There is nothing wrong with your list. I would personally put in 2 Treetop Village, and maybe cut 1 Rhonas the Indomitable (but that's more of a personal taste), but other than that your list looks very much like a basic fetchless list.
(What do you mean with the Collected Company part? I'm assuming it's a typo)
Just a small tip: you can edit your previous post, that saves doubleposting!
And that's a good question. Most people play 21 lands (correct me if I'm wrong), so have 2 flexible slots where you have 1. Some people play more 1-drops (Pelt Collector, or if you play fetches, Narnam Renegade), some like to add more 2-drops in the shape of Kalonian Tusker, or go for the less used 3-drops like a single Groundbreaker to surprise your opponents with; I would say test it out and see what you prefer.
I personally just think that Rhonas the Indomitable can be a weak spot in our deck: when it's strong, it's really strong, but it does nothing if it doesn't have another (strong) creature next to it, and removal-heavy decks can use that to their advantage. And, like Treetop Village, having multiples in your hand sucks a lot.
And again, I recommend reading Card Choices in the primer! It will help you a lot with choosing the right sideboard cards after you know what your meta is.
I think two Rhonas is too much. Yes, he is strong.. can kill titans, eldrazi, and tarmogoyfs. But Rhonas is also a bad topdeck on empty board, and the opponent tend to kill everyone around him.. so that he can't attack and block. Just one of him is enough imo.
@ WLeohy: I think my first priority building a sideboard for this deck is having an out to Ensnaring Bridge. Without one we can't beat that card or the decks that build around it. Beyond that any mixture of graveyard hate, life gain, and "5th copies" of our main deck spells like Blossoming Defense if you want more pseudo-Vines Of Vastwood will do totally fine.
I haven't used Rhonas The Indomitable at all. Is he worth a look? Would the first copy be better than the 4th copy of Steel Leaf Champion? Even drawing two 3CMC cards feels clunky at times, and without one a Treetop Village or Scavenging Ooze plays the part. I don't think I want five 3CMC. I'll have to give it a try, though. Seems good in stalemates, and against the decks that play one big dumb thing.
This domri isn’t much better than first domri. Plusing doesn’t go anywhere if no cards in hand. Static ability doesn’t go anywhere if no creatures. It’s meh. Better than a lot of options but not worth going gruul.
What we need is a good god eternal rhonas. That is realistically the only card we could get for this set.
Yeah, God Eternal Rhonas is very strong and hard to get rid of.. but sadly too high for our deck. I use the 22 land version, and some games end win or lose.. I only have 3 lands in play. Can still be tested as a single though, for those who think they can reach 5 mana in their builds.
4-1'd the league I played this morning. The new mulligan rule is interesting. I like it for the sake of playing more "real" games. I beat a burn opponent while I was on a mull to 4 the other day, that was neat. If the new ruling in someway breaks a deck like Goryo's Vengeance or other combos, might have to re-evaluate our sideboards.
Round 1 against Mono Blue Tron 2-1
Game 1 they have natural Tron on T3 but only plays a Duplicant exiling one of my creatures. I Dismember it and smash for two more turns.
Game 2 they have natural Tron and a Walking Ballista to control the board until I'm out of gas.
Game 3 I lose to critters to removal spells and then smash out while they fumble with Expedition Map and whiff off of Thirst For Knowledge.
Round 2 against Infect 1-2
Games 1 & 2 we are both going threat for threat, super close interactive games. I cast all 3 spells I had in hand on the fifth turn to snag game 1. I put him on 1 life and he was able to save his Blighted Agent and crack back for lethal in the second game.
Game 1 there was not much fight put up, so much so that I sideboarded rather blindly it felt. Could've been tokens or Eldrazi or hate bears.
Game 2 I had to fight through a Kaya, Orzhov Usurper, a Gideon, Ally Of Zendikar, and a Lyra Dawnbringer. The game went long and I felt a bit overextended by the end of it but I hadn't seen any sweepers throughout the match and there weren't any to be found before the game was over.
Game 3 I got 5 power on the board and road it home with an Oxidize, Vines Of Vastwood, and Repudiate // Replicate in hand. The latter two countered his land searching trigger and killed his Primeval Titan when I attacked on my following turn. The Oxidize was joined by a second copy and rotted in my hand while I beat them to 0 life that next turn.
Not sure if the Amulet opponents board out the artifact against us? Seems reasonable for them to go for a more traditional ramp strategy imo.
I think I might change up my list to the following...
I used to rock Garruk Relentless in my sideboard all the time when Infect and Affinity were super popular. He seems great against Humans/Spirits etc, while also being a great threat that can be cast on-time against decks using Assassin's Trophy or Path To Exile. He also can kill Eidolon Of The Great Revel without triggering it.
Hi!
I've been lurking here for quite some time. My main deck is rUG evolve, but as it has had some rough times lately i've decided to try something different. This is sort of Gruul stompy, where i use atarka's command as pump spell instead of devotion. Maindeck relics and vines are there to hate the topdecks.
It's very much work in progress still, but any comments w'd be appreciated.
I was thinking we could use the new Blast Zone as a single. Adding one colorless land won't ruin the manabase, and it would give us maindeck removal against tokens, and some low cmc artifacts and enchantments.
cant hit tokens, it ETB with one counter on it and it does not say and lower anywhere on the card so you would have to do something to rip off a counter first to actually get the token off the field.

Do you have a sideboard as well?
And that's a good question. Most people play 21 lands (correct me if I'm wrong), so have 2 flexible slots where you have 1. I'll create a generic sideboard for you here:
2 Unravel the Aether
2 Relic of Progenitus
1 Scavenging Ooze
1 Thrun, the Last Troll
2 Pithing Needle
2 Life Goes On
1 Pulse of Murasa
2 Heroic Intervention
And again, I recommend reading Card Choices in the primer! It will help you a lot with choosing the right sideboard cards after you know what your meta is.

Domri, Anarch of Bolas
Welp if we were ever to go gruul in stompy THIS is a card for it. Good offensive static, acceleration and keeps counterspells down on vital aggro parts, and fights in a relevant and usable -loyalty cost. Might be a bit awkward with its timing in comparison but at least almost all the modes are relevant at some point.

Game 3 I mulligained to 4 and they had T3 kill.
Round 3 against B/G Midrange 2-0
Games 1 & 2 they had creature heavy draws both games, and I had double Dismember/double Strangleroot Geist both games. He got a Liliana, The Last Hope down in game 2 but I attacked it dead and played a Garruk Relentless who took over the game.
Round 4 against B/W Midrange 2-0
Game 1 there was not much fight put up, so much so that I sideboarded rather blindly it felt. Could've been tokens or Eldrazi or hate bears.

Round 5 against Amulet Titan 2-1
Game 1 I get a fast clock on the table setting up a pinnacle turn where they are obligated to play Primeval Titan defensively and I Dismember it, Aspect Of Hydra, and Vines Of Vastwood to go over the top.
Game 2 I don't present enough power. I get to use a Vines Of Vastwood to stop his Slayers' Stronghold. They played a second Primeval Titan and searched for a Summoner's Pact that same turn and I scooped it.
Game 3 I got 5 power on the board and road it home with an Oxidize, Vines Of Vastwood, and Repudiate // Replicate in hand. The latter two countered his land searching trigger and killed his Primeval Titan when I attacked on my following turn. 4 Vines Of Vastwood

1 Deglamer
3 Garruk Relentless
