He had a few weird card choices, and we don't even know the whole deck list. Mystical teachings in twin seems weak.
It appears team channelfireball is asserting their dominance.

gemstone caverns is fine honestly. The mystical teachings is what go me and something about teferi...?

From what Conley Woods was saying on the podcast, half of them are playing Zoo, and the other half are playing combo. Seems like a good choice when aggro and combo are the best choices: play aggro with the most efficient creatures printed with an awesome manabase, or play 1 of the 6 combo decks that can turn 2-3 win and don't have any worry that control will mess up their plans.
I'm fairly certain the ban list will be majorly reworked. If zoo hangs 3 or 4 of 8 top spots in this tourney we may very well see control get a bump, probably in the form of *gulp* mental misstep.
Wait, he played Mystical Teachings and Gemstone Caverns?
OK, that's weird.
Unfortunately, three of the CFBers are in the top pod together. I guess that's the price you pay for having all the best players.
also teferi...thats all I could get from twitter and match coverage from wotc.
Do they do pod parings in accordance with constructed records? Or did they just get unlucky?

It would make very little sense if it was done by record unless they inverted it, pairing all the 15 point players together would punish you for playing well on day 1. Has to be chance (conspiracy GASP!!).
The Modern portion of the Pro Tour is almost over for today. So things will calm down a bit. Been exciting to follow. It's a shame we couldn't watch tho. How awsome would the Chapin-Finkel match been?

WoTC, thank you for finally announcing the Modern format, an eternal format where everyone can participate.
This thread is full of idiots... Lightning Bolt is NOT being reprinted.
Many times has a writer in Wizards said so, because of the plain and simple fact that it's too powerful for what it costs. x/3 creatures shouldn't be able to die at instant speed for one mana without a signifigant drawback. (like PTE giving you a land)
I absolutely guarantee that LB will not be printed in M10, and you can quote me on that.
Bribery is one of the best tools against Twelvepost. Mono G and GR have no counterspells to stop it, and decks like Hive Mind, Twin, and Ascension can all easily run it in the board. Brooding Saurian completely invalidates the card, it can be played either before or reactively AFTER the Bribery to still get your. As an added bonus, it gets you the Emrakul under your own control.
It's 12post SB against bribery. Fetchable with GSZ. I only found 1 opponent so far with briberies (control deck) in mtgo, but still it's good to get while they are cheap in case control becomes good after obvious and predictable unbans of visions, bitterblossom, misstep (to fight combo) and jace.
I bet he's playing dark zoo with his beloved (and mine too) dark confidant. Also because it's the best zoo build against 12post since you don't care about your life, same against UR combo decks.
Well, LSV is the master of aggro, so it's not too surprising, really.
What? I don't think I've seen him play an aggro deck in quite a while except for Boss Naya which also surprised people because he was playing Wild Nacatl.

It's mostly a joke, because so often when LSV wins something he does it with a fast aggro or combo deck, not the control decks that he is famous for. For example, there was Berlin with Elves (way back in the day), Nagoya with Tempered Steel, where he didn't win but did go undefeated in Constructed, and even GP Kansas City where his Top 8 draft deck was basically Vapor Snag Aggro.

Finkel seems to be playing an Empty the Warrens variant with lots of rituals and Ascension.
Something is seriously wrong if LSV is playing Wild Nacatl or playing a deck with Forests and no Islands.
meta breakdown and round coverage is up.
12post brings it in to prevent bribery shenanigans and control magic effects

Yep. If that doesn't speak volumes to Wizards, I don't know what will.
