battlefield along side it. Paulo Vitor explained it in his article on CFB (it's a little out of date now, what with he unbannings and all), which really resonated with me.
Does quickling have a place in ub faeries ? I want to run two, bounce some faeries or snap-caster for tempo play. If somebody already tried it, please tell me your experience with it.
My current deck:
I run 2 mutavault because I feel 4 screw my mana a lot. I used Jace, the Mind Sculptor and I don't like it. The card is great but for me it feels like it too much grindy with bitterblossom. I want to play aggro control not full control. Therefore, I cut 2 of them from my deck. Spell snare is great card. In my local meta it does a lot. I usually counter a lot of remand, tarmogoyf, it is great against storm decks. It cost only one mana ,so I cut mana leak and replace them with spell snare
I've not personally tried just slotting it in, but it doesn't seem particularly good. Delver is a pretty weak creature in modern, and its not a faerie, which really hurt it. You also pretty much have to play serum visions along side it, which some people already do, but not everyone does.
Its also a pretty weak topdeck lategame, like many other cards we play are (bitterblossom, discard, ancestral, etc). I just don't see the value added by delver to be enough to outweigh these disadvantages.

Yah, it is too slow. I tried running 4 delvers in my last FNM and almost in every matchups people just kill him after he transforms.
I've been thinking about building faeries to have a second modern deck. Been reading the last few pages and saw it mentioned that the white splash (and scion of oona) are both things that people don't stick with. Why is that? I can understand the scion being lackluster, but I saw this list with quellers and teferi and thought it looked pretty great:
though I think mistbind clique is a neat card, so I'd probably try swapping out the jaces I lack for those..
Seems to be going down hand disruption for extra paths and the quellers. Just wondering what the problem with going for the white splash seemed to be.
Thanks!
In my opinion adding 3d colour mess mana pretty hard. I think running creeping tar pit and mutavault give much more benefits than splashing 3d colour. Usually, hand disruption and fatal pushes is enough to protect yourself from big threats, therefore, I don't see the reason to add 3d colour.
Has anyone tried search for azcanta in any variation or do you think it's just too slow for faeries? Generally you'd want to be dropping a Blossom on turn two obviously but in control match ups do you think it would be a good sideboard?
How do you feel about the 2 copies of ancestral visions? I wanted to use 4, but they sometimes feel too slow. On the other hand isn't 2 too few? It seems like the type of card that you want on turn 1 and not later.
I don't like ancestral vision, I use to run 4 of them as my main one drop. However, modern is very fast format and most of the time, turn 4 card draw doesn't help. What I understand from my experience of playing faeries ,that most important turns are one and two. On turn one in my opinion, hand disruption spells are much stronger than ancestral vision. Jeff Hoggland played faeries recently. I really like his deck and agree with most of his points about the deck. Here you can check his last game.
Also here is the deck I am currently running. I did not play vs humans yet, as in my local meta mostly burn, goblins, tron ,storm, grix shadow and jund decks. Hope I will find a human player this FNM
I beat Elves, Infect and Junk Unburial Rites. I lost to "Eldrazi and Taxes". I really liked the list, but I'll likely make a few changes. Azcantas should be Snapcaster Mages, and I'd like another removal spell in the sideboard, probably another Cast Down.

Why you don't play Mana Leak ? Is Tasigur really good in this deck ?

Mana Leak: This is kind of a weird question. There are literally hundreds of modern legal blue and black cards I didn't play. Do you mean why didn't I play Mana Leak instead of XXXXXX? If so, which card are you comparing it to? I like Mana Leak, but I just didn't use it in this build and probably won't this upcoming Friday either but after playing the deck I suspect it's fine and as good of a choice as some of the disruption or the sideboard counterspells.
Tasigur: I casted him three times over the course of the night and it felt like one of the better cards in the deck, and I didn't activate his ability.
I've been posting over in the state of modern thread, and recently it came to my attention that there was a whole thread here for the deck I've been running for nearly a year straight, lol. I've not had the chance to pore through this whole thread yet, but I just wanted to say hi and let y'all know that I'm glad I'm not the only person playing this deck type. ^-^
Two things: one, I don't currently have access to a computer outside of the library, so I do about 95% of my posting from my phone. Second, I'm currently planning to attend GP Atlanta this fall, and Faeries is my deck of choice. I think it's criminally underused, and it's got game against a lot of the field.
My build is UB, although I've been tempted to try Esper. I have no idea what the meta is going to look like in November, so I've just been adjusting to what's been going on locally, which lately has been the Tron/Humans/Hollow One show. I even threw out Murderous Cut from my sideboard and replaced it with Reality Shift to help. I'm at work so I dont have my exact deck list available atm, but I'll post that here within the day. I can say that my list is a bit non-traditional, but it has been doing quite well for me at the local level. Probably the biggest surprise out of my sideboard is Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver which gives the deck a lot of game in specific matchups. Now I'm about 85% sure it won't stay in my side come November, but it has produced a lot of great interactions in games.

Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver is totally a solid card and underrated by a long shot. In a shell like faeries where you'll have a good number of blockers while Ashiok ticks up, it's a huge threat that can steal the game quickly if left unchecked.
I run it myself as a one of in my sideboard and it's gotten me quite a few wins from either a turn three play or when the board is in a stalemate. Though it's a pretty dead card if you're staring down a board of elves, humans, or eldrazi.
I'm curious why you would be cutting it when it runs so well against both humans and hollow one (especially hollow one), both of which you said you tried to build for?
