Hey all, new and updated burn Primer? Nicely done.
I'm starting to Jam this deck more and more, I had 1 PPTQ top 8 and began to look at this deck differently after I realized how important sequencing was to maximize damage output.
Shrine of Burning Rage vs Eidolon of the Great Revel, when is this card good? Is this a meta call? I have tried it out, and it's improved some match ups but Eidolon is so good against decks like Storm.

Just played a game against Scapeshift. He was at 7, I had a Boros Charm in hand, and a Machinations on the field with one energy in my pool. I passed the turn to my opponent. He cast Scapeshift and went off, aiming six triggers at me. I cast my Charm in response, let one trigger resolve (gaining an energy counter), and popped the Machinations for the win. He called me out for slow rolling--I call it making him commit to his triggers.
A quick note, even after he puts the trigger on the stack and assign the target, he only has to decide whether or not valakut deals damage once the ability resolve. So you should have waited until you get the 1st energy before firing the boros charm
Playing in the Louisville Open tomorrow. Got my list together, got some SB plan feedback from ElC and have my decklist printed and ready to go. Just need to copy my plans into my notebook to have w/me tomorrow. Minimal stress tomorrow is the plan
might you wish to include brandon burtons 1st place Indy GP deck list? https://www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/466048#paper this was obviously during wild nacatl times but still might be worth the inclusion?

Today I went 4-1 at my local FNM with my Mono Red Burn. Lost against my first opponent, RG Ponza 1-2, proceeded to beat the rest. I won against Lantern 2-1, Fish 2-0, Taking Turns 2-0 and Vizier Company 2-0.
The reason I play only 2 Eidolons is because I haven't been able to trade more yet. I'm definitely the full playset, replacing either Marauders or Hellsparks.
I really like Vexing Devil. Maybe 80% of the time it's a 1 mana 4 damage spell. I used to play 4 of them, but switched two for Swiftspears.
And for the first time I managed to cast Thunderous Wrath. I like to keep it in my deck, since it's only bad when it's in your opening hand (or if you're on the draw and happen to draw it on T1).
Congratulations on taking over the Burn primer, Mr. elconquistador!
Some time ago I wrote a comprehensive sideboard guide, but I didn't turn on comments.
Now I updated the guide and have enable comments, because I think feedback on sideboard choices is a good thing. Also, I formatted the guide to be in a printer-friendly format.

Super useful info there. Definitely printing this for future uses.
Yep this is useful in the link. I like seeing how different people side vs decks which helps open up people to more options/ideas/strategies/techniques that may not have thought of. Thanks for posting this.
Re: snow crow
I've had my fair share of vexing devil castings playing mono red. It was until I had games that any other 3 dmg spell off the top while I stare down a siege rhino or gurmag angler presenting lethal that I top deck the devil. That only had to happen a couple of times before he had to go. That 20% of the time when its bad costed me games.
as far as replacing dudes as you slowly acquire eidolons I'd say replace the hellsparks because with keldon marauders they are at least guaranteed 2 damage at worst.

Congrats on taking over the primer elconquistador1985! Glad I was able to hand off the reigns to you - It looks fantastic and very well formatted. Keep up the great work!
Seems like it's at it's worst point ever. Bad against Eldrazi Tron, Death Shadow. Bad against UW control.
Clunky at times because we can get constricted on lands and draw multiples. For now, I'm at 3 copies and running a shard volley instead.
Would love to hear everyone else's thoughts.
I'm not sure I want 4 in the main, but I really want 4 in the 75.
And of every card in my sideboard, it's probably the easiest to justify playing mainboard
Even against Eldrazi & DS, it won't be able to kill most creatures, but it will at least be able to do 3 to face (assuming landfall)
Likewise, while UW doesn't run a lot of creatures, it will still usually have snapcaster & wall of omen (& at some point it's going to start attacking with colonnades or gideons)
As of now, I still think it's worth leaving in the main, but I wouldn't be shocked if the next list to top 8 a big event skimmed on them

3 Blaze, 1 Volley is prefectly reasonable. I don't think I'd go below 3, personally.
It's not a major event, but an RW list with no Blazes in the 75 and 4 Palms maindeck won an SCG IQ. I don't think either of those are a good idea.

Mine are in my board because I literally just don't have the room for them in my maindeck. You definitely want 4 in the 75. My personal view is that you should play 4 or 0. It's the sort of card that's really at its best on turn two, to kill mana dorks or stave off aggressive creatures. I think you wanna maximize the chances that you see it.
I agree, it's not as good as it used to be, but I'd still probably play 4 in my maindeck if I had the room to free up sideboard slots for more situational cards.
My third test with Mardu Burn (gonti's + bump). SB changed to :
- 4 searing blaze (no change)
- 4 skullcrack (no change)
- 3 path to exile (no change)
- 4 rakdos charm (was: 3x wear//tear + 1x rakdos charm)
Not much to report.
R1: push opponent up (massive test 3-3 against rock -- at home it's something like a test of 9-11)
R2: bye
R3: 0-2 to Jeskai control (1st game: not enough instants)
R4: 2-0 goblins (rakdos charm 7 damage to opponent cuz he had 7 goblins)
So far 50-50 kind of matchups. May try something new and give the boros version of shrine a go, since I have a ponza/land-destruction/bridge/prison deck going around and other T1 goodness mostly.
I suppose blue instants we don't like that aren't counter spells exist, but I'd imagine most are just countering stuff, so Exquisite Firecraft is better. I'm not sure what the motivation behind Guttural Response is that isn't captured by Firecraft or "can't gain life", as you said.

I think Shrine is only playabale in an extremely slow meta, which you should already be able to beat by virtue of being a fast deck.
There's never a situation where I would remove Eidolon of the Great Revel from my deck and play Shrine of Burning Rage in its place.
Good call, thanks for that.

13th: http://sales.starcitygames.com//deckdatabase/displaydeck.php?DeckID=116086 RWg list, pretty standard looking outside of Guttural Response in the side. I'd rather just play Exquisite Firecraft, since you're probably protecting a finishing spell and Firecraft is a finishing spell with built in protection.
18th: http://sales.starcitygames.com//deckdatabase/displaydeck.php?DeckID=116050 RWg list, also pretty standard, though the sideboard is pretty silver bullet-y with all the 1-ofs.
Maybe for countering Sphinx's Revelation but I think Atarka's Command would be better in that slot.
