Without the shocks and fetches things get harder... fetches are particularly useful against Blood Moon decks. You probably cannot afford to run Sculler in a build without these lands. Maybe you build it like this:
You're quite light for T1 IoK or Thoughtseize like this, but should be OK for most of your other spells. This deck doesn't always have a lot to do on T2 anyway, which is the curse of Orzhov Midrange, unless you're playing Dark Confidant. My first priority here would be getting the Godless Shrines and replacing the Temples of Silence and maybe a Vent.
I appreciate the advice, I'm definitely looking to pickup the Godless Shrine's asap. Until then would I be better off running something like Kitesail Freebooter or Brain Maggot over Sculler? Or is Sculler just so much better that it's still worth running even with the color consistency issues?
I don't think it's that simple at all. Take the colorless eldrazi stompy deck -- it's obviously good, but until it took 1st it had flown somewhat under the radar. This deck is fun, effective, but is mostly under the radar as well. Modern is format with so many great decks, not all get the attention they deserve. It usually takes something like winning a major tournament to get it noticed. This deck has hand disruption, creature removal, MB graveyard hate, and all while still packing major board threats (which I might add, take advantage of that same removal/hate). It's a powerful deck that I fully expect will get its moment to shine sooner or later.
After a long time playing Death and Taxes, I intend to come back to BW processors. The metagame seems good for us, with lots of creature decks we can prey on. Also, our worst matchups, tron, valakut and perhaps storm, are now more manageable with the printing of damping sphere and the new Mana tithe artifact. Could this be the time for BW to shine?
Dampening sphere is a bit of a nonbo with eldrazi temple. After playing this deck for a while and testing out different things a playset of displacer is almost necessary what makes this deck so good is its etb effects and blinking tidehollow or tks on draw steps is just gas. Also as far as sideboard tech because of this I think that orzhov pontiff is just straight better than zealous persecution. I've even been testing out ravenous chupacabra as a sideboard card just for another spot of removal and it performs insanely well
Hi, i'm building my BW Eldrazi Processor and i have a doubt about Lilian of the Veil, what about to run 1 copy of her on MD ?
Anyone have an idea why this deck is not popular ? it's seems pretty strong to me
The reason I think that deck is not that popular and powerful is because it lacks its own impactful 2 drop that is just raw power and not cutesy. Yeah tidehollow/kitesail are fine, but they can be too cutesy and can be crushing topdecks. I'm now on 2 kitesail freebooter and that is max I'll ever play. I've tried everything from bitterblossom, to matter reshapers to collective brutallity. Nothing does the trick. Gonna do some expirimenting with a 2/2 split of Kitesail, Displacer and if that doesn't work im just doomed to 2 kitesail 2 brutallity untill we get stoneforge.
I would play mutavaults if I didn't already have all 8 colourless lands taken. I really like the basic waste and with it I have to run Field of ruin.Thought recently i've started siding out all TKSs and Smashers again blood moon decks so I might have to try mutavaults again.
I've used to play Tidehollow, but the mana just doesn't work. Way too often you get stranded without second coloured source or need to play 2 coloured spells with a colourless land. So I switched to Kitesail but I really don't wanna play more than 2.
Stoneforge would benefit us the most so I hope it ever gets ubanned. Untill then just small tweaking. Will try 4 mutavauls one day.
Post here after you try 4 mutavault in ur MD, please. I'm thinking to get 4 copies. Matter reshaper to card advantage is a bad idea ?
I.E: 4x Matter Reshaper, 3 Reality Smasher, 3 Wasteland Strangler, 2 Displacer, 4 TKS and some copies of Kitesail.
Reshaper is not good. Would never play 4 copies. Maybe replacing displacer if you are excpecting a lot of bolts. Also I wouldn't recommend not playing 4 ofs, specially not important card like reality smasher.
Here is what I'll be taking to Modern Monday.
Changes from previous week when I went 3-1.
-2 Shambling
-1 Wastes
-2 Field of Ruin
- Vault
+4 Mutavaults
+1 Concealed Courtyard
+1 Plains.
And - Brutallity
+ Cast down.
Would rather have 4th marsh flats instead of concealed but I'll live, playing extra plain to be better vs blood moon since im losing field and wastes. Ill also sideboard TKS and Smasher out more agressivly vs bloodmoons maybe all 8 out.
Moving CB to sideboard and replacing Ob nix with blight herder. As I said previously would way rather play Elspeth instead of blight herder and another CB instead of Blessed Alliance but I'll live as I sold those cards since I had foils.
Will report.
Hello again.
I build my BW around my meta, here i have only 10 types of decks:
Tron, Jeskai, burn, goblins, RW DnT, BW Tokens, Jund, Merfolk, Infect, Affinity, Mono G Stompy.
So, based on this meta, i'm thinking to cut all the relics or using only 3.
I took this with 2 different sideboard cards. Ended up running 2 herders in sideboard.
Round 1 Uw control.
Game 1 I have him on 5 with a land in hand and no collonade. Smasher in play. He goes JTMS into brainstorm into path. My next draw is a land and he runs me down with JTMS and card advantage.
Game 2. I land turn 2 bitterblossom and that is usually game over for U/W. I end up casting 2 blightherds have a mutavault in play. Cryptic tap your attackers ok activate mutavault take 2. This happens 4 turns in the row, but it doesnt matter. He runs out of cards without even being able to stop my board and dies. Not close.
Game 3. Repeat of game 2 but he cast 2 detention sphere and 2 terminus and 2 verdicts so my bitterblossom got me to 6. He is super dead and everyone is watching. I have souls in graveyard, 4 bitterblossom tokens and 2 souls tokens and 3 lands in hand. He has a collonade and 7 lands. He is on 1. Everyone is watching the game. 30+ cards and only 1 terminus left. Miracle terminus, get you with collonade puts me to 2. Bitterblossom to 1. I have 4 smashers and a collective brutality to draw. Nope. 1/30ish to hit the terminus or he lost. Oh well gg no re.
0-1
Round 2 vs tron. 1 out of 28 decks. Oh well.
0-2
Round 3 8 rack. Mutavault performs once more.
Game 1 he lands a bridge and grinds me down, nothing I can do.
Game 2 I mull to 6 but keeps 2 temples, swamp and a smasher and 2 random cards.
I play nothing untill turn 3 when I land a smasher. 2 attacks he is to 10. But a bunch of discard and 3 racks gets me to 8. I'm still winning the race but he can land a removal and the game would be over. Nope I topdeck 2nd smasher and finish him.
Game 3. I played only 3 lands and a Bitterblossom.
Turn 2 bitterblossom into mutavault. He smallpoxes my 2nd land to activate the mutavault so I just play another land. I win with 4 cards in hand while he gets killed by fearie tokens and mutavault.
1-2.
Round 4 temur delver. Not even close.
2-0.
2-2.
The tuning is complete. With Utter End now in my sideboard over anguished(3 life hurts) I'm happy. This was some really bad luck to 2-2. Bitterblossom and blightherder is amazing vs grindy matchups. Honestly, who cares about field of ruin I can't beat tron anyways, and in the grindy matchups mutavault is better even if they have manlands. I'm taking this to PPTQ in 2 weeks. Dissapointed with 2-2 but after 4 weeks of 3-1 or better, sometimes bad luck has to happen.
yeah.. sometimes bad luck happens.
I liked ur side, but what about Gideon, ally of zendikar ? Bitterblossom just destroy all controls i agree.
Another tought, i'm thinking to cut all the relics to discards or matter reshaper. We can activate the processor with TKS, path and Tidehollow/Kitesail. Because most of the matchups, relic is a dead draw, what about it ?
I really like the relics. I used to hate them, but now even in the matchups where they do nothing, there is a card thats usually worse. I do side em out vs infect, burn, elves and decks like that, but having relic to give you a better chance game 1 vs control, hollow one and goyf decks is really valuable, even if goyf decks are a good matchups. I used to play a lot of Gideon, but bitterblossom is 2 mana and goes under counterspells often. Anyway I'm gonna test one sorin in the maindeck next time. Still not sure what I'll be replacing. Maybe 1 displacer. Not only is it gonna make bitterblossom better but also Kitesails. Might also replace one mutavault for the vault of the archangel, so I have 2 lifelink sources.
@renanymt I have celestial purge and Utter end exactly to deal with eldrazi tron and planeswalker. Thinking about replacing Celestial purge with maybe something more consistent. Maybe 2nd utter end or cast out, since the cycle prevents one of the cards being dead.
I really like vault the archangels, it's a good tech card, the deathtouch and lifelink effect sound good.
I've played the deck for quite some time as well. It's nice to see some activity here again. BW Eldrazi will always be my pet deck, also foiled it for about 60%. I like the diversity, the angle, and that it's always under the radar. People also have no clue how to board against BW Eldrazi. It's been a while since I've played it though as I picked up Burn and I played that for like a year straight now. Yesterday Burn failed me on WNM, losing against UW and Spirits, so might even take BW to the PPTQ coming Sunday.
Sorin wins you games big time. His +1 is nuts. It's good when you've gone wide with Souls/Scions, but also a 6/5 lifelink trample Smasher does a lot of work. I've always played 1 or 2 main.
I dislike Eternal Scourge, it's a fun trick, but that's that. It has no value and is mostly ignored, and all other creatures either do something, or are bigger than he/she/it is.
I think Displacer is out of place in this deck. Its place is in BW Eldrazi Taxes where it has much more effect with blinking Blade Splicer for example.
My creature base has always been 4 Strangler, 4 TKS, 4 Smasher, and then 4 Reshaper or Tidehollow Sculler, just what I felt like. Reshaper replaces itself if not exiled, can ramp you when a land is revealed, is a blocker, can be cast turn 2, etc.
I don't think the deck has any issues in the current meta. In my opinion it eats other midrange decks alive. Aggro is pretty decent due to our creatures providing more value and are bigger than theirs. I can see a problem with KCI, but if your discard and relics come on point they can be stopped as well. It may even be a good choice for coming PPTQ. I would need to do some changes though as my list hasn't been updated since like Amonkhet. Cast Down would indeed be a nice addition and I see people playing Kitesails nowadays.
Played this deck at WNM and ate all the mid-range decks alive running Rakuto's list. Felt really good. I've been sour on Tidehollow for a while and have been meaning to try Freebooter. It was fantastic in my games. I missed not getting value though if I had a lot of Mana and a Displacer out.
I like that the list ran some Displacers since that card is a fantastic late game draw.
Ended up 3-1 losing to Mardu on some rusty play.
Cast down also felt really good with the current meta. Was able to remove things when a push would have been a dead draw. Specificly Hollow One or Depve Fish.

Do you have a latest update of the list you played?
What does Thalia do that Displacer doesn't? There's no land destruction and mutavault was the only utility land I was running. Turn 3 Thalia against humans maybe but I feel like the repeatable flicker and tap is too important.
You have a list floating around? I didn't play against UW control so I wasn't a huge fan of the mutavaults. I may cut 1-2 for a sea gate.
I think I'm going to toss rest in peace or a cage in the board. I can get a list up but I think you've turned more than I have. Is your list on TappedOut up to date?

Stoneforge on BW Eldrazi ? Sounds funny ahahhaa.
What other creatures u have in your deck ?
What u say about 3/4 mutavault rather than shambling vents ?
this sideboard looks like mine, but i play Settle.
IMO, BW eldrazi is very funny to play, the most players don't like to play against it hahah !

here is my decklist now:
4 Mutavault
4 Caves of Koilos
3 Concealed Courtyard
1 Marsh Flats
1 Godless Shrine
1 Fetid Heath
2 Ghost Quarter
1 Plains
1 Wastes
2 Swamp
3 Reality Smasher
4 Thought-Knot Seer
4 Tidehollow Sculler
4 Wasteland Strangler
2 Eldrazi Displacer
4 Path to Exile
2 Fatal Push
3 Inquisition of Kozilek
2 Collective Brutality
4 Lingering Souls
3 Relic of Progenitus
1 Sorin, Solemn Visitor
sorin is amazing against certains decks, collective is a god card against burn, goblins and infect.
yeah.. sometimes bad luck happens.

Have u see this list ?

I kind like this list, but i disagree with ratchet bomb and dismember and also i like Eldrazi Displacer because of the blink.
Try one copy of Sorin, u will like it very well ! and his ultimate is GG !
I was looking and found a really great card against control, Eternal Scourge. We can exile It easy with relics and cast It infinity times
