vines vs blossom,
i've written about the historical advantages of vines before and in the current meta they are still irrelevent (for now), so i will ignore them.
over the last 3 or so year the meta has got faster and faster. we need to be in the 16 damage by turn 4 (20 life minus a 2 fetches and a shock) to realistically get lethal. to do that effectively we need to be playing as much creatures as quickly as possible on our first 3 turns and alot of the time we will have only singular mana to work with
now the difference between the two is this
1 mana vines
hexproof
1 mana blossom
hexproof +2/+2
2 mana vines
hexproof +4/+4
2 mana blossom
hexproof +2/+2 and 1 spare mana
the one mana mode happens often enough that the variance and to be an issue
stuck one one land
blossom is supreare
have been using 4 blossom and no vines without regret. Well, I do know that vines can be used to prevent opponent pumping their infect creatures.. but the meta here has changed, no more infect. And if infect does show up, I have two spellskite in the sideboard.
About the ooze. I think two in the main is still resonable.. with dredge and phoenix still being dominant decks in modern.
I think I like new green snake a lot, the more I think about it. It's an on-par 1CMC creature. It's a "4CMC" creature to top the curve, that gets around a lot of removal, like a bad Thrun, The Last Troll (but still a good enough card.) But untapping with it is almost like untapping with Chameleon Colossus, just a real game closer. Mana effeciency is one of this decks strong-suits and this plays into it incredibly well.
one good thing is if the snake is leveled up to 4/4. We probably won't be getting two for one'd while trying to enchant it with rancor, because it already has pro instants. One of the few things that can still two for one us is Diabolic Edict, but the snake would have to be alone for that to happen - and we are not even sure if people would be using diabolic edict in modern, as creature kill spells that target have more uses.
Savage Swipe doesn't seem very good. You can't pump you're own creature in response to take down something real nasty. It can never kill Gurmag Angler. It seems like solid SB piece against opposing wide decks like humans, which can be a crap-shoot match-up.
If we would use removal. I think dismember is still the best one, as it does not need a creature to kill something.

I don't see why you cannot pump your own creature before fighting. The 2 power pre condition is only for the +2/+2, not for fighting.

I had simply missed the fact that they are two separate actions. Thought this could only target creatures with power of 2. I still prefer Dismember, but this is the best "fight" spell we've got now.
Still hate sorcery speed. Modern needs answers at instant speed. For whitesplash builds the go to is still dromoka’s command. For mono green... I would use titanic brawl sooner than I’d use this. If I were to play a sorcery I’d still be looking at the hit-not-fight cards like Nature’s Way - can make Narnam take down Angler and live to swing and even block after.

Stony silence on a creture. Seems very good. But it will need protection.
Dang, source? Haven't seen anything about this one.
The new life gain spell is super cool. Not sure it supplants Life Goes On in our creature deck, though. A good counter-measure against Storm-like decks. Sure wish it was "target player gains..." to kill Death's Shadow.
The new Ouphe is a great sideboard card for us. Walking Ballista cannot remove it because it shuts down the ballista, but we still have to protect the ouphe from their other removal. Need 4 of this.. 2 for Stompy, and 2 for my BGx.
Given how much mana efficiency matters I think my artifact hate will be moving to a combination of 2x Force of vigor + 2x pithing needle.
Ouphe seems nice but I think our bigger threats are passive artifacts like bridge and chalice. Opponents will already be bringing in more removal so needle seems safer and also only 1 mana.
i will miss deglamer/unravel the aether shuffle effect more though
Its even better, get it early and affinity scream NOOOOO!!!! Since it does not exclude mana abilitys.
goves us a better chance against tron as well. shuts down their fetching tron lands with expedition map. Also shuts down their oblivion stone board wipe.

I personally tried it and regretted not having vines from game 1. It shuts out so much more than infect (like hardened scales affinity) and the extra damage on a single card is relevant (it's basically the same as having 2 blossoming defence on 1 card) for closing out the game quickly.

You can't spend mana to cast this spell.
Convoke, delve (Each creature you tap while casting this spell pays for 1 or one mana of that creature's color. Each card you exile from your graveyard pays for 1.)
You may cast Hogaak, Arisen Necropolis from your graveyard.

I have no idea whether this card is even remotely playable for us, but it seems hilarious if we actually can cast it. We need two creatures at the least to play him, but we normally have that, and it seems like a Ghalta that's easier to cast for us.
EDIT: I just read that this whole forum is going to close on July 8th. It's really sad to see this place go down after so long.

yeah, it's sad. One minor good thing is, I also saw someone say there will be a new forum where we can migrate to. I hope they will build it similar to this forum, and let us have these threads again.

Yea I'm not going to lie, I will be sad to see a few of the established deck forums go. Some people are saying we can just make subreddit for them but it's just not the same I feel. There is a lot of history on these forums.

We generally do not have the graveyard to support delving for that much. It seems risky at best, I think ghalta is probably easier to cast TBH lol. That said they are both pretty bad in mono-green.
