I still like the 3rd basic land over the 4th Cavern of Souls and I don't mind a 1/1 split of Talisman/Mind Stone as sequencing a rock into a Bolt/Stirrings is very powerful against the decks that it matters against.
I've had so many opponents look at me strange when I name "Elf" for Caverns to protect my life total. Even at 20 lands and 3 rocks (one that can cantrip) I still have found myself too often flooding and no gas. As fun as casting Obligator is, I'm thinking about going back to another Eld-Variant.
There are lots of ways of fixing that. You could play more mana sinks like - Rhonas, 2x Wolf Run. Other cards like Mind Stone or even Nissa, Vital Force help to keep the gas flowing. This is my list:
//Lands
4 Cavern of Souls
4 Eldrazi Temple
4 Karplusan Forest
4 Grove of the Burnwillows
2 Kessig Wolf Run
1 Forest
1 Mountain
1 Stomping Ground
1 Wooded Foothills
Yes, and the deck had a good day two showing as well. Interesting that Hughes cut a cavern for a forest. Might have to try that mana base. Also went with finks over chalice as well. I don't have the chalices yet and I've been running Pulse of Murasa and Basilisk Collar instead.
I've been playing this deck online and it's seems decent so far. The thing I struggle with most is getting gas. After reading through the comments, I don't think Mind Stone should be below 2x as it's the only card draw outside of End Bringer. Are there any other ways to refill your hand? Has anyone tried mainboarding artifact/enchantment hate?
Also, what the ideal opening or mulligan hand? I've been aiming for Hierarch, 1-2 RG lands, 1-2 Temples, Obligator, BBE/Smasher, and a bolt. is that the right way to go?

I don't think that's something we want main board. This deck wants to kill thier opponent fast game one and bring in answers for what they are doing game 2 and 3. What artifact/ enchantment hate would you main out of curiosity?
Generally that sounds right, especially in the dark, but sometimes it depends on the match up. For example, bolts feel mediocre against jund but better against burn (killing thier t1 creature is a priority). Against removal heavy decks I'll value having reshaper and smasher over obligater and thought knot. Against combo I tend to go the opposite. A quick clock and bit of disruption will win ya most combo games.
Noticed the GP list is almost same to prior winning list aside from relics -> ooze/endbringer and the cavern -> forest. Part of reason for extra forest was likely path/BM as well as more mana for ooze. Finks in SB is interesting, it does kind of work with the theme of deck as an early value threat and against burn likely shaving the dismember for it.
Curious if Damping Sphere will replace Crumble to Dust in SB when its legal...both are searchable with stirrings and its both 2CC less and hits decks like storm. Negative is it does turn off benefit from Eldrazi temple and it nonbo's with BBE. Though with enough BBEs being played could be good tech against it too...
Not such a fan of a single chalice in SB as its a card generally wanted early and can't really control that. It also nonbo's with BBE too (unless you want it on 0CC).
Hi everyone, first of all I'm new to the deck and I moved from Eldrazi Tron (Eldrazi fan of course) to this deck with positive results lately. Posting a 4-0-1 I did yesterday in my LGS in a few.

I think I would exchange it for Grafdigger's Cage. It's like a Blood Moon card for everyone, with its upsides and downsides. I think that for this deck it will bring more advantage against certain matchupds than downsides. I'm eager to test it when the time comes, for sure.

I don't know if I'd want sphere at all. Crumble is game over for tron and valakut (if you hit it. Even not it buys a turn at least). Cage is great against coco, snap decks, and dredge. I do like it against storm but they will get rid of it before they Combo. Hate how sphere nonbo's with our own lands and bbe.
I have to admit, I had a ton of fun with a build using 3 Blood Moon sideboard and 3 Talisman of Impulse main. It has been singularly brutal against Control, Valakut decks, and Tron (Crumble is actually a little better against Tron, but only a little.)

So maybe I'm looking at this wrong, but I feel the decks adding Finks, Scooze, Hazoret, etc. are losing out on the primary strength of the deck, which is its raw power and speed. I understand how these tools help balance the deck out, but wouldn't reducing the game by a turn through efficiently deploying Eldrazi be better and leave the powerful silver bullets for the sideboard?
My list tries to push the tempo against other midrange decks, forcing them to inefficiently use removal (if they can), grinding them out of usable cards quickly while dealing damage. I tried to maximize 3 mana on turn 2 or 4 mana on turn 3 for Eldrazi by adding an Oath of Nissa to find ramp critters or Temples if I needed them on turn 1 much like tron uses mana eggs. It is also a fine 1 mana option to dig for late action. The deck has been a blast to play and I really want to get better with it. I don't have much experience against all decks in the format, but I've found that applying pressure early has helped me beat matchups I would consider bad.
I really want to improve the SB. I haven't had enough experience with Crumble to Dust, but the Pithing Needles are useless against PWs just because the haste creatures are so good. I have them in because Lantern is still a thing, and I'm terrified of that matchup. Shapers' Sanctuary is insane on turn 1, but I think it just helps already good matchups against grindy mindrange decks. I don't like a lot of cards in the SB of most lists because they are awful hits with BBE. I could just not play the cascaded spell, but then I'm not maximizing the elf when there are plenty of cards that can do the job just as well in this shell. RoP is over Graf Cage because the relic can at least dig if I really need to.
Thoughts? I've only been on the deck for a few weeks now, but it feels exactly like what I want a stompy deck to be in modern.
Oath hasn't been as good at Stirrings late in the game (obviously), but is still very serviceable. It does grab a BBE! I like to use it first early since I'm probably just digging for a land or bird.
Domri sounds like a more flexible Shapers' Sanctuary. It's probably very good, but what matchups is it actually helping in? Beast Within sounds interesting, but it's a little more control-ly for what I want to do maindeck. It is flexible enough to hit your own permanents, but I don't know what I'd do if I hit it off of a BBE on an empty board against blue decks.
Keep in mind my deck is 22 lands, 4 mana dorks, and 2 mana rocks. That's 28 sources for mana with 4 sol lands for most of my creatures and only 2 fetchlands. With expensive creatures on the top end and 5 cards to dig for them, it's surprisingly resilient to Ponza and Blood Moon decks. Additionally, if I untap with endbringer, I end up using that mana up.
I honestly haven't thought of the Gods too much. Rhonas can be cast with BBE or Reshaper, and gives creatures a trample & power boost effect that has been very, very good with Kessig Wolf Run. The problem is that Rhonas is not a land and doesn't attack immediately. Hazoret I'm a little more skeptical of since I rarely have a low hand total until very late in the game, when I'm grinding out with Endbringer(s) or World Breakers. If KWR is the equivalent of Rhonas, Hazoret seems like Sea Gate Ruins - just a little slow, but good for grinding if you ever get there. Hazoret is also about to receive a small nerf to PW damage with Dominaria.
I think I want to replace World Breaker with Rhonas when I get one and see how it is. Oddly, the reach on WB can be relevant. I also want to replace the pithing needles with basilisk collars to also help the burn and wide-creature matchups.
Anyone considering Goyf in the main instead of Ooze? we want to be aggressive and i can see 2 or 3 goyfs being more of a aggressive game plan then bird/ooze/reshaper. Also my experience with Ooze in this list is that we dont often have 'spare' green mana to grow the ooze. Every turn we want to put creatures in play.

i also can see trimming 1 BBE for a Hazoret the Fervent all death cards you draw can be an extra 2 dmg.
Not a fan of goyf in this deck. We lack fetches and discard, so we can end up with a bleh goyf that is just a 2/3. Heck, it even has a good chance of entering as an 0/1 creature. Scooze is always at least a 2/2 eats the graveyard, gains life (relevant for burn) ect. Personally I run 2 end bringers but to each their own.

I think Rhonas is better than World Breaker but still not quite right for this deck. When I've played him he's done some fun blow out things (stealing a gurmag with obligator & swinging for exactly lethal with him felt super good). However, he is a poor top deck when yer board is empty and can suck to hit with bbe because bbe doesn't allow him to attack. I too am skeptical about Hazoret. Haven't tried Hazoret yet but I could see running him if you have a blood moon heavy meta but otherwise I think we could do better things turn 3/4.
I've really love basilisk collar in this deck. It helps with burn and creature heavy strats and even things like jund. You opponent is a little less inclined to block a matter reshaper with their goyfs lol.
I'm really interested in testing beast within! I like crumble and all but sometimes it feels too narrow for the space it takes up.
Someone tested Boreal Druid instead Stone/Talismanv?. More chances to get a turn 2 TKS or Obligator but is weaker to removal in Blood Moons decks where we need colorless Mana.
