I tried the deck with 4 skelemental 2 unearth and 2 faerie macabre and think the looting ban is not a huge problem. Is a huge Card but only activates T1 hollow one with a street wraith ... Now with the faerie we do the same. The unearths and skelemental packs make deck more aggressive with more big threats ,and we can carry a full set of goblin lore and burning Inquiry, without be afraid of discard a big creature.
I tried a grixis version with izzet amulet and prizeds amalgam, but it's like a bad dredge... more midrange, it's not for this deck IMO.
Interesting. The Faerie aids against Dredge and other graveyard decks, and suits a purpose. Ill add that to a the list of cards to try.
I started off with prized Amalgam in a Grix. I totally agree it is a bad H1 design. With out Loot we are a slower H1.
It was very clear to me how we are easily a turn if not two slower than we used to be. I was not getting Hollow One until turn 3 or 4 at most, when normally I could get one turn 2 or 3. Not as effective later in the game I think.
Anyone thinking Thrill of Possibility may bring back some speed in the deck?
Been play testing variations over the last week or so and it just seems so slow compared to before.
Not many comments since the banning, just wondering if people have moved on>?
Tormenting Voice already exists. Instant speed does not help cast Hollow One, although it would be nice as a combat trick. This is the card I added 2 of in my deck, but I still feel it is too slow.
I guess that is true. I have not had much luck lately. I was crushed by burn, titan shift and split loss against dredge the last FNM I played. I ended up getting a by for the 4th round. I just cannot seem to get the clockwork turning until turn 3+ and by then, I am too far behind.
I think I will end up having to move on from this deck, my local meta does not seem to match it well.
I don’t think so. If we’re going to 2-cost discarders less efficient than Goblin Lore, I’m inclined to think the answer is to splash blue and go Izzet Charm. It draws 2 then discards 2 at resolution time in its faithless mode (compare reunion which discards two at casting time to draw 3 at resolution - one more card, but sequencing hurts) and also has two other modes (small critter removal or noncreature countering) that can situationally help us in a pinch.
What the opinion on Carthic Reunion? Is it enough to keep the deck serviceable?
Casual play wise... i played at most just 1 cathartic reunion... the pain is in the sequencing... also i went a more midrange path with karn, scion of urza... its partly to mitigate the loss of card advantage when we lost faithless looting.
