With dredge and other graveyard decks being at such a high now isnt 4x leylines appropriate now? Trophy makes it so that you can probably cut to 2x fulminators. 2x anger of the gods also seem like a good idea between all these aggro decks and dredge.
I've been on a hiatus but just my observation of where the meta is going.
oh wow, spsiegel is back, you were long gone my friend
I am definitely not against 4 leylines. Its the best option against dredge for sure. I just think the modern format is still too wide open so that I personally want more flexible tools. However, like mentioned, 4 leylines is definitely not wrong now.
Yeah Aazadan actually toyed around with it and the card itself seems really strong. However, it requires an investment as it does nothing the turn you play it pretty much. Its a high risk high reward kinda thing.
4th trophy can be used in the side yeah. However, I think just 3 in the 75 is also more than fine.
It could be used primarily for the fair decks in the side.
Is nissa worth a spot in the side? I feel like junds midrange control bomb side cards always just feel ok. Angrath looks too weak on paper.
I imagine with how the meta looks I'd make something like
[Sideboard]
4x leyline of the void
2x anger of the gods
2x collective brutality
2x kitchen finks
2x fulminator mage
1x nissa, vital force
2x ancient grudge
[/sideboard]

Yeah I think that looks decent. Nissa has been amazing from my testing, I totally recommend her.
Since I haven't really played the matchup enough, how extensively do we have to sideboard to beat dredge now that it's newly empowered? Are we at a state where 4 leyline is mandatory?

looting/grim flayer and leyline are great. but without looting/flayer u risk losing some percentage when topdecking. its better to go nihil spellbomb.
but right now im in the looting camp. I find you can keep 1 land hands and this come to play when you get hands with leyline and 1 land. you can get out of it quickly.

Thank you. Slowly contemplating playing again.
Kalitas seems a little slow, no? He feels like one of those cards that should either be in the main deck or not in at all.
With how huge aggro had become why not 1 or 2 grim lavamancers in the deck?
Last FNM, I played Storm round-one. Holding Maelstrom Pulse gave me a real warm, fuzzy feeling all game. He finally played Empty the Warrens; I just showed him the Pulse. Scoop.
Full disclosure does require that I had pretty much the same feeling game two drawing Golgari Charm.
So in a post-trophy world, I have no idea what to do about the 2-3 land hate slots in the sideboard. I'm thinking I should just leave in the two fulminators because they can fight control, but I'm wondering if trophy is enough on it's own to help slow down tron and help us turn the corner. Does trophy let us shave fulminator to help other matchups? Lend me your thoughts fellas.
2 Fulminator is fine, but I would not cut him completely. Like you said its a great tool for control, which we need to beat also. I have also settled for 2 copies at the moment.
I was skimming the pages. Was anyone playing with frenzy on the sideboard? I imagine it wont cut it but am curious
I've been playing it mainboard in my 4 CMC slot. I would recommend against it in the sideboard, it probably doesn't seem like it at first glance, but the card is very much a build around so if you're going to play it, there's a lot of aspects of the deck that you need to optimize for it.
As far as power goes though, the card is definitely powerful enough for the deck/format.
I thought I posted this as a response already but I guess I didn't send....
Do any of you feel like Leyline of the Void might be a trap? The dredge decks seem to be packing a ton of anti-hate (4 Assassin's Trophy and 4 Nature's Claim) in the sideboard.

It's possible. Faerie Macabre might be a better option. It's harder to interact with, there's some recursion potential, and if for some reason you don't need it, you can cash it in for some extra power.
So if you are on the Leyline plan, do you bring it in against control because of Snapcaster Mage and Search for Azcanta? Against UW Control if you run Surgical you can hit Terminus, with Nihil Spellbomb you can wipe their GY out in response to a snapcaster mage, but what about Leyline? Does it fit in against UW and Jeskai Control?
I dont think you're bringing leyline in against UWx control. It doesn't hurt them enough to be worth the opportunity cost.
Dont bring surgical in against fair decks. Stop. I dont want to be harsh, but surgical is probably the card most overboarded in modern. Nihil spellbomb replaces itself so it is reasonable to bring in against fair decks as some splash hate to slow them down.
As a general rule: Surgical and Leyline are only good if your opponent isnt playing fair.
Seems like they could seriously dilute their deck with bringing in all that hate.
4x leyline and 2x angers, along with 3x scooze seems like it could be winnable. Unless 3 surgicals and 1x spellbomb seem like enough
The few Dredge pilots I had convos with basically said that they don't necessarily bring all of it in. They guage how much they need based on the matchup. We're the ones who have to play around what they're doing anyway so I feel like we're at a disadvantage.

It has enough utility against the flavor of the month, dredge. And it's not bad against Mardu, kci, maybe hollow one and some other fringe decks.
Depending on how poorly tron is against the new dredge I think I see tron ticking down a little.
