I've got the modern bug and to start off I thought i'd test out Dragonstorm.
There were a couple ways I thought we could go about this, and they are firstly, a more burn-oriented storm version (basically the one Pat Chapin played in 07), and a go for broke all-ritual-all-the-time version.
Personally I like the burn-oriented version better, as I felt the all-ritual-all-the-time version fell flat on its face when you didn't have a Dragon in your hand, or the Dragonstorm.
The side here is basically tweaked for what I play against a lot around here. I don't know of other ways to get rid of Kor Firewalker (I'm sure there are some better than ghostfire) but thats why Ghostfire is there. Empty the Warrens is great for the matchups you need to take Dragonstorm out for, usually Ignite Memories going in with it as the Win cons. Slagstorm for creatures, Mental Misstep for T1 Discards that hit your combo.
As i said before I don't know his exact list but it worked very much like this one would. Turn 1 halimar depths, Turn 2 fetch, cast ponder esc card, pop-fetchland, cast preordain. Turn 3 Fetchland, toss spirit guide cast jace, use jace brainstorm. If he didn't go off after using jace it was typically next turn. Also nuts draw into turn 1 jace2.0 is retardedly difficult to fight against considering you don't have a land down yet and he's already brainstormed.
Just tossing this out as a suggestion, all ritual seems like it wouldn't work very well as he has no way to dig for the actual peices, this way to me seems like it would be more consistant, you could even exchange the jace with pyromancer ascension Fit an extra one in and you could potentially win the same turn or the next turn off playing the ascension. It might be a nuts draw but its not unrealistic to cast ascension on turn 2-3 plop two easy quest counters on due to rituals, cast a manamorphose copy it, cast a preordain copy it, cast a nother couple rituals and see beyond, cast a seething song copy it, dragon storm for some stupid amount copy it and just win right then and there.
I like that UR build, I was actually looking to try that out as well. I've had Browbeat as a maybe for awhile, but the 3 mana for them to probably take 5 (which is fine in most cases) isn't really consistent enough to draw the combo, which is what you wanna be doing. I've had much more consistency with the Burn version. And who knows, after playtesting we might find that a UR build is the right one.
Haha, if you look at the current decklist, I still had 3 spots open. Can you guess what those were? I guess I forgot to type swath in. It's there, trust me.
