Hey guys. I thought of something silly. Running UG elves with tamiyo. Whatchyah think? Tamiyo's minus two with a bajillion tapped elves just seems silly. Could be some sort of elf tap-down control deck, and then into either a lethal primal surge of genesis wave. Thoughts?

Anything that can keep a Maze of Ith tapped is fine with me for legacy, but in modern I think Tamiyo might be a bit slow. We don't have Force of Will or other great disruption spells against combo. Deck will die to storm unfortunately. Might do decent against Jund though.

It's a Meta call. Distant is great if your going dedicated elves, but Tamiyo is reusable, Slows games down, and can be used with Noble Hierarch and BOP

I've got a friend who plays combo elves, and most of his draw power comes from dropping a Regal Force after combo-ing out and spitting elves all over the board.
Then we decided to go through all the elves and found a really nice thing to splash:
Play a green (and now blue creature) tutor another, repeat.
It'd probably start off somewhere with getting at least 1 Heritage Druid out and your set of Nettle Sentinel
I personally think there'd be better choices than Tamiyo unless you decide to build the deck around her. Plus that double blue looks difficult.
tamiyo can draw you a bunch of cards, but she cannot be tutored or fetched, which is why i think regal takes the cake. she makes all-star cards like Lead the Stampede worse. I think elves need to be very careful with how many non-creature spells they have in their deck, for too many can throw off the balance. Plus the condition of making sure all your elves are tapped would seem to make things a bit clunky.
Sages of Anima is cool, i could see her being a baller in EDH, but i consider cards like this too slow when facing competitive decks in modern... although truth be told, i havnt tried her.. i have tried cards like her. When you drop sage of anima (for 5 mana), nothing will happen immediately. she has to immediate impact on the game. in most cases you will actually have to wait a turn before getting use out of her. she becomes an easy target for our opponent to gain advantage (path to exile). in conclusion, regal is really good and you dont need sages of anima to make him good.
sidenote: if your using blue, coiling oracle should be considered.
Following that logic, unless you've got a Heritage Druid in play, putting down an Elvish Archdruid doesn't impact the board either. This is of course considering we're talking about the early game and you're not swinging your guys in for damage since you just tapped them out to get the Archdruid in play in the first place.
Sages of Anima can come in as early as turn 3 with a:
T1: Forest, Llanowar
T2: Forest, Heritage + Any 1-Drop Elf (Preferrably Nettle Sentinel), [Tap 3 Elves] Arch Druid
T3: [Tap Druid for 3 + 2 Lands] Sages.
If you're feeling ambitious you've got enough mana for an entwined Tooth and Nail to pull out Sages (into play) and a Regal Force (into hand).

Turn 4, flood the board.
If you're feeling really ambitious, you can pull out a Triskelion and Mikaeus, the Unhallowed and just win right there.
