its tricky. playing flameblade t1 is usually correct if you have it... unles i have a hollow one in hand and faithless and SW... or an inquiry and hollow one... depends on the situation, but flameblade first cause he will swing for 4 turn 2 regardless, unless you think you can get 2 hollow ones turn one.
started playing faerie and it feels better than edge of autumn for sure... also, char_aznable also swears by grim lavaman, and it is counter intutive to bring it in post board, but it is amazing in this shell if he survives... vs small creature decks usually best.
I took BR roulette (hollow one) to the team open, and went 5-2-2 (team so not all matches finish) started out 6-0 in games ... felt a little underwhelmed with the random cards later in the day though as i had to mulligan a lot (17 lands felt rough) and had bad luck pitching free hollow ones also in the two losses...
kinda want to replace goblin lore. was thinking maybe some blue cards could be good... chart a course to negate the card disadvantage the deck has, magus of the bazaar is decent but slow option... are there other blue looters i can brew with?
That’s what I thought. 6-1 with chart a course list. Gives us stubborn denial too... Desperate rsvings is a good option too
...
Thanks for the info. Would you post your list for Blue and thoughts on White splash? Overall, I am working from BR with 2 Faeries and 3 Anglers (no Tasigur). Would be interested to see about white splash as one my my faves is Lingering Souls which is an excellent discard option and provides a bit of width and more fliers for evasion to get in those last points of damage or chump. I have been finding lately that the standard BR deck can just stall especially against go-wide decks.
Blood Moon or No Blood Moon I would like to get views on inclusion or not of Blood Moon in the SB. I have not been using the card, as I feel I would most want it for Valakut and Tron match-ups, but for those I can be successful racing them. I had a crazy idea to play Fulminator Mage to get a creature and deal with the lands, but too slow and not enough to hit multiple lands which is usually necessary against those MUs. Any thoughts? How many play Blood Moon and how many don't?
I don’t buy random discard as a reason not to play cards. We randomly discard everything. Hollow ones. Gurmags. Lands. Bloodghasts...
The random discard is actually one of things I like best about playing the deck. It's like rolling the dice. I used to play Slivers and Frenetic Sliver was my favorite - flip a coin to decide if a Sliver lives or dies!
Goblin Lore and Burning Inquiry are necessary. If you strike out with the random discard, no big deal. You can either bring those critters back or delve a giant fish.
OK, blue is officially on the table now: http://mtgtop8.com/event?e=18345&d=313879 (11th in a 325 player event).
Julian Grace-Martin was one of the first players of the deck. Compared to his first list -3 Goblin Guide, -1 Grim Lavamancer -2 Cathartic Reunion -2 Temur Battle Rage -3 Become Immense, +3 Flamewake Phoenix +3 Thought Scour +2 Chart a Course +2 Hooting Mandrills +1 Lightning Bolt, so it changed a lot. He apparently still doesn't like Flameblade Adept and random discard though.
I am surprised Chart a Course would be good enough to play in this deck and he plays only 2 Stubborn Denials (in the sideboard). One of the biggest things: no Blood Moon or any other land hate. I guess the plan is always to race anything.
I personally don’t like the Vengevine version. I prefer just straight black and red. In the green version, it relies on you actually casting creatures. It’s just a different deck altogether. No Bloodghast either.
Has anyone tested Prized Amalgam in the deck ?
It looked very good in the Mono Red version from MtgGoldfish with: Bloodghast, Hellspark Elemental and Scourge Devil to support it.
It was like "Dredge" on steroids, a much faster and more aggresive deck with resilient threats.

I feel like you’re better off just running Dredge at that point.
The hilarity. The same thing happened in the RG Super Vengevine thread, when people started playing decks that there 80% the same but tweaked to incorporate Hollow One ("HollowVine"), there was a faction of die-hards who fought any discussion of Hollow One infecting their precious thread because it didn't adhere to their vision of what their deck should be (not caring whether others were interested and thought there was actually a LOT of overlap). Now seeing the same here. Other flavors of the same fundamental deck get a little bit of discussion, and there are immediately people lining up to fight the discussion - not MY deck, not in THIS thread!
So the Hollow One thread doesn't tolerate discussing a deck that includes both Hollow One and Vengevine, the Vengevine thread won't tolerate discussing a deck that includes both Hollow One and Vengevine. I suppose they're forbidden to coexist by forumgoer decree.

The advantage this build has over "Dredge" is explosiveness and some resilience to GY-hate with Hollow One and Flameblade Adept.
i think the amalgam version could have legs for those reasons too..dredge really only has conflagration over that version...
vengevine is different because you have to build around it because it needs triggered with 2 creatures... thus the free creatures (bloodghast, and flamewake) that arent cast, dont work towards the same gameplan.... sure theres a lot of overlap, but Gx tron and eldrazi tron have a lot of overlap, but are quite different decks as well...
on a more relevant note, other than color splashes, destructive revelry 2x SB is nice sb hate-hate which i can get behind.
As described in the op, Bloodghast/Vengevine is an either or situation. Flamewake works out fine - it and VV are the two things you want to discard, and when you bring back VV it serves as the comeback condition for FWP. You meet the VV condition on the backs of 1-drops, 1-and 0-cost Hollow Ones, and (if you play them) net-zero-cost guys like Burning Tree Emissary.

i tried 17 lands, and i think 18 is correct btw.

Also want to test a white splash list but haven’t yet. Fit in lingering souls to negate random discard. Get wear/tear...other good SB stuff possibly
U splash is slower. However stubborn denial is so good.
I feel like souls splash is so minimal. Like in mardu pyromancer. It’s not even a splash really
