Unless I REALLY need that Izzet Charm online, I agree. Grabbing a mountain with a fetch just seems crazy to me! ;D
its not necessarily for the opening... its a finisher.
lets assume for the opening with all fetch lands in the deck...
Misty Rain = Scalding tarn
(both can fetch stomping grounds, breeding pool, and steam vents.)
at the end of the game... you have just scast scapeshift, and now you need 2 damage to win.
Topdeck = Misty?
Well do I have any duals left in my deck, or did I scapeshift them all out?
Topdeck = Scalding Tarn?
If I have no nonbasics left, I can fetch a basic mountain.
I agree a 3-2 split is probably best... but it can be the difference between a win and a loss.

There are only 2 seasons each year... summer and hockey, and summer lasts too long.
I've been testing it on Cockatrice; it's quite fun, consistent and resourceful.
I'm currently considering:
- Replacing 1 spell pierce by 1 Wipe away.
- Finding room in the SB for: echoing truth and/or sudden shock
Any comment, suggestion to improve the deck are more than welcome
Thanks in advance.

I am thinking to take this list to my next weekend PTQ, what do you guys think?
Do you guys think I need another sweeper (MB or SB?). That's my main doubt, If so what would you cut and what would you add? Firespout or another Pyroclasm?
Any comment and help is welcome! Thanks
List look good and pretty similar to mine, so no bias ;). I would got -1 Izzet Charm, +1 Pyroclasm, which is what I actually run personally.
What does everyone think of Gifts Ungiven in a RUG Scapeshift deck? I think it holds some potential, but obviously it lends itself to a more controlling combo. I'm interested to see what you guys think.
Any suggestions for improvement? In the 3 aggro matches I lost I kept finding myself a turn or 2 short of combo-ing off before the aggro deck just pounded me to death. Then again I drew 0/4 Firespouts against them so that might just be bad luck too... Against Goroyo's Vengeance/Griselbrand, I didn't leave counter-mana up since I wasn't expecting him to go off on turn 2 (turn 1 Arid Mesa, EOT crack it for Blood Crypt, turn 2 Mountain, pitch Simian Spirit Guide for mana to cast Faithless Looting pitching Griselbrand, Goroyo's VengeanceGriselbrand and go off). I didn't draw enough counters to counter through Silence in G2. Then against RGTron they won by Slaughter Games post board. Obstinate Baloth doesn't do a whole lot against an Eldrazi...
The 4 games I did win were against KikiPod, Junk, UW Control and UWR Flash. So we're good against control and bad against aggro.
@Damen: What would you gifts for? 3 spells and a snapcaster?
I was thinking about it in similar terms to Ritual Gifts. If your not familiar with that deck, it uses Gifts Ungiven as a way to add consistency and redundancy. The biggest difference is that that deck combos with a critical mass of rituals, and this one is basically a one card win condition. I think that the general gifts piles could include:
Ramp Spell/s
Snapcaster Mage
Scapeshift (if not already in hand)
Maybe Eternal Witness?
Something along those lines. I have to do some testing on whether or not it will work, but I think that gifts has some potential.
My thinking:
SB is tailored to my local meta which is NOTHING but Tron, life gain, infect and affinity for god knows why.
The reason I chose delvershift is because 1, I don't have goyf and 2 because one of the issues of this deck is that it has to build up to "crticial mass" to go off and that means durdling until T6-7 to do lethal. Delver throws in some early damage and provides a body to attach pike if things go bad with scapeshift. These things together mean that pulling off a t3-5 scapeshift can easily be lethal.
I'm still contemplating splashing white for access to path to exile and wargate though. Also might drop kessig wolf run and put in another land and maybe drop delver to 3 to put in a third snappy. But I'll wait for playtesting to do that! I really love how firespout works with delver. I can chose to save him if I have the right mana open!
So far worried about the aggor match up. I just don't have the same defensive capabilities without goyf.
Let me know what you guys think.

I tried putting Delver in Scapeshift a few months ago and it was TERRIBLE because Delver just did damage but usually didn't kill the opponent, and then you are left trying to find the 7 lands AND scapeshift in your super diluted deck.
In short, the reason why it's bad is that Scapeshift doesn't care about doing damage (well yes, gettting the opponent to 18 life, but that's usually automatic) so delver doesn't anything useful.

Yep. Delver was dead draws most the time. Not that great.
This is my deck. At the moment, I'm playing with two copies of See Beyond, but I want to change it for other card, like Coiling Oracle?, Lightning Bolt?, Firespout in main deck? I think the best option is Lightning Bolt (removal or direct damage to the opponent).
Regards.
I really like coiling oracle, however why don't you run cantrips like serum visions or slight of hand?

I see. Yah lightning bolt is really attractive in a zoo heavy, infect heavy meta like mine. But it's a meta call. Sometimes you really don't need it. I've decided to sleeve up scapeshift with black and I'm thinking of throwing in some terminates.

Would this deck be a good fit for a returning player? I'm back after a 15 year break and am having trouble finding a deck to play. Is the game plan here to stall with counters while you assemble the combo and then go off?

Pretty much. Playing permission early while ramping until you hit seven ~ nine lands and then Scapeshift, usually for the win.

First they came for the Cantrips, and I didn't speak up, because I wasn't a Cantrip.
Then they came for the Artifacts, and I didn't speak up, because I was an Instant.
Then they came for the Rituals, and I didn't speak up, because I wasn't really a Ritual.
Then they came for me, and by that time there was no one left to speak up for me.
