It's been a while since I posted my list. The metagame has changed dramatically since. Storm is no more. Now eggs are gone. Valakut is now a deck. Everything else is midrange. I am thinking to get back to trying this deck at some point. Unfortunately RTR block did not bring any goodies for this deck, IMO. Does anyone see anything?

Goblin Electromancer , but he just turns on their removal g1, and takes up valuable sb space g2. Prism works just as well, and doesnt force us to require a gold land or SSG.
and it only assists Mana Leak, Remand, Peer Through Depths, and Ad Nauseam.... and well, when you put it that way... He shines in a control build. Getting him out and him not getting path'd or bolted is the issue still.
Storm was the deck that held this one back. Now it's gone. I am afraid it's valakut this time. I mean their combo is 1 card, which they can play with counterspell backup. They also have a bunch of flexible stall/protection slots. Can ad nauseam be still better?

Duress would be a great option since it could remove their win condition as well as remove their counter protection. It's what TES uses in legacy as their sole protection (well, discard effects such as this and Cabal Therapy). The counter spell of choice for me is of course Pact of Negation... However I wonder how good Dispel would be since protecting your combo is your primary desire (since you'd hopefully be faster than aggro and want to protect your combo. Flusterstorm would be another potentially decent alternative with obvious weaknesses, but it would typically end up being at least a mana leak and would reach a little farther (knock out scape shifting going for and as early as possible win).
I dunno... Thoughts?
Edit: I looked into casting Angel's Grace in response to the Pact trigger and from what I can find, it's good to go and can happen.

Thanks for clearing it up. I forgot, its sitting at 0 life or ten infect you cant respond to!
I will post my list tonight, as well as a potential red splash build to get us brewing!

You can always respond just prior to combat damage being dealt though (;
EDIT:
Ok, I'm going to post my decklist. Give me any thoughts that you guys have.
1. I personally like the inclusion of Lotus Bloom for two reasons:
1- It can be used as a free distraction. They WILL counter it. It removes a counter from their hand as well as accelerating your deck. I feel like it's a win-win.
2- It speeds up your deck. It's free massive acceleration that increases the odds of a T4 blowout. With little cost to yourself.
2. I really like 1 Snapcaster Mage. It protects your combo from discard as well as being able to Flashback your win condition if they counter it. I suppose the small plus about him is the ability to give you an additional couple of turns potentially against infect.
3. I really like the land package that was run in the original deck. I haven't seen a reason to deter from it. I LOVETolaria West's ability to tutor for either Pact of Negation or Boseiju, Who Shelters All to protect your combo.
4. I have no creature destruction except in the sideboard. I saw no reason for mainboard when you're trying to outrace the opponent.
Questions:
1. Thoughts on replacing Phyrexian Unlife with more dig such as Peer Through the Depths or Sleight of Hand? I'm almost thinking that Peer is a better dig card than either Sleight or Serum. I've noticed a few lists that run more dig and I think it may or may not be a smart swap. Recursion is a beautiful thing in a deck and I want to maximize combo pieces.
2. Thoughts on increasing ramp? How often do people find that they are struggling for mana vs struggling to have the right pieces in their hands?
Figured I'd post this for you guys to go over as well:
A game at my LGS this past week. I brought a fun little deck called Phyrexian Grace that hasn't seen success in big tournaments in a while, but sure makes a splash among groups not expecting it!
Match 1 vs a Green Ramp deck running Elves and Eldrazi:

I use the EoT to fetch up a water grave knocking me down to 19. Draw a plains, drop it, and pass it back over. He drops a Boreal Druid and a forest passing it back. I drop a Tolaria West and pass. He then plays out a Quicksilver Amulet meaning that next turn is going to be fiesty. Sad for him... all three of my Lotus Blooms come in play and I tutor up Ad Nauseam and make quick work of his life total.
Looks like it was going to be another blowout game with a T4 win. Ends in a T4 win against him with him having Emrakul and a 5/5 Primordial Hydra ready to beat me next turn. Whew (:
Lose the roll and he goes first dropping a Celestial Colonnade. Drop Tolaria West and Lotus Bloom. He drops an island and passes back. Dropping the Watery Grave I had into play tapped I used Serum Visions picking up Ad Nauseam and putting 2 junk on the bottom. He assumes I'm playing Eggs drops a second Colonnade and passes back. I play Boseiju and he gives me the WEIRDEST look haha. He explains to me that I can't use it to cast Silence and I tell him I don't have that spell. He plays Ensnaring Bridge and passes back. Lockdown is so easy when you don't play an Aggro deck. Next Turn bloom comes into play and I put a swamp in play. Drop Bloom for white to and combo out on him. Game 2:
He forfeits stating he can't interact with non-aggro and moves on.
I win the roll and go first. I can tell if I accelerate properly this will be a good hand, but not knowing what he's running I drop Island first and Serum Visions to protect life in case he's burn. I draw a plains and burn the top two. He plays a Gemstone Mine and passes. I realize he's combo. It's time to outrace him! Another Serum vision gives me Simian Spirit Guide and I drop the Mesa so I can get my second black source. He drops nothing and passes. I get my Godless Shrine and drop Watery Grave passing back. I now have Pact of Negation protection with my last draw. He draws and passes again. I play plains pass. He drops city of brass and casts Puresteel Paladin expecting the win. I pact it. During my upkeep I cast Angel's Grace in response to the Pact trigger and then Ad Nauseam the win.
Game 2 Opening Hand:
Doesn't matter, he mulligans to 3 and forfeits.
I win the roll again, I was lucky this day (: I drop watery grave and pass. He drops fetch and passes. It's UR so I assume he's either storm, burn, or Control. I hope he's not burn since that can race me. Next turn drop Marsh Flats and passes back. He fetches up a Hallowed Fountain and I know assume he's control of sorts. He drops mountain and passes. I fetch up my own Hallowed Fountain. I drop Godless Shrine, play Pentad Prism and pass back. He Bolts me end of turn down to 18. He plays Island and go. Turn 4: Angel's Grace, Ad Nauseam (off the top!) and he scoops without looking at my hand once I draw my deck. He comments about how he hadn't kept any counters and wouldn't make the same mistake game 2.
He goes and plays Arid Mesa and passes. I draw a Mystical Teachings and wonder why my deck is being so nice to me today (: Tolaria West, Lotus Bloom and pass back. He fetches up a Hallowed Fountain. Drops Scalding Tarn and passes back to me. I play Plains and the Pentad Prism I just drew. He Spell Snares it and then fetches a Steaming Vents. Drops Colonnade and passes back to me. Drop a Sunken Ruins and pass. He casts Lightning Helix EoT. He plays Island and passes. Lotus Bloom resolves and he casts Remand on it. I cast Phyrexian Unlife and he lets it resolve after reading it and asking me about it. He plays Island and says go. I drop my Island and cast Ad Nauseam. He Casts Cryptic Command bouncing Phyrexian Unlife and countering Ad Nauseam. I pact his Command and he extends his hand.
4-0
I suppose the major thing to point out is that I only went up against 1 real competitive deck, but hey a win is a win... right? (:
Edit: Notes
1. I did not once need to use Snapcaster Mage. I didn't go against anyone with Hand Disruption though... so for now I'll keep him in.
2. Spell Pierce wasn't really useful, although I feel like it will shine in control matchups and plan on keeping it
3. The explosive power of Lotus Bloom was phenomenal. I don't think I would run this deck without it.
4. Make sure every land that I can fetch has black in it. Tempted to add a second Godless Shrine and take out Hallowed Fountain.
You can always respond just prior to combat damage being dealt though (;

You need to find a replacement for Flusterstorm since it's not legal in Modern.
Gah, I always mix that up. It's Spell Pierce. Spell Pierce.
I feel like it's essentially a Mana Leak against those cards that are going to be threats against you since control is going to leave up about enough to cast their counter spells and Scapeshift is going to try and combo at an earlier stage than later stage so they don't lose control of the game.

grats on the list working for you! Everyone at my shop plays real tier (mainly control) decks, mostly T1, so control is working better for me. Like I said before, I'd always run lotus bloom g1 if this wasnt a thing. Plus, Stony Silence is a thing, and popular here, so relying on bloom in g2 and 3 isnt my favorite. However, Tolaria West as a 1 or two of, with Bosejiu may be just what im looking for.
In addition, I do run 4 unlife. I may come down to 3. Some games they ate up my hand. Others, copies came in handy.
My problem with lotus bloom is that it's only good in the opening hand, meaning you will go off turn 4. It's a terrible draw any time after that.
I completely agree, well... and would just pipe in that it's a decent turn 2 drop as well. My issue with not running it is that this deck is a combo deck. If the game goes midgame or goes grindy... odds continually diminish your chances of winning. Running bloom I feel helps make it not do that as much.
I suppose the other option is to run more counter protection in place of the bloom and aim for a turn 5 win every game with land drops and banking on at least 1 accelerator by then?

Ive done it the controlling route and won t4 plenty of times. Pentad prism and a fourth ssg help. But youre correct in that most of the time its t5
T2 pp
T3 unlife
T4 adnauseam
Or t3 pp(from t2), ssg, angels grace adnauseam which ive done before. (Its rare and requires 4 cards.
The controlling route also allows us to play tempo and make those essential land drops and buy us time in case we can find ad nauseam. (Witch is why i personally run 2 brainspoil as backup)
Although probably just jank, Sage of Epityr might help my infect/aggro matchups running the control build in place of our one mana cantrips. The obvious disadvantage is it doesnt give us CA. The advantage is we dig deeper, and can shuffle away unwanted cards.
So good news is, with eggs banned, we dont have to worry (as much) about stony silence, which hits lotus bloom and coalition relic. But be careful of more mindbreak traps for breaking//entering and combo elves.
It doesn't deal 3 damage per discarded land, the spell builds and builds until no lands are played and then the dam bursts dealing all the damage at once to a single source.

I just got an e-mail from Cardkingdom.com with this lovley deck. Seems pretty good, but I don't see how you get Conflagrate into your graveyard in order to use the discard effect.
"Did you actually think Wizards could ban all the combo decks? They keep banning and we just keep moving down the list. Johnny never let a few bans stop him. For that matter, neither did rock2011 who dusted off this Ad Nauseam brew and nonchalantly 4 – 0ed a Modern daily.

I suppose the major thing to point out is that I only went up against 1 real competitive deck, but hey a win is a win... right? (:
Edit:
Notes
Modern Warp / UR Control / UR Storm / Naya Breachshift / ElectroBalance
Solidarity / Lands / Sneak and Show / Grixis Delver / Reanimator / Belcher / Storm / Dredge
You need to find a replacement for Flusterstorm since it's not legal in Modern.

Pyroclasm too, yes. Theyre the honest to god worst matchups. Youve gotta keep fast hands or ones with removal and tutors

The crux of the combo is to resolve a Phyrexian Unlife or Angel’s Grace followed by an Ad Nauseam. Since Ad Nauseam causes life loss and not damage, Phyrexian Unlife won’t give you poison counters as you literally draw your entire deck. Then simply exile a couple of Simian Spirit Guides for mana and discard your gigantic hand for a lethal flashback of Conflagrate. Enjoy!
