I'm doing pretty well without either of those cards, though they will of course help.
On the subject of MTGSalvation's closure and what that means for the primer, I'll be migrating the information over to a Google document. Please be patient, as some reformatting will be required during the transition.
I went searching for an alternate forum and for modern, there really isn't a replacement. I moved my primer to www.mtgthesource.com, which is ordinarily aimed at Legacy discussion but they have an existing sub for Modern. I'm hoping we can all migrate to the same site so the modern traffic and discussions can continue there.

Thanks for the feedback.
So here's the list i'm willing to try tomorrow at an FNM (Beating them quick with Infect, then offering to test out the deck ;))
I'm torn between Revoker and Stony Silence, but I like the versatility and Vialability of Revoker
Land wise, I'm trying to fit in a cavern of souls or two, but the balance seems so delicate. Cutting Mutas maybe?
Retort instead of deprive since silans count is quite reduced.
I'm open to ideas. final test list will be locked in at around 8AM EDT
Hello, I'm retaking Merfolks after some time. Obviously I must update my old classic mono blue decklist. I have discovered a very nice monoblue, the 8-seas with Leylines proposed by Nikachu. (see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=luaqE_PBC7s )
Do you think the 8-seas versions could be really competitive or they are just an answer to the pre-eminence of Tron decks in the meta?
Thanks
Back from the FNM. Played against UB Fairies, Mono U tron , Blue devotion. New notes:
Unsettled Mariner felt bit lackluster since people would just end up play around it. Might want to play this along Curscatcheror or save the UW version for interaction heavy metas.
A few nice interactions happened with vialing Sygg and then activating protection against removal.
Didnt pulled any Teferi so i cannot gauge its usefulness.
Force was, as expected, great: beign able to tapout and then counter a T4 Ugin it where its at. Being able to answer EE was crucial too.
Manabase was fine. I played three blue decks so yeah i would have loved a cavern of souls or two.
So, not too sure what to think of this first run. I'll try the list some more online but i'm on the fence about mariner. If anything I might keep at least Sygg and the 4 wanderwines. I really liked this card.
Hi, I just started playing Merfolk in Modern. Rented a deck, played 20 matches so far on MTGO in tournament practice (14-6).
I have to say that I really like the deck! Answers to (almost) everything, awesome tempo, they hit hard and unblockable, they have mana denial and card draw...
Here's a game from a match I just played
Here's my current build
The only thing I don't like atm is that there's no way to loot away Vials. Benthic Biomancer could do that but I don't know what to cut. Without mistcaller it's hard to beat the many combo decks out there... Any ideas?
Sygg is your only unhelpful card, and Seas, Mistcaller, and 4th Dismember are all fine but cuttable. I don't play much anymore, but Phantasmal Image is supposedly good against Archon of Cruelty and Grief decks, and it still isn't needed, so while I doubt Mistcaller, it can also be swapped with Biomancer while Image trades places with Sygg and 1 Seas. Biomancer is alright, but it's not the end of the world to get stuck with a dud in hand. The deck makes up for that by having a ton of utility lands. Basically, your deck is cool as is.
EDIT: You've got your core (as I see it: Vial, Tide Shaper, 12 lords, Trickster, Svyelun), which is great, and then you've got "edges," like your Seas that give you an edge versus Urza's Saga, or all the different ways you can stop Ragavan. Biomancer is viable as an edge card, but they all come with a price. I believe the reason you see a lot of variation in lists, with 2 of this, 0 of that, is because the field is wide open and people are picking edges pretty much based on preference.

Aether Vial seemed to determine games.
Round 2 vs Living End 2-1 games.
Game 1, my opponent resolved Living End and won.
SB +3 Grafdigger's Cage, -3 Merfolk Sovereign (game 2.)
Game 2, my opponent explained how Grafdigger's Cage doesn't affect Living End. He couldn't cascade tho so I won.

Game 3, I Force of Negation his Living End and won.
Test vs legacy Death & Taxes, 2-1.
