I wanted to play a midrange deck but Jund is too expensive (thanks to 'goyf) and while I love the URW color combination, I want to give black cards a try.
So I started building a Grixis midrange deck and gold-fishing with it to test the mana base and some card interactions. I don't have a play group to help me, so I'm posting it here where I hope to find people who already tried something like this.
I'm not using things like Cruel Ultimatum or Damnation since this isn't control - it aims to apply early pressure and keep it going while disrupting the opponent's game plan.
I started with Snapcaster Mage instead of Bob, but Deathrite Shaman conflicts with him. Given I was missing some card draw to keep things going, I replaced Snapcaster with Bob.
I do not intend to splash Green or White.
For the sideboard I'm thinking about:
Geth's Verdict (replaces Terminate against hexproof decks, mainly Geist) Shadow of Doubt (replaces Remand or Terminate as a hard counter with cantrip against all the Gifts-based decks, ramp decks, a good amount of combo decks) Rakdos Charm (good all-around utility)
I feel the deck is "too fair" or even naive, but gold-fishing a highly interactive deck doesn't help to get a gameplay feel (of course, I'm "playing" a lot of discard and removal against no one). What do you think?
