Control is not as bad as people think in Modern. Add some Tarmogoyf's and Clique's and start countering spells and wiping boards... it's a very simple formula. Spell Pierce and Spell Snare goes a long way in this "meta."
No control shouldn't be able to splash for the greatest finisher in the history of the game with NO damage to its manabase. You and I both know Tarmo was a mistake.
Then perhaps I should clarify by saying that I've only played against two different decks running twelvepost, and got smashed on by the one running Amulet courtesy of turn 1 Amulet, turn 2 Amulet both games. Perhaps I'm a bit jaded. Consider my comment rescinded.
It's an instant speed 5/5 trampler for 4. Wtf do you people want seriously? It has applications in populate/ above the curve beats decks, or in Bant control/ flash. I seriously think anyone mad at this card for any reason other than losing an attacker to instant speed wurm, should go home and make their own awesome card game and leave the rest of us alone.

It's my favorite card actually, just look at my profile. Would you rather have Bitterblossom unbanned and lose to that? Because you have to give control a cheap finisher in a fast format. That's just the way the world works --

Mistake? Yes. Rosewater admitted it, and no one argues that. But jeez, Goyf is needed to give control some sort of clock to control. Control is direly needed to keep the combo in check, and a critical aspect of control decks is a clock. Goyf is a highly efficient clock, the best that control can get after Vendillion Clique. At this point, we really don't need Goyf bashing in a format where control needs all the tools it can get.
I for one will be advocating strenuously for the unbanning of Ancestral Visions and MAYBE Jace, depending on what the 5-0 and 4-1 decks look like at the end of round 5. Stay tuned for more twitter updates!
I think the Fireball Team is playing Zoo. Owen is playing Zoo for sure. And the tech we heard about in a tweet earlier with Gideon for the mirror, looks like Owen had it.
Again no surprise. Anyone who knew anything about the format knew Zoo was the best deck. God Tarmo will be more expensive than FOW online. I've got money on a reprint. And to Madding, yes control needs a decent clock. Not control doesn't need the best finisher PERIOD for no damage to consitency. Because that allows control to not lose to aggro, because its tarmo can now at very worst trade with all the aggro critters.
Which is of course great because some portion of players just want blue to be the best like it always is. Thank the geniuses at WOTC for making the two single most powerful slices of the color pie (card drawing and hard counters) the same color.
OH and yes I play control all the time, just an observation. Its not like I will die with a mountain in my casket or anything.
Well it looks like at least a couple of janky combo decks will make it through beause 12 post folds to them and its the most represented archetype.

I count 17 Control decks, depending on what BUG and Next level Blue are. Also counting BG DeathCloud as Control. If you don't count it, there are 10 control decks.. Yikes!
I guess several of the control players could get to day 2 with good draft results.

Well, if we advocate for Ancestral Vision and Bitterblossom, we know we have a control deck capable of competing with everything else out there. Though it won't be a cake walk for faeries. Even in pre-ban list testing, it had to work hard to pull out wins. Regardless, it would help stave off some of the more rediculous decks like Burning Shoal.

WoTC, thank you for finally announcing the Modern format, an eternal format where everyone can participate.
Looks like Chapin is pretty much out of this tournament. He's only got three points.
He tried to get to "cute" as did karsten. This format is so heavy combo lol. I guess control in this format has to essentially lose to aggro/12post to stand a chance vs the UR decks.

Add Twin combo to your sideboard.
Shake and stir, win.
Control is not allowed to have a finisher? Weird.

No need to rescind - you actually made a great point, imo. The issue is Amulet of Vigor hasn't caught on outside of a few groups. It really does make 12post that much better. Here's a good link for those interested in the tech -->

We know he's playing Wild Nacatl and Lightning Bolt; I'd say it's a pretty safe bet. The question is what variant of Zoo we're talking.
Which gives credance to LSV playing Zoo.

I would be very happy to see Blossom unbanned. Along with about half the ban list, mind.
2-3 maybe. a lot of 12 post floating around.
I guess several of the control players could get to day 2 with good draft results.

I doubt it will, the deck is really bad against decks that can interact with it which is basically every deck except Twelvepost.
He has absolutely nothing to do with balancing the cards.

Not likely. One of them is 1-4(i believe) and the rest are about the same except one of them was 3-1, I don't know if it won its last match.
