It looks like the tempo plan of attacking with Cliques is not feasible in Modern anymore, yet I don't feel like buying into Jace, the Wallet Sculptor (sorry I talk about budget in the competitive forum). Could Smuggler's Copter be a viable alternative? I'm thinking of a more tap out list:
I don't know if this draft has too much removal, too many lands or not enough Opts. Perhaps the singleton Spell Pierce to tilt opponents could become a random Cryptic Command.

Good to see you back. Without Jaces, I would return to either MBC + Lilly lists or the Anthony Build with Swords. He claims to participate in the next Modern PT.
Perhaps if Phoenix can take Vial decks out of the format, Mistbind Clique becomes good again. However, Vendilion Clique still looks bad against Phoenix deck (many redundant effects, plenty of Bolts, they have fliers that come back from the yard...).

I still love using Mistbind Clique and Vendilion Cliques as removal, so I think the gameplan is still solid. I dont like playing Jace maindeck in faeries myself, so Im on a different path than the yuta fan-clan, but a lot of his list has wisdom to it that can be applied to more aggressive lists.

Decks I have in my bag of tricks- Needless to say, someone who wants to play will probably have a deck UB/x Faeries UR Storm XURWB Affinity G Elves UW control
counter spell would help a lot and ill probably be playing a number of baleful strix as well if it shows up. Im more hopeful they use this opportunity to create new Fae outside of having to go back to Lowryn
Been trying a variation of Yuta's UB Faeries / Control. I've gone 4-0 and 2-0-1 (ID, lost the "for fun" match) at the last two events I took it to.
I've beaten 2x Tron, Esper, BG Rock, Infect, Bogles, and lost to Death's Shadow. I felt like I got lucky in a lot of games but the deck has a lot of play to it and I have a lot to learn.
here's my list. I'm open to criticism / suggestions.
The play patterns with Liliana were pretty difficult to navigate. She seems a little awkward in the deck. Should I cast my spellstutter sprite for no value and +1 or hold up the sprite and hope? I've played a lot of decks with Lotv but those decks played fewer instants.
The land base was difficult to manage as well. It seems like we want to shock aggressively since we have such high mana requirements. We also have a lot of fetches (if you include FoR) and not a lot of fetchables. For that reason I went down a colorless land for another basic but I think I might want a third dual land (watery grave, etc).
Spell Pierce / Spellstutter have felt really strong. I'm debating going up on either / both but too many conditional counterspells might be bad.
In my 4-0 I had +1 Bitterblossom +1 Hero's Downfall -1 Cast Down -1 Clique in the mainboard as compared to this list which was the 2-0-1.
I have a lot of Midrange / Control / Big Mana in my meta so any suggestions for sideboard cards / how I should handle each match up is appreciated.
those are definitely nice results so can't pick it apart too much there but i would say i dont like the ashiok, i just dont think it does enough in faeries where every card needs to have as much of an impact as possible. Id say go to a 4th spell stutter and drop ashiok to give them the most chance of being able to counter plays
Definitely some luck involved since I didn't play optimally - still learning the deck. But the deck sure put in a lot of work.
I hear you on Ashiok. They are only really good in the long grindy games. It seemed like the deck struggles late game due to all of it's early game cards (spell pierce / IoK / spellstutter). I'll also admit that it's a pet card of mine. Maybe either Liliana of the Veil or Last Hope is better as a late game grindy card though.
personally then id play 2 mistbind cliques. They're 4/4s and close out the late game relatively fast, plus are able to time walk some opponents, and can be protection against our own bitter blossoms killing us
I like the idea of a mistbind or two. Is there a rule of thumb for minimum number of faeries before this is worth running? I feel like my current 6 is too few.
i definitely dont have a "rule" to answer with, but personally im currently playing 4 spell stutter, 2 clique, 2 mist bind, and 4 bitter blossom, and then 3-4 mutavaults which are faeries when needed
Is there a place for Fallen Shinobi for us in the build?
It seems like a card that can see value. It has good punch and body, we can use ninjutsu to blink faeries, or snap
and get more value out of the graveyard?
And if it connects, we can to play with opponent cards, which could be hit or miss unfortunately.
What is the general consensus anyway on this card?
I'm wanting to rebuild Faeries, and I'm going to want to squeeze a copy of this in, maybe in a Mistbind Clique slot. i don't want to run more than one, but I think it might be great. This deck likes re-buying all it's creatures
I've only recently started testing with Faeries (and I'm LOVING it), but I can't imagine playing it outside of it being a fun card. Then again, I also love Mistbind Clique, so maybe I'm a little biased.
