1.) Modern was the reason I didn't quit competitive Magic. The format was fun, and still has potential to stay fun. But I'm worried that this massive wave of bannings says that WotC isn't taking it seriously.
2.) VERY successful, yes. And I expect 90% of the Banned list to be repealed when they remember that the vast majority of Legacy hate for the banned decks is also modern legal, with the exception of Hypergen and Elves!.
Honestly, I'm just worried the format will flounder while they try to assemble a competent B/R list.
I understand fully, Modern is 100% the reason why I play Magic as well, and I definitely agree that Zoo is going to be absurd. I tweeted as much to Tom and I hope he at least glances over it.
And I'm thinking your worry is not misplaced. I've read people's reactions about this elsewhere and there seems to be a very bad taste in people's mouths right now. At the moment I'm just hoping this is mostly a knee-jerk reaction and that cooler heads will prevail after some sleep. But if not I'm going to do the best I can and just continue playing the format and hope that things eventually turn out for the better.

Slip: Close! Shards.
For perspective: Extended players are pissed about the B&R. People playing the format that more or less just got replaced are mad.
I've spammed some tweets, sent some genuine e-mails, I'm really hoping that WotC sees the community concern and tweaks the Banned list. Even if they only give back Mental Misstep and Visions, I'd be satisfied until they have some time to test.

Wasnt the complaint of Extended that its just the old annoying decks from Standards gone by, these bannings are good, makes people use new decklists, deal with it.

THIS 100X!!! If you don't agree with this then there is no amount of logic that will ever convince you that good, non-oppressive, combos should be allowed. If you don't agree with it then just don't play this game, and you certainly shouldn't feel entitled to make any comment on ban lists ever.

Actually, of the old annoying decks from Standard- only Zoo and Jund managed to mess with the Format. I'd take them over HyperGen+BrokenElves any day, but it's not an improvement. Here's the issue: our "new decklists," just aren't as good or diverse. And it's not like Caw-Blade is taking off; control was hated into the ground WITHOUT bannings. Jumanji is as close as you could get, and even then that's Caw-Blade mixed with Madness.

I will agree to that.
Note that they believed Visions was format warping, but Cloudpost and BBE are not.
BBE is ok. IMO.
I'm guessing AV got banned with faeries even though it is fine in other blue decks.IMO bitterblossom is what made the deck unfair back when it was in standard.
Actually, JTMS is a fair and legit card in Modern. It works nicely in a lot of decks that are nowhere near broken. It's just a good draw engine here.
I agree, but I think it is almost to slow. in modern you can't tap out and use free counterspells to hold the fort.

EDIT: Bitterblossom was flat out what made Faeries so unfair/fun. The card advantage it generated alone could compete with Pre-Ban Caw-Blade. I dunno about Banning Bitter though, that's one of those things where you watch to see if it does any stupid **** and ban it if it does.
They should unban Jitte if they ban SFM, since the reason given for it being banned was:
Although Umezawa's Jitte is by far the most powerful Equipment in Legacy, it is not quite as game-ruiningly powerful as some of the other cards on this list. Historically, Umezawa's Jitte has been an extremely powerful card against creature decks, with mirror matches between creature decks often degenerating into battles over Jitte. Unfortunately, Stoneforge Mystic gives decks that want to fight against creature decks consistent access to Jitte and a creature to put it on. We think that Stoneforge Mystic is the more fun of the two cards, so rather than allow such a strong anti-creature-deck pressure to remain in the format, we chose to ban the real offender: Umezawa's Jitte.
With the banning of SFM it should swiftly find it's way back. That ought to help controll a bit right?
It's Caw-Blade with Vengevine and Fauna Shaman. You described it as being very similar to that in the thread anyway.
And really, it is the closest thing to Caw-Blade in the format. Stone-Blade doesn't have Jitte, meaning it would have to go for Fire/Ice; which is worse than just Emrakul'ing to the face.

Oh, god. I can complain about Jund.
I hate Blightning. That card is just humiliating.

And I agree. Like I said, all control needs is Misstep and Spell Snare to cover Zoo's entire deck.

Did you see that post about Jund I made in the Jumanji thread? I discarded two Vengevines to a Blightening and just crushed the poor bastard.
No remorse for Blightnings.

This is what Wizards actually believe.
Thats because you own a full playset and see now why buying overtly powerful cards worthy of bans can screw your magic money funds for the month.

Because Extended was an amazing format.
Seems Wizards just wants to help the players who started with Alara/Zendikar get out of the kiddie pool without properly learning how to swim first.

I'm not sure you get how WotC operates.
They'll ban a ton of things, and then unban something insignificant like Visions and justify it all.
