If you assume Jace is going to be everywhere, one option for beating it is aggro, and if aggro gets bigger then Bridge gets better. Of course, we can often just race other aggro decks.
Just started to play Burn actively again after a 9 months hiatus. The deck felt great. I remembered what bothered me was sometimes the lack of reach, but 2 Lavamancer main provides great utility from the graveyard. I'm tempted to include 1 Vexing Devil or 1 Flames of the Blood Hand also to provide extra reach. Otherwise, the deck is as good as ever. The Vantage playset is really making a great deal in terms of avoiding life lost.
I'm facing a lot of Affinity and Storm. Against Storm, what's your opinion guys on Rest in Peace vs. Nihil Spellbomb? Do you use other hate card against Storm? I have 2 Rule of Law also to really grind it out.
That said, I personally prefer to use Rest in Peace over Relic. It’s more expensive and can’t cycle, but I prefer just hosing the graveyard entirely instead of trying to figure out the best one time to do it with Relic. Relic can also force you to hold up mana sometimes which can force some inefficiencies that I don’t really like as much.
In the Storm specific matchup, Relic is probably a bit better though since you can probably hose their graveyard right as it becomes relevant to them and close out the game soon after. I find RIP more preferable against a more open meta though.
All right Ponza's starting to scare me. I haven't faced it yet, but I see quite a few people at my LGS playing it. On top of that, I'm very sure they're going to be running Bloodbraid Elf because it seems like it was made for the deck.
How do we beat it?

Land destruction is one of the best ways to combat us. It's why Merfolk and D&T are so hard. To be honest, there's not too much to be done about it. I would say, hope it doesn't get big and try your best.
2 boros with splash for destructive revelry in the side (and both had 3 bridges in the side)
1 nactal burn (that's been a while!)
Also 2 players were 8-0 after day 1 (1 was one of the boros list that made the top 32):
2 boros with splash for destructive revelry in the side (and both had 3 bridges in the side)
So for the past few big tournament, it seems like the best performing list have the splash of green for destructive revelry
Boros splashing green for Revelry as always been the best iteration of Burn. Nacatl Burn or some other like Mardu (which I love) are fringe versions.
Eh, I think it's the most often played version of Burn. I don't know that I necessarily think it's the best, personally. I'd probably put straight Boros and Mardu ahead of it, but that's just me.

theres also sacred ground but that would be a very lgs based choice or terra eternal but at 3, its almost too slow against them. they will most likely start boom braid elf again too
It seems that the Deck is pretty ok with Jaces and BBEs, at least for now.
Note that the build with Vexing Devil took 2nd place, while 1st place have no any devils.
Burn is one of the decks that doesn't really care about Jace. If anything, Burn gets a little better and will be a member of the contingent of the meta tasked with keeping Jace in check. We're already strong against blue control decks, and you should be ecstatic if they're tapping 4 mana at sorcery speed because they're doing all the work bottlenecking their mana for you. If Jace starts beating up on Burn, Tron, and Affinity, Jace will be headed back to the banlist after a very expensive experiment in Modern.

I'm sometimes running black for fun, so that's why I was leaning toward Spellbomb, but I usually go with Rest in Peace for the reasons you mentionned. I think maybe Relic could be a good one though to be able to use it early game.
For Affinity, 4 Revelry seems enough, but I'm somtimes tempted to try 1 Shatterstorm.
Hello everyone. I have some questions about mulligans and the scry. I find that there are those times when I go to a 5 or 6 card hand with only fetchlands for mana. If I scry a burn spell on top, do I just avoid cracking my fetchland until after I've drawn that burn spell? Essentially skipping a turn 1 play in order to guarantee getting another burn spell? What if I scry past an unwanted land on top of my deck. Is it worth it to hold off on a turn 1 play since cracking the fetchland might shuffle that bottom land up to the top?
I suppose this depends on the type of hand you have. Y'all have way more experience than me so I'm hoping for answers to common scenarios and which opponents your playing, if you're going first et. I could use a basic guide for this. My thinking is that against other very fast decks like burn and affinity, we shouldn't wait to play a spell.
Burn's turn 1 is crucial to winning, especially when leading with a creature. If you mulligan and you only have fetchlands in hand while on the play, still go through the motions of a scry, especially if your opponent doesn't know what deck you are on. Make your decision how you normally would as if you were to draw the card and then proceed to fetch away the card regardless.
There was only one time I can ever remember since the change to Vancouver from the Paris Mulligan I have played Modern Burn that I intentionally did not fetch away my top card. I had gone down to five and decided to keep. I was against goblins and on top of my library was a Kor Firewalker. The card was crucial to me winning the game so I kept it on top, played 2 fetchlands and cracked for 6 fetching 2 sacred foundry to play on turn 2, and proceeded to win the game.
What are our plans against Blood Moon decks? Do we just side out all (or most) of our white cards a go mono-red. What if there are problematic creatures to deal with?
I'm thinking about Mardu Pyromancer decks that run 2 copies of Blood Moon in the main. I just don't think Blood Moon is worth removing, or even possible to be dealt with. On the other hand, will they even keep Blood Moon in their deck or will they just side it out?
I just went 4-0 yesterday and played all against combo decks. I really enjoyed playing the deck and it felt great. I just need to tune my sideboard a bit, but the deck is doing great. Thanks for good content in the last pages, it was fun to read !
You will be perpetually tuning the sideboard, don't sweat that too much.
Glad you are enjoying the deck
Yes, I'm glad about it It's my third time on Burn (2013-14, then 2017 and now 2018), so third time's a charm. It's super fun with Boros colors and it's great in the meta now.
Hey uh, in case people skipped over my previous comment, what's the plan against Blood Moon decks? I'm not even sure if they're going to keep it main board, but I'm interested in knowing how we should deal with it.

19 lands
What I want: increase lands to 20 and add additional fetchland plus take 3 mountains instead of 2.
The question is :what land should I pick for a substitute?
