I just cut a Stomping Ground for another basic Swamp and haven't tested it yet, so maybe I need another red source or fetch (I'm leaning towards another Bloodstained Mire). I've found Treetop Village to do a lot more good than harm as a one-of, so I feel like you might have been unlucky?
The sideboard is a recent creation and probably needs some refinement. Ancient Grudge was originally in my sideboard but I didn't feel I needed it. Out of Affinity, Damnation is better, while hitting Zoo and other decks that are faster than me. Grudge also doesn't hit Karn, Ugin, Ulamog, or Emrakul, and I have Murderous Cut and Liliana to deal with Wurmcoil. That's why I don't have Grudge in the sideboard.
I've been boarding out Looting versus Burn to gain me two life, so I don't want Gnaw to the Bone, so Feed the Clan seemed the best. Is that wrong? Should I have Gnaw?
Lastly, I've been on vacation so I haven't been able to test out the latest changes to this deck. If you drew the Nyx Weavers, how did they perform for you?
Nyx Weaver isn't a terrible card per say as it allowed me to restart the zombie chain! If you want to go the self mill route, Splinterfright mills, gets bigger and has trample, which pushes more damage through. But, Tarmogoyf is almost always bigger faster, and modern is a fast format, so you get where I'm coming from. Great for budget magic!
The Ancient Grudge help vs Cheeri0s, Tron, Affinity and any decks with Relic of Progenitus. Even though it's easy to play around, forcing them to crack it when you want helps keep tempo in your favor. Damnation is good, but it's mana intensive. If you're worried about the Affinity matchup, Darkblast always overperforms here.
I always prefer Gnaw to the Bone and Pizzap started the Essence Warden chain. One is a creature and one has flashback. If Warden sticks, I've seen it get close to ten life over a few turns and if Gnaw is cast after turn 4, it's gained me almost 30 life. Gnaw does cost one more but I like being able to pitch it to Looting and cast it turn 4 when burn is about to close out the game.
One thing I forgot to mention in your SB is Crumble to Dust. Fulminator Mage does the exact same thing for the Tron matchup specifically. Creature + cheaper CMC, so utilize these slots for something else.
I make my sideboard by taking the 3 most popular decks in the meta and 2 hardest matchups in general. I devote 2 slots for each matchup. That's 10. I incorporate some form of anti-graveyard hate and have a silver bullet or two.
For example: popular decks include: Twin, Affinity, and Burn. Tough matchups are: Tron and Uninteractable combo decks (Amulet Bloom, Scapeshift). Affinity gets 2 Ancient Grudge, Twin gets 2 Spellskite, Burn gets 2 Gnaw to the Bone. Combo decks get 2 Thoughseize, Tron gets extra artifact + disruption, so +1 Ancient Grudge, +1 Thoughtseize. This leaves me with 5 slots. I never leave without enchantment hate, so +2 Golgari Charm (also good for Tokens/UWx Control). I want one extra spot removal, so +1 Terminate (Grixis/Twin). Without thinking too much, Abrupt Decay hits a lot of problematic cards and is good vs every blue deck. Scavenging Ooze helps with graveyard decks and lifegain. The last 2 slots are always changing for me and depend on the current meta.
I am testing Nyx Weaver because it isn't Splinterfright and it isn't Eternal Witness: it's both. If it's unchecked, then I can exile it for a Zombie, than it, Gravecrawler, and Vengevines come back. Otherwise, better that than a Lotleth Troll or Vengevine.
I'm leaning towards Gnaw to the Bone because I run less creatures and other cards are sometimes a greater priority (Liliana or Inquisition comes to mind). I chose Feed the Clan because Jund was running it and I also board out my Lootings against Burn (a free two life gained from sideboarding!). Maybe it's an extra two life gained from Looting away two creatures and then Gnawing.
So if I can't beat Karn or Ugin, than is there a card I should be bringing to speed myself up (also for Burn). I had Bloodghast in that slot, but you don't like it and it hasn't been performing well for me either.

Just wanted to share my tournament report from Monday. It was a local tourney with approximately 40 players and 4 rounds.
Here is the list I am currently running.
Overall, I like the list quite a bit but I am considering swapping in Terminate for Murderous Cut as I find having too many delve spells can clog up the hand. I went with a more aggressive build (no birds of paradise) with minimal actual dredge.
Round 1 (1-2) Vs. BR Eldrazi Processor
This matchup was extremely difficult as the opponent had 4 maindeck copies of Relic of Progenitus and 3 Nihil Spellbomb. I still managed to take him to game 3 of off quick gravecrawler/ bloodghast beatdown game. One noteworthy play was cracking my fetchland in response to a relic of progenitus being exiled to exile all graveyard to retrieve my bloodghast. I didn't find that I had any SB cards to answer this strategy as the graveyard hate artifacts came down early and should be sacrificed in response to any artifact removal.
Round 2 (2-0) Vs. Grixis Delver
My opponent was running a very aggressive delver variant using bump in the night and lava spike. Game 1 consisted of a couple of Abrupt Decays to destroy his flipped Delver of Secrets followed by Vengevine beats for the win. Game 2 was solely won by Gnaw to the Bone being cast twice to keep me out of burn range.
Round 3 (2-0) Vs. Grixis Control
My opponent's list was a more heavy control list with the only creatures being Snapcaster Mage and Tasigur, The Golden Fang. I saw Kolaghan's Command and Cryptic Command. The matches were incredibly easy. I got Faithless Looting off turn 1 in both games. The opponent constantly had to use his resources to trade for my resources which could be recurred. When I suspected a counter was up, I would avoid playing a delve creature in case of Remand and would hold up Grisly Salvage at the end of his turn to draw a counter. Overall, both games were very easy and it was an excellent matchup.
Round 4 (2-0) Vs. Grixis Delver
This Grixis Delver list was the more popular Kolaghan's Command version of the deck. Both games for this round were very easy. I had an explosive Vengevine start in game 1 off of Faithless Looting. The Bloodghast entering the battlefield with haste was able to quickly close out the game. Game 2 Consisted of a turn 2 Gurmag Angler which was too large to be answered by Lightning Bolt or Kolaghan's Command. The games always felt in my favour, wasn't very close.
Overall, I managed a 3-1 record (7-2 in individual games) and only lost 2 individual games the entire tournament to the opponent who had 7 copies of maindeck graveyard hate. I know my manabase is not optimal as I need more fetchland and to get rid of the city of brass. I could use some advice for the sideboard as it was something I just put together before the tournament. I also really enjoyed Bloodghast in this list as it is able to take advantage of the very aggressive swarm strategy of the deck.
Any feeback is grealty appreciated!

Going 3-1 at a tournament is something to be proud of. With some minor tweaking, I wouldn't doubt you could go 4-0! Manabase, switch out the City of Brass and basic Mountain for 2 more fetches, preferably something that can get black. Verdant Catacombs is the best, but Bloodstained Mire is more budget friendly.
As far as the sideboard, that's really depending upon your meta. For me, I never like more than 1 Darkblast in my 75. Rending Volley seems too specific target removal. Terminate deals with every problematic creature I can think of (specifically Thrun the Last Troll as being a pain to deal with). Murderous Cut does the trick if you're budget is tight, but Terminate isn't terribly priced at all. Duress is amazing vs Burn and Combo decks, so I would switch out the second Darkblast for a second Duress. That should fix the really problematic matchups.

For a Terminate against Splinter Twin you need to keep up 2 mana all the time and murders your tempo. With Volley you can give way more pressure, because you need to keep up only 1 mana. As a bonus it can't be snatched by a Spellskite or be countered. Seeing his Gobrien's meta has a lot of Delver, it is also a good target for that. I guess it is meta dependent, but Volley is a decent sideboard card.
I only say Terminate because for the last few months, my big problem have been the Grixis decks with Tasigur and Anglers. Murderous Cut is cheaper on the mana, but the delve ability messes with my own Angler. I only run it as a one of, but it does a lot of work for me.

Hey Pizzap, can you give me the down low on Fulminator Mage? It was way overpriced earlier this year, so I never picked it up. The price has dropped by half, so picking up 3 might not be a bad idea. Obviously Tron, but what other matchups and how has it performed?

i like the ghost quarter because i see a lot of tron, mutavault lets me cast gravecrawler from the graveyard, urborg is nice in certain situations if i dont have double swamp. the problem im running into now is that i dont feel like i have enough dredge and that the graveyard needs filled faster. i also dont like scavenging ooze, relic or ugin, so im debating on putting pithing needle in SB.
I added 3 Fulminator Mage to my sideboard. I haven't played too many matches where it's been amazing. I tried using them in any matchup I could to see how they played (mostly against three color lists, and lists with manlands). It's definitely a good card to use and I like it better than Molten Rain because it's a creature and is easier on the manabase than the double red. So far, the priority is manlands (Colonnade - UWR, Ravine - Jund), Inkmoth - Infect, Tower - Tron, and the green source for Bloom.

Hey fellow dredgers, I've been a long time lurker so needless to say I read through this thread before delving into a vine project of my own. Before I get into specifics, I just want to start by saying this is the first time I have actually played this deck in person (have only goldfished and played around with this on cockatrice)and it was my first time ever competing in a modern tournament (have only played legacy in the past). I also want to preface by saying it was a fantastic group of guys at my local gaming store (Cloud City Games in PA) tonight who made it a great atmosphere to play in. From what I was told the turnout on Thursday's fluctuates compared to being steadier during the weekend, as a result, only three rounds were played. Without further ado, here is my modern tournament report from earlier this evening.
Match ONE: Mono-Green Elves
Game 1: On the draw, and simply put the elves always stayed one turn ahead. From what I surmise it was a pretty standard elf draw and game development. Mana dorks followed by lords and untap abilities sealed the deal with me very close behind. My opponent was adamant that I would have won if he was on the draw. In the end, I just didn't have any sweepers or enough blockers to stay in it.
Game 2: On the play, this game could not have started better. A darkblast in my opening seven cleared out the first turn mana dork. After passing his next turn I get my darkblast back and save it while continuing to build up my board through salvages and wayfinders. He taps out and plays a scooze, I introduced him to the darkblast trick at the beginning of my turn and cleared the scooze. With my darkblast stuck in my graveyard he proceeds to play an elf lord in which I cannot clear fast enough with my abrupt decay. This is the turning point of the game. Suddenly lord after lord drops and everything he has is out of darkblast range as I stare stupidly at two in my hand, apparently not hard enough to turn them into the gold I need. In no time I'm overwhelmed by elves and then he drops Craterhoof Behemoth to seal the deal.
Total Games Result: 0-2
*If you are wondering why I cut murderous cut: Against elves I didn't expect to get my delve count or essentially have enough time to play it efficiently so I figured I much rather see a blast or charm. Other than that, I am simply not sure how to sideboard properly with this deck yet so every game will be a learning experience (any pointers appreciated).
Match TWO: U/R Burn Variation
This opponent usually plays standard but borrowed his friend's deck for the tournament and did not have a sideboard at all.
Game 1: Opponent played 3 lands and 2 Goblin ElectromancerI failed to get much else going with Varolz buffing up Lotleth for the win.
With a quick victory I agreed not to sideboard this game since my opponent did not even have one and I just play for fun. I justified this rationale by telling myself it would give me a better chance to get to know my core 60. (Also did not know how much burn was actually in the deck)
Game 2: Outburned after keeping a very mediocre but playable hand, I was extremely close to hooking up the Varolz combo but due to potential misplaying or just wrong decision making in general I was a turn late and it was on to game 3 in which I did sideboard haha.
Sideboard: +2 Gnaw to the Bone (Can't remember if I brought Duress in or not this game) ; -1 Faithless Looting -1 Murderous Cut
Game 3: This game came down to the wire with me getting burned down to 4 life. Luckily the turn before I would die I close out the Varolz combo for the win. (1/1 blockers can't stop a trampling troll)
Total Games Result: 2-3
Match THREE: Naya Burn
Game 1: I mulligan a one land hand into a hand with 3 stomping grounds and the hope a wayfinder can save me. This game played out extremely odd for what is suppose to be a dredge deck*. Essentially by the time I come into black mana I am hardcasting Death's Shadows to give me blockers. I get my opponent down to one life (2 shadows and a hardcast vine) before a lightning bolt slips through to end it.
*The only card in my graveyard for the duration of the entire game was a wooded foothills
Sideboard: +2 Gnaw to the Bone +3 Duress ; -3 Faithless Looting -1 Grisly Salvage -1 Murderous Cut
Game 2: I keep the play and both of us mulligan to six. My scribbled notes from this game sum it up perfectly. "Gnaw to the Bone...Period"
Luckily I am able to draw into a copy and use it twice to get out of lethal burn range while attacking with 2 crawlers and recurring vines to swing for lethal.
Game 3: I kept the same sideboard because I have no idea what I would do differently. I mulligan down to six and keep a one land hand because it was approximately Swamp, Shadow, Shadow, Angler, Wayfinder, Crawler. My opponent mulls down to 4 and keeps a no land hand and is on the play so passes his first turn and topdecks a land his next. I start with a crawler, topdeck a forest into a wayfinder, and end up hardcasting a world of hurt in the form of 2 shadow's (since a few burn spells and my own well timed shocklands make them huge in no time). A vine or two may have recurred but the shadows were mvp this game.
Final Match Result: 2-1
Individual Games: 4-4
Did I play like the pros? Not quite, but the people were great and I had so much fun it didn't matter. A few additional notes to close with:
1. I had no idea what the meta would be like so my sideboard was completely guessed
2. My manabase looks like that due to budget reasons (Do I really need more fetches?)
3. Varolz package can pull wins out of nowhere, especially if the opponent doesn't see it coming (many times I would have a dredged shadow and then only cast Varolz when I knew I could scavenge immediately)
4. Shadow's are amazing against burn
I hope this post helps to continue developing this amazingly fun deck to play.
I openly welcome any constructive criticism, hints, tricks, or ideas to improve my deck/sideboard/playing.
For the sake of all things graveyard I hope that eldrazi is a phase the community will move on from. I can not blame anyone in this thread for losing to that deck.
Value is good. But Dredgevine isn't supposed to be about value. It's supposed to be about V-8; 2000 pounds of nitro boosted war vegetables. The more velocity, the better.

The new card seems useful, but I utilize Satyr Wayfinder and Grisly Salvage to hit my land drops past the second. As said above, Salvage digs deeper, which is what lets me delve a T3 Angler and cast something from the yard. This is just my preemptive thoughts, and I most certainly will test it. I'll post some results and thoughts after some games this evening.
Match ONE: Mono-Green Elves, Match TWO: U/R Burn Variation, Match THREE: Naya Burn
Welcome to the thread and congrats on your first results. Spellskite would be a nice addition to your sideboard. More fetches would make your mana easier and smooth sketchy hands or reduce mulligans, which no one likes to do. If you're sure Elves will be back, Golgari Charm has always been a good way for me to slow them down.

This matchup is awful. I played against it twice and won 1/5 games, so I will not be posting the matchup on YouTube, but it does feel like a fad to me and will fall off the bandwagon after an event or two.

Sideboard: +2 Darkblast +1 Golgari Charm ; -1 Death's Shadow -1 Satyr Wayfinder -1 Murderous Cut*

Yeah, the Eldrazi decks are super popular in my meta so I'll be playing Affinity for the next little while until the hype dies off. *fingers crossed that it does die off*
