I've been farting around with this list online. It probably needs Tarmogoyf and a Stoneforge Mystic package. The 2nd Life from the Loam should be something else.
Yeah, it needs Goyf and Stoneblade stuff. You could also add in Dark Confidant pretty easily with minor changes to the mana base. I'm not sure I like the Jotun Grunts, 4 Aven Mindcensors seems like overkill in the main since you have arbiters. Gaddock Teeg also seems like overkill in the main unless there's a particular deck you're worried about. Tidehollow Sculler might also work in the deck.
EDIT: You could probably go down to 16-18 lands with this. Something like

Teeg stops Green Sun's Zenith, Engineered Explosives, Death Cloud, Cryptic Command, Dragonstorm, most planeswalkers... seems good. Maybe locking them out of searching isn't a great plan to begin with, but if it is, I wouldn't go below 3 Mindcensors. Do you think black would be the best third colour?

Black is easily the best third color for this imo because it works well with the fetches (BG and BW), Confidant is probably the best bear (outside of Goyf, which isn't really a bear) and Tidehollow Sculler is also really good.

Not really. There are only 4 spell snares in a deck and misstep only hits needle and path.
